Sega Genesis Collection Hits PSN, Free For Plus Members
I still have the Sega Genesis Collection for the PS2. It's just one of those compilations any hardcore gamer really needs in his library.
But if you'd rather take the digital route, Sony has great news, especially if you're a PlayStation Plus member. The aforementioned Collection is headed to the PlayStation Store; as of March 29, Sega will start releasing various titles, beginning with the first two Sonic the Hedgehog installments. They'll all be playable on the PS3 and they'll have Trophy support. Plus members really get some special treatment, too: the games will be available several weeks early and entirely free to download for one month.
The list of titles and their respective release dates is below; we'll start with the free Plus releases:
- Sonic the Hedgehog – Available March 1 – April 5
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2 – Available April 5 – May 3
- Streets of Rage 2 – Available May 3 – May 31
- Golden Axe 2 – Available May 31 – July 5
- Comix Zone – Available July 5 – August 2
- Altered Beast – Available August 2 – August 30
And here are those titles for regular Store browsers; the retro games will cost you $4.99 each:
- Sonic the Hedgehog – March 29
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2 – April 19
- Streets of Rage 2 – May 17
- Golden Axe 2 – June 14
- Comix Zone – July 19
- Altered Beast – August 16
Ready to jump back in time? Or maybe you already have a Genesis hooked up somewhere...

So far I have well over $100 worth of free content from PS+ and I still have over half of my subscription to go. So, I would not in any way consider that sucking, but I suppose to each their own.

That's the good thing about Plus, the hardcore gamer who is always busy can get free stuff, play it then move on. If you truly loved it, continue playing and are no longer subscribed to plus, you can just buy it outright. The purchase is justified cos you love the product so much!! There's no down-side to using Plus!!
Come to think of it, I might go sign up for Plus myself soon. Much more tempting after that little comment I gave. :D

I also wish the full game trials gave you more than an hour of play. 3 hours sounds about right to me to get an accurate assessment of the overall game experience. For example, the first hour of ME2 is simply not enough to grasp the scope of the game's design.
If Sony made that upgrade, I'd probably become a member.

Only disappointed by plus because only the one account that purchased it can become a member, no other profiles on your PS3 nor the users' sub accounts will be plus members.

I don't know about you, but this seems like a bum deal to me. If at any point PS Plus seemed like a good value, I would be the first to jump aboard, but so far I haven't seen anything to allow me to commit.
