inFamous 2 Drops On June 7, HERO Edition Detailed

It's gonna be bad-ass. It just is.

We've been waiting on a launch date for inFamous 2 and Sucker Punch has finally delivered: as announced at the PlayStation Blog, the next Cole installment will release in North America on June 7! Plus, they've revealed the jam-packed HERO Edition, which will retail for $99.99 and net you the following goodies:

Highly detailed 8.5" Cole MacGrath statue
Sportable sling pack modeled after Cole's own in-game gear
inFamous #1 mini comic from DC Comics
Official inFamous 2 HERO Edition Soundtrack
Voucher code for a collection of in-game content

Lastly, the pre-order incentives have been revealed; you can nab a 24k gold version of the Amp if you drop your cash at Amazon.com, a Kessler Skin if you pre-order from Best Buy, the Lightning Hook special power if you put down a deposit at GameStop, the Electrocution Grenade for pre-ordering at Wal-Mart, and the soundtrack from other "participating retailers." I'm goin' with GameStop.

This game is almost guaranteed to be one of the most entertaining titles of the year. So loved the first one.

fact is nearly everything these days is a blah blah blah with RPG elements sooooo gonna go with jawknee on this one.

personally i cant think of many modern games that are rpgs first and foremost, even fewer with the mainstream draw ME2 has.

You criticize people for liking exclusives, and show dissent to people for not approving of certain types of games, when they did no such thing. Then you turn around and bash shooters because all you do is point and shoot while moving...

Then, you think you're somehow making great arguments in a conversation, when in fact for you, it's completely one sided as you continue to IGNORE everything I have said while clinging to something extremely small on the outskirts of my comment.

Do you not think that MAYBE you might garnish more respect from people if you would actually address everything I have said to you? I addressed every single point YOU have made to completion! Every time! You haven't even skimmed the surface of what I say.

Yes! Can't wait to pick this up. This might sound blasphemous, but I am more excited for Infamous 2 than Uncharted 3. *Gasp*. Infamous was just so much fun, and it has a special place in my heart.

Hmmm, well it seems natural. Infamous came out before Uncharted 2, so your Drake fix got scratched recently.

I already know Naughty Dog can deliver a great Uncharted game since they've done it twice. I am really interested to see if Sucker Punch can deliver a great sequel. The first one felt like a fresh experience, will the second feel as fresh with the new enhancements they are making, or will it feel stale. The new look and voice of Cole has me a bit concerned, but I will remain optimistic. Can't wait. Makes me want to play the first again, and *shudder* look for all the shards!

Exactly. Uncharted 2 made sure my Uncharted itch stays away for a bit. Looking forward to inFamous 2. One of my most anticipated games this year. I will play inFamous again too right before it comes out. I skip looking for all the shards now since I already have platinum. Don't really need all of them to beat the game.

February for Killzone 3.
March for Motorstorm.
April for SOCOM 4.
June for inFAMOUS 2.
September for Resistance 3
November for Uncharted 3.

And we still don't have a release date for TLG, Twisted Metal and Ico Collection yet.
Add all these to some other multiplats I'm getting.
Man I'm gonna be so broke.

Bummer, those who want to preorder through Amazon, you only get the 24k gold version of the Amp if you preorder the regular edition of the game. The Hero Edition doesn't come with any preorder incentive other than release day shipping for 99 cents.

I have never before purchased a special edition, but I might actually do it this time. Let's face it, how cool would I look with that sling pack?
I want the one in inFamous 1 too, funny though my backpack is pretty close.

I said I wouldn't be buying any new games for myself again, however Infamous is one of my favorite games, superhero, check, lightning powers, check, great all around, check.

This will be the one game I buy myself not only day 1, but I'm pre-ordering this hero edition if I have to sell plasma every week from now until June.

So I'm confused. Do we get the store bonus and soundtrack? or is the soundtrack also a bonus for other stores? RDR pre-order got me the soundtrack and deadly assassin DLC, hope this is the same. Either way, Infamous 2 is mines. Infamous 1 was crazy fun, this look better in every way. No special edition for me though...those material item will sit in my closet doing nothing, just like my sneaker collection...learned my lesson...lol

Well, I was right when I assumed that it would launch before August :D

I'm not sure I'll be here for it though. If not, it'll have to wait until August/September anyway... Damn. Ah well, this game will be mine. The first was WAY too much for it not to be.

Oh, and like Heavy Rain, the European box art is better than the American one. IMO, of course.

That would be kinda cool, I dunno if being a Villain alters your appearance like it does in the first game but you could get a different Cole figure, different color pack, different comic, red amp, etc.

In i1 Cole is a disgusting mess when you play him as evil though.

I didn't really notice any major changes between good Cole and evil Cole in the first game, except that as a villain he looked a tad more unkempt. I actually rather liked that they didn't go overboard with it.

You must be color blind lawless, if you took cole all the way down the "inFamous" path, all the color drains out of him and his clothes, he becomes completely black and grey and has dirt and oil all over himself.

I love to openly be the villain and if there is a villain edition I'd most likely get it instead. I always play evil first, I always slaughter the masses, I always lay waste to the land.

finally a dam release date! and not a half bad one too, I was afraid it was gonna be fall or winter. well d1p for me, this could be goty if it does everything i1 did and add just a few things. I dont wanna pay 40 dollars for the junk I wont use, the slingbag would be used to move my ps3 from place to place the statue would sit somewhere and id never listen to a game soundtrack, not my thing, but I do want all that dlc type stuff. I hope I can get some of these things for free on the psn in a year or so. but yeah since I have gs cash's ill be getting it there. cant wait tho, this'll be one of the only games I get for 60. sooo happy now! :)

Infamous eu hero edition has all that us hero edition has with cole's old Infamous 1 look!

Eu also gets special editions with good cole and evil cole versions!

The old Cole skin is a nice incentive. Seriously, why did the US not get that? And the special edition actually has a lenticular cover based on the US one that switches between good and evil Cole, not two seperate cases. That's how I figure it anyway.

the PS site is always wrong anyway, i remember they had KZ3 listed as march 4th a few weeks ago.
they had the PoP collection as TBC 2011 too.
not saying its official, but game seem to always be the most accurate.
i remember they were the first ones to update crysis 2s date from 2010 to 2011 a few weeks before they announced the delay!

I'll most likely get the game shortly after release but this, like almost all CE's, doesn't really entice me beyond the SE.
The "in-game content" will just wind up available on PSN at some point anyway, just like the gigawatt blades.
Hopefully it will be the same for the store incentives, it's annoying when you'd have to buy 4 or 5 copies just to get every little bonus.
I'm not that much of a completionist but it's a nuisance how many games do that nowadays.
I'm lookin at you MK preorder fatalities.
