Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception: More Info Arises

The translation is a little rough but when it comes to Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, we're willing to take what we can get.

Evidently, new gameplay details have popped up in the PS3 Inside forum, and they're well worth discussion, even if they're not 100% accurate: firstly, there's the mention of "organic" levels and environments, and those amazing character animations will be "adapted to the environment." So in other words, Drake will move differently when sidling along a wall or moving through a rubble-strewn building. Secondly, it seems the stealth element will be quite prominent, as the chances of sneaking up behind opponents "will be improved drastically." Thirdly and lastly, it appears there will be great incentive to go online after playing through the campaign; with the money earned in Story mode, players can use that cash to purchase weapons and upgrades for online multiplayer action.

We've heard Naughty Dog talk about those upgraded animations, and we also know about their continued focus on character realism and authenticity. ...the bottom line is that Uncharted 3 should be jaw-dropping.

And that list is a short list of the great exclusive franchises that PS3 has. Now, what does 360 have? Gears, Halo? Fable and Alan Wake? Pretty much people just get Gears and Halo. If you added up the sales of all ps3 exclusives vs 360 exclusives, would ps3 be greater? I think so. And shows an audience with much more diverse interests I think. Maybe Ben could do an analysis of this?

My favourite franchise ever, even if it's just UC2 with a new story slapped on (Which it clearly isn't) it would still be well worth a purchase.

Sounds good, games like this need the ability to stealth kill. I prefer a silent kill over shoot, duck, shoot, duck. Not that I don't enjoy the 3rd person shooter mechanic as in UC2, but I like to have the option to get a sneak kill in every once in a while.

I agree, the only conceivable complaint anyone could have with the Uncharted series is the lack of alternative combat approaches and that's goin bye bye with the stealth and hand to hand additions this time around.

They said they wanted to work more on the opening of UC2 but didnt have time, so i expect a good bit of stealth in UC3. I'm playing GoldenEye and i'm remembering how awesome it is when shooters gave you the option of going in silent for most firefights. Kids these days dont have the patience for a good stealth run, but i love it.

Awesome!! I have no idea how Naughty Dog can top perfection, but it sounds like they're doing it again.

How can Kinect, Gears 3 and Forza 4 compete with this along with Infamous 2, Killzone 3, SOCOM 4 with Move, Twisted Metal and Resistence 3? Not to mention Motorstorm Apocalypse and Ratchet and Clank All 4 One!!

MS had better pull out something awesome this year at E3 cos they're looking more and more pathetic with every passing year.

Remember 360 fans, the candle that burns brightest dies fastest. And Halo is no more.

I kinda wanna stay in the dark infowise about this game, I knew everything about uc2 by the time it was out.. but its too hard to resist clicking a uc3 article it seems, same goes for i2, I want the games to surprised me ya know? Sadly I see myself waiting for a price drop I think... it happened to uc2 quick so I think it'll happen to this one too. The world we live in games dont stay full priced for long.

hope they make massive improvements on the stealth system.
by far the best addition to uncharted 2, i really enjoyed the opening level i hope they have more of them this time.
seriously needs fixing though, if i had a nickle for every time i have gone for a stealth attack and instead drake has leaped up and punched the air thus alerting the guards id be a multimillionaire by now!

hope they drastically improve the story too.
link the events from uncharted 1 to 2, show us a little of drake, elana, chloe, sully and flyns history.
show us how they know each other, show us how they first met drake and so on.
uncharted 2 felt like you were dropped into a bunch of strangers but you happened to know them for 20 years.
more believable too, uncharted has always had too much of a typical Hollywood feel to it.
far too far fetched!

Are you really that confused how they all met? Do you play these games? Drake met Elena by tricking her into funding the expedition to find Francis drakes coffin as long as she can film it. We found that out in the first 5 min of the first game. Chloe was introduced through Flynn who drake knew as an "old friend" or accomplice. we also found that out very shortly into UC2. Everyone has been introduced properly. Never once do you or should you feel like you were dropped in to a scenario with a bunch of strangers!

I'm sorry but I get the feeling you don't follow along with these games. Especially saying the story needs to be stronger! You've got to be kidding. Everything is executed so brilliantly from the characters, to the dialogue ( sole
Of the best), to the plot, it's just all excellent.

@ bigrailer19,
I think he's implying the way that Nate met Flynn, Chloe and Sully for the first time ever. I feel that Sully is going to be explained in this new game, but feel that the other two are really quite unnecessary. You got enough of a feel for their past interactions by what was seen in Among Thieves.

@ Anonster,
And how can you say that the stories are far-fetched. I'll agree that they are, to an extent, cliched, but in the context of the world and the way that it mixes mythology, fantasy and reality, there really is nothing 'far-fetched' about it. Not if you are willing to allow yourself to be drawn into the story properly.

Perhaps you can explain what you mean, and if you say the leaps of logic, well... Nate's a smart guy.
Peace.

P.S. Bloodysilence,
By now, I'm assuming most people just realise that it's his trademark. Most of the regulars have one in some form or other. That being said, I have seen some positivity from him. Can't recall any particulars right now, but I have seen them.

hows uncharted far fetched?
well lets see, a petrol tank explodes in his face has such a impact it shifts the train but hes fine.
a chopper blows the train kart to pieces, and gets stuck in the tunnel but no bits go flying off.
not to mention the leaping from car to car while chain gunners shooting at ya.
not to mention the buildings collapsing and your just standing up no problems.

Talk about comprehension skills. I wasn't saying UC2 was totally realistic, I was pointing out that one day you rave about Crysis, then complain that UC2 is far fetched.

I'm pointing out that Crysis is more far fetched and ridiculous than UC2, yet you fail to complain about that.

My comment was pointing out that you as a blank line are a contradiction in and of yourself. You don't seem to have any actual thought of your own, other than to disagree with whatever is said on psx.

Wow, once again, he nevers fails to grab our attention! Let's face it ___________, it's a game. It's never going to be fully real. As much as technology and techniques in creating a realistic environment through the use of computerized graphics improves, it will all still be completely inadequate to what you'll see in nature. Besides, if that tank did give Drake first degree burns on his face and overall body, would you be happy with the realistic injuries? Or complain that he can no longer adequately perform because of his injuries?
Like I said, virtual reality can never become reality because... Well, it's virtual. Clean and simple. If you look too much into games, they no longer become fun, they become silly, and lose the magic that they need to be games. It's great that you're thinking critically about such things, but in the gaming world, critical thinking can destroy the world of that game and make it all seem nonsense. So, just take it in, love it, and, overall, get over it :)

Besides the opening of Uncharted 2, I found stealth necessary in one other part, and had fun executing it. To read that ND is amping up the part of the game is awesome. Maybe stealth fans can refer to it as "UC3: Snake's Deception" :P.

And further improving on the animations?! Geez-us! Finally, the mention of organic environments piques my interest. I'm getting shivers thinking about something like the opening level of GoW3 being implemented, rather than the largely static levels and backgrounds of the last two games.

Now where'd I put that bib? I'm drooling too much.

i didn't actually mind the stealth system in uc2. yes it could have some more improvements like jumping from a high ledge and landing on a guy. so im glad they added it this time in uc3.
im hoping there's a lot to interact with the environment when your attacking a guy, like they shown before in vids. i just hope its not to over the top with the melee fighting sequences.
the story i know will be awesome just like uc2, i hope its longer too, and the sp has more things to unlock and collect beside the treasure. the visuals there's not much you can do i think, uc2 still the best looking game on a console. if they do improve it and you can clearly tell the visuals are better. ng will add another goty to their many goty collection.

Well I hope that Naughty Dog does focus alot of time on the MP portion of the game. I know there was discussion on this website last week about the benefits and cons of MP vs. ignoring the SP portion of the game, however I feel like there is no reason (especially in a game like this) that both can't be awesome. Playing UC2 online was awesome and I hope it could be even better this time around.

When it comes to exclusives I can't fathom any reason why the MP should dig into anything except development time. It's a problem on Multiplats because you have to squeeze the SP and MP onto a teeny tiny DVD.

I really enjoyed Uncharted 2, personally though I wouldn't mind it getting a Mature rating though. Only one tiny thing out of that whole awesome game bothered me. That one thing is that no guard really never screamed if they got pulled/pushed over a ledge to their deaths while you were sill undetected that I remember. Maybe when you first pull them but they seem to accept their fate with not even a "F- you Drake" on the way down. I know that would mess with the stealth aspect but I want you to imagine something.

Imagine Drake hanging on ledge with a guy above him, you go for a stealth kill, he takes a knife he would hold somewhere (in a sheath attached to a belt loop or something), takes it out with one hand while still hanging, he pops up, jams it into the guys back, guy goes 'Hurk' or something like that,Drake pulls the blade back and guy falls backwards by himself. Now tell me that didn't bring a smile to some of your faces.

Might make him seem less than a hero, but what does that make Snake with his optic camo and him silencing most of his weapons? Not saying the neck snapping kill wasn't brutal, I especially liked how much he kicked ass in the hand to hand department in 2, I am sure they will bring more of that in the 3rd one. All I am saying is, I would like a little more blood, I don't expect to see gore in any uncharted game so I'm not even going to ask for that, but while your going hand to hand I wouldn't mind it being a little more lethal. Anyone remember taking over a waist high wall and just pulling a guy over and hitting him with an elbow? Its unrealistic in my eyes, another opportunity for the knife. But in reality it doesn't need it, its just the spice I would personally like on mine. I know theres plenty of gory stuff out there, but nothing thats on par with it on a storytelling sense.
