Battlefield 3 Gameplay Teaser Debuts, First DLC Confirmed

Battlefield 3 is destined to be one of the year's best; DICE and their nifty Frostbite 2 engine should produce one heck of a shooter.

We caught a debut teaser a little while back, but this new video features never-before-seen gameplay and snippets of a certain mission. The trailer was just uploaded to the official site yesterday and you can also view it here. It shows U.S. Marines engaging in PLR forces in Iraqi Kurdistan:

Furthermore, DICE mentions the "Back to Karkand" DLC, which will come packed in with all limited edition copies of the game. When we say "limited edition," we're merely referring to all first-run copies, by the way. Back to Karkand contains 4 "re-imagined" maps from Battlefield 2 and if you get the game late, you'll still be able to grab this DLC from the PSN or Xbox Live Marketplace later in the fall.

If they can include DLC the package they can include it on the disc.

I really hate DLC.

I don't mind it if the developer gave us all they could give upon release and then releases something down the road but EA is starting to do what Crapcom has been doing. Giving us the content on the disc then makes us pay to unlock it. it's BS.

Even Sony published games do it. They could have easily included the map pack in KZ3, but if you didnt pre-order the game you'll be stuck buying the DLC.

It makes me miss the last generation when they would ship a complete game instead of milking it for all it is worth.

If you are referring to KZ3:

Idk if its on the disc or not, but according to the internet, the EU version of the game is 41.4GB, which should be the largest version due to all of the language packs. I seriously doubt 2 maps would take more than the leftover 8gb on the blu-ray.

If you are referring to BC3:

Yes but DICE has been working on this game for 3 years and it's using the Frostbite 2 engine. So I don't think it's a big deal.

Hard to believe it's already been a year, eh?

BFBC1 was Frostbite 1.0, BFBC2 was Frostbite 1.5, and yes, BF3 will be Frostbite 2.0.

While the trailer does look really pretty, I'm guessing it will be more representative of the PC version.

to be honestly I can't tell how much better the graphics are because I haven't played bad company 2.

FPS is my least favorite genre, battlefield has always been my preference if I am to play a military style fps, but the last one I played was the first Bad company.

As you can tell by my earlier posts, not too in the know when it comes to fps games, I'm an rpg man.

i no fan of dlc, either. me2 had a cerebus pack code to unlock the add on content that was on the disc. no add on missions, or the interactive comic unless you use your me2 code that comes with the new copy to connect to ea's servers. real pain in the butt.

That's ridiculous. The game doesn't even have a set release date and they're announcing DLC. Soon will come the day that they announce the DLC, and then the game that it comes from. I don't care if it's bundled in with the LE or what, it's crap.

I agree. It's shows an intentional withholding of content that should have come with the final product. EA is quickly becoming as bad as Crapcom and Craptivision with these early DLC announcements.

Yeah before long they'll be selling us dlc and in return for purchasing the dlc we'll get the game a day early and at a discounted price. Of course we'll be required to pre-order the dlc for this deal.

Although I don' agree on what their doing with the DLC, it don't really bother me since i was planing on getting it on day 1 anyways so i'll get the DLC for free regardless

Fella's the limited edition is the same price as the regular, it's similar to what dice and Ea did with bc2. It's a great deal free extra maps essentially, battlefield 3 will be the top or among the best of 2011's shooters. Frostbite 2.0 is looking quite impressive, but you know cry-engine 3 and Id tech 5 are looking equally impressive.

Was this a singleplayer trailer? battlefield's never had a singleplayer campaign before. This looks so awesome, I'm gonna pre-order it after I'm done with this post.

I know this is off topic but for those who got KZ3 is it awesome? I'm torn between KZ3 and Crysis 2.

I really do want KZ3, but the first Crysis is one of my favorite fps. I liked KZ2 but not as much as the first Crysis, but the KZ3 demo was sheer AWESOME!!! I feel stuck, (sigh).

I actually love L4D and L4D2, they offer tons of entertainment if you have friends with the game on the PCside. But I admit I'm looking forward to more story based SP gameplay aka Episode3.

Idk, i've played both L4D and L4D2 a few times and it is just the poster-child for repetitive and shallow gameplay. The only fun part about it is playing with your friends, but that doesnt make the game good, it just means friends are awesome. I could have fun shoveling dirt with my friends, but that doesnt mean shoveling dirt is awesome.

Hi:

Great (sarcasm), another DLC announcement BEFORE the release date of the Game..
I REALLY don't know who are worst.. the company who do this CRAP or the people who bought this kind of CRAP!
About the game, I'm interested in the Co-Op Campaign.
