Crysis 2: First PS3 Footage Reveals Multiplayer Demo
Crytek has said many times that PlayStation 3 owners needn't worry about a crappy Crysis 2 port.
And they try to back that up with the first available PS3 footage of the highly anticipated sequel, which can be found at Eurogamer. The footage is from a single-player level called "Semper Fi or Die" and it should satisfy the naysayers. On top of which, an announcement at the end of the video tells us a PS3 multiplayer demo for Crysis 2 will be available. Executive producer Nathan Camarillo told everyone they could "probably hope for" a PS3 demo and that has proven true. We don't have a date just yet but considering that the game arrives on March 25, we have to assume that demo isn't too far off. The multiplayer demo for PC hits on March 1 and it includes two maps and two separate modes for 6-on-6 matches. That's likely what PS3 owners will get, but you never know. We'll definitely be on board with that demo, if only because the hype has been really building over the past couple of months, and we just need to see this thing...
Will Crysis 2 be best played on the PC? Yeah, probably. But console players shouldn't be left out in the cold.

The 360 being the easier platform to develop for, doesn't leave me filled with a great sense of hope for what the PS3 version will look like. I love Crytek, scratch that, I loved Crytek, for their work with Crysis and Warhead, but they sacrificed far too much to bring it to console, and now honestly, I just don't think what made Crysis as amazing as it was, is being carried over to Crysis 2.
Definitely passing on this, on PS3 and on my PC. Have no need for another consolized shooter.

The facts are, Crysis and to a lesser degree Crysis Warhead were both originally very glitchy on PC. That's one platform. We now have 3 platforms that Crysis 2 is being launched on. The easiest to program for? Has already had so many bugs and issues, that Crytek is now backtracking on the 'exclusive' demo, because the world's pretty much aware this game will have problems and they want to try and reassure everyone these issues won't occur on PC or PS3, of course, we won't know for months, because they're going to hold out on the demo as long as possible.
Additionally, Crytek boss Cevat Yerli, already stated publicly that PC components were cut, or never added in the first place, because they wouldn't carry over to console.
Next up, the power suits been dumbed down to be more manageable on controller. After that, the environment sizes have been nerf'd to allow for the consoles lack of RAM, ruining the ability to tackle objectives in any way you see fit.
These are valid concerns, and a large deviation from the original games scope. Maybe it's better to be unaware of these changes, maybe not, dunno, for me personally though, I prefer games to be tailor made for the system they're on. Not running as low as the lowest common denominator can handle.

What made Crytek amazing, was their unflinching desire to push boundaries of what hardware and their engine can do. They have simply turned their back on that, and as such, are going to flop.

have a look at the trailers from the leaked beta, this looks 10 times better then the original crysis and 10 times larger!
only thing thats disappointed me is you cant choose which suit powers to use, then use them.
as soon as a powers chosen power drains, so if you want to use the shield ability power drains even if your not getting shot, where in the original the shield only depleted when getting shot.
thats such a stupid change, why should the power go down if your not getting shot?
so if you want to use the shield ability, you basically have to wait till your almost dead then turn it on to maximize its full potential, and hope your reflexes are flash fast!
freaking utterly freaking stupid!!!!!!!!

On a side note, I tried to log in and as I was doing so, the add page popped up. I thought I remembered reading a while back that the site wouldn't become like IGN in terms of ads and such. Those full-page ads annoy the hell out of me.

What do you mean by yeah, probably? When it come to a game like Crysis 2 the PC will be the obvious choice of platform(for anybody serious about the game) given the fact you can run the game on settings higher than the console version and the avaiability of future mods/add-ons.

And so far, It can't even hold a candle to KZ3's "WOW" factor.
So one or the other, Crytek now needs to either "put up, or STFU"!!!!!!!!!!!

So it looks like the only reason I would get this game is for the single player. And so far what I've seen of the story and gameplay is not as excellent or revolutionary as Crytek would have us believe.
But Kraygen is right, at least they got the f-bombs down. I'd be horrified if they didn't have that in an FPS.
