SOCOM 4: Co-Op Customization

Co-op is always fun. It's even more fun when it's customizable.

SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs is set to launch on April 19 and "in addition to its cinematic single-player campaign and highly addictive online competitive multiplayer," there's the enticing cooperative option, as explained at the PlayStation Blog: up to five people can play through several missions designed specifically for co-op. There are two main game types; Takedown and Espionage and before each mission starts, you can adjust "both the overall difficulty and the density of the enemy soldiers positioned on the map." Teamwork will be required at all times, which isn't surprising. But Zipper Interactive knows multiplayer of all types (check out MAG if you aren't convinced) and this addition of custom co-op missions is great for the fans. Online shooter competition is always steep but SOCOM is a franchise that has been known to hold its own.

Also, don't forget that SOCOM 4 will be compatible with PlayStation Move. Maybe you should test it out with Killzone 3 first, though...

That's awesome, love me some co-op. This game is sounding more and more like I am going to need it. I just hope they have a demo that allows us to use the move controls.

I'm looking forward to the beta. IGN had some overall good things to say about the 5 player co-op. Hopefully it turns out well enough to be a purchase! Dont know when though, cause I will hopefully still be busy with KZ3

The more I hear of this, the happier I am that Zipper is back in the driving seat for this game. Confrontation became a solid game eventually, but there's a lot of Socom fans out there that feel it wasn't a 'real' Socom

Hells yeah! Pumped for some co-op! I love it when games have it (like Resistance 2's which was awesome). Nice addition. Helps offset the stupid dlc that is becoming annoying when they 'announce' the 1st dlc before the game even launched.

Stay classy PSX... "And __ ___ _____ San Diego!"

I have a free beta code for this game that came with KZ3. But the manufacturing goons seem to have overly adhered the 'peel away' cover to the access code. So when I went to pull the cover away, part of my beta code went with it and now I can't tell what the complete code is. If I was cool like the National Treasure guy, I'd probably be able to figure it out.

wo is me =/

You aren't supposed to peel it. You scratch it off with a coin or a key like those scratch games you can get at the gas station.

I'm pretty excited to try the beta when it launches. I already preordered it off of Amazon and used my $20 I got from preordering KZ3 from them. I was going to order the sharp shooter but the credit was only good for items shipped and sold by Amazon and unfortunately that wasn't. No biggie though cause now I get Socom for $38 and and only had to pay $1 for day of release shipping. I also get $10 back from that to use for a future video game purchase.

Sweet! Sony will be delivering the two best shooters of the year, SOCOM 4 and KZ3. BC3 and Homefront are up there too, not sure how awesome BC3 will be, but I doubt it will deliver like KZ and SOCOM this year.
When I got the "launch" PS3(60GB) like the only games I played for a while was COD4:MW(Still the best COD ever!) and War Hawk(Sony, I'm still waiting on the sequel) but since then I never was able to get in a good shooter. That will all change this year thanks to Sony, Thank you Sony.

sweet, about bloody time a ps3 exclusive got co-op!
hope its got offline co-op, had a blast playing KZ3s at the launch party.
i wish co-op games would start using the tech seen in the lego games, instead of having a constant split screen the screen splits if the 2 characters get a certain distance away, otherwise its one joined screen.
just gets really annoying having a split screen!

I bought Killzone 3 just for the SOCOM beta. I played every SOCOM except the ones on PSP and I hope the single player for SOCOM 4 lives up to the previous titles....keeping it team based and not a one man army.

The co-op sounds cool, just hope a lot of team work is involved....no one man army

Me being a old SOCOM head, THE MULTIPLAYER WILL BE A DISAPPOINTMENT. Zipper has taken away things that gives the game a SOCOM feel, just so they can target people who weren't interested and the COD fans....:cries:
