Crytek: "We Definitely Want To Make Crysis 3"
Okay, so Crysis 2 is less than a month away. But the developers are already starting to think about the next installment...provided March's release turns out well for everyone.
When asked about the possibility of a trilogy for the popular shooter, Crytek boss Cevat Yerli sort of confirmed a third Crysis. It isn't exactly surprising, but it's interesting to hear that the team already has the story all mapped out:
"We definitely want to make Crysis 3. I'm not making a formal announcement. We'd like to make Crysis 3 but the second game needs to be successful first. I will mention that there is a plan for how the fiction of Crysis should roll out, but again, it depends on the success of Crysis 2."
However, he also said that if Crysis 2 doesn't hit the team's goals and doesn't manage to break even, the series may stop. Of course, we're all quite familiar with Crytek's building of hype over the past few months, but it's probably just beause they really want to make a third Crysis.
If you're looking for Crytek to produce TimeSplitters 4, you might be out of luck. Yerli did say his team wants to expand beyond the FPS genre.
"We have a bigger ability now to expand with more games. As a company we can't just make shooters, we need to breed genuinely new forms of entertainment and interactive experiences... The genre may not even exist yet for that matter, so what we're keen on is games that offer new experiences for every moment the gamer plays."

Crysis 2 takes place after this in NYC when the excavated alien guys start attacking everything apparently.
Oh, you fight Koreans too because they want to contain the alien guys and use their energy while your character just want to get rid of them.

attn: Sony
how about having this kind of forward-thinking attitude like Crytek instead of wasting your developers talents on sequels.
But seriously though that entire statement alone really demonstrate how forward-thinking Crytek as a company is and why they are destined for greatness.

Talking isn't the same as doing. Look at the numerous, varied franchises Sony has: Uncharted, Gran Turismo, Killzone, LBP, Heavy Rain, God of War, Sly Cooper, and that's just to name a few. Now, what has Crytek done: Oh, Far Cry, Crysis, its expansion and sequel. Yeah... impressive.
Peace.

This developer runs it's collective mouth way to much and that to me shows a lack of confidence. Take a look at Naughty Dog. They are a certified AAA studio that lets there games do the talking.
That is greatness in my book.
