Dedicated Fans Get "New Content" For Guitar Hero And DJ Hero
When Guitar Hero and DJ Hero bit the dust, we heard future downloadable content was very much in question.
But as ShackNews noted, the official Twitter pages for both franchises in question have thanked gamers for their continued support, and said due to that support, "new content" would be released. At the Guitar Hero page, they specifically made the announcement after their Facebook page hit a million fans. Of course, many wonder if the Guitar Hero name is truly dead; most just assume it'll pop back up in the future at some point. For now, though, Activision says they just can't keep it profitable, as the music licenses were obviously killing them and...oh yeah, the games just aren't anywhere near as popular anymore. But if you're still playing your plastic instruments and having a great time, you'll be happy to know that fresh DLC should be on the way. Have you already mastered the available songs?
For my part, I'll be plenty happy to never see another music-related package at my door. That's really enough of that.

im sad to see it go, i really enjoyed playing them.
dunno why but ive always had more fun with GH then RB, even if its the same song i prefer to play it on GH.
i wish they would just release the first 2 as a HD collection, that would tide me over forever!

When I was younger we played this game for free, they called it, turn on the radio and play air guitar. Sure it didn't have the cartoon people and the flashy lights, but come on.

For anyone new to the franchise... there's like 20 titles to choose from to start. And for hardcore fans, they already have multiple versions of the game... just expand their content. I have a hard time believing they could really expand the gameplay aspect while keeping it afordable.
It might just be me, but new content -not a new release- should have been the main focus a long time ago. Hopefully for fans, the decision wasn't too late.
EDIT: Also, how many "hardcore" fans could there be to only sell 100k copies of the latest release?
