Lengthy Metal Gear Solid Survey For Long-Time Fans
Given the number of questions, one could form a whole lot of theories and opinions concerning the future of the Metal Gear Solid franchise.
A reader has told us about a new MGS-related survey Konami has presented to the fans; you can find it on the publisher's Facebook page. It asks all sorts of questions, ranging from game tactics to extra content, and even a mention of different platforms (i.e., Would you be interested in a Metal Gear game on an Android phone?).
They even go all the back to the original MGS title in the first PlayStation era so Konami is obviously very curious about the current mindset of fans. It even asks you to detail a few answers; for instance, after you pick the MGS title that had "the most fun gameplay," you have to say why it had the most fun gameplay. Then it goes on to ask about platform preferences, why you decided to play a certain title, and your preferred methods of gameplay in certain game situations. So it'll ask something like, "what do you do when you're spotted?" The answers range from just killing everyone to setting traps to trying to disarm and disable without killing.
It's a long survey and all MGS fans should probably participate. We're just wondering why Konami needs all this info, and what they might be planning...

I really don't get this kind of viewpoint. If the franchise he nurtures is great and has always been great why not let him do it as many times as he wants?
People are way too picky. Seriously, the day I'd oppose a MGS is when they actually make a bad MGS.
Otherwise give me Metal Gear Solid 5 (Sunny)

100% agree with you mate.
It has become the trend for some people to say what lotus is saying.
However if these people are MGS fans - which I presume they are - and also presuming they played MGS4, I am baffled that people do not want more of what MGS gave.
As a person who has played every MG(S) (a very, very big MGS fan), I would loved to see a MGS5, even if it's a prequel.

Since it's obvious that 3rd part exclusives are becoming rare, Konami needs to avoid the 360 during development until it's completed. Once it's done, port it over to the box, and it's 4 DVD's.

If you say you either don't own a PSP, or that you are not interested in MGS on a mobile device, the survey ends VERY QUICKLY!! hahah.
I'm a home console guy myself, and I already spend too much time playing somedays....so I don't need another avenue to play games.

Peace Walker (PW) is the last game Kojima made, it was only out on the PSP and was considered to be MGS5 in reality.
It was a fully fledged MGS game.
If you haven't played it, it is no use to Konami and Kojima Co because you cannot compare previous MGSs to the latest and therefore cannot suggest what aspects you preferred and would prefer in the next installment, be it on mobile or home devices.

If you read my unedited reply, you will see that I said PW was 'considered' to be MGS5, it couldn't be numbered '5' due to being on a portable console.
Please see:
http://thegamingliberty.com/index.php/2010/01/22/kojima-peace-walker-would-have-been-called-mgs5-if-it-werent-on-psp/
In order to know what elements of PW people want in MGS5 (which is likely to be on a home console) they are taking this survey.
Simple.

They had A lot of detailed questions. In the closing comments I suggested that they develop with the PS3 and port if needed. Regardless of the media format. I am tired of the limitations due to lowest common denominator. I also want some NGP/PS3 integration as hinted by Kojima at the PS Meeting but without gimmicks. Otherwise don't bother. Hideo is a visionary so I am not worried.

-being able to trip a soldier
-being able to use martial arts on the "rookie type soldiers"
-being able to listen to enemy's tactis (like you can put your ear on a wall and hear how they're going to guard the area)
-Depending on the location being able to use the environment to your advantage (if it's a city being able to use lights to blind your enemies or turn off to disorient them)
There's so much they can do....just hire me.

His MGS3 alone is the most sadly beautiful video game ever made and most emotional story ever told in a video game. I believe I cried even at 3rd or 4th play through. Also, if you pay attention to the scrip of the game, especially from The Boss, it was very very philosophical and deep, hardly any game scrip was written like that, only Lost Odyssey's dreams matches to that level of depth.
I am not even talking about MGS4,2,1 and MG on the NES. and then there is Peace Walker which I think is the biggest game on PSP, and there is this beautiful song Heaven Divides. Listen to that song, have you found any other songs in any other games recently even close to it? Also the Metal Gear solid main theme, personally, I think it can replace the National Anthem, feel very very emotional and patriotic.... Point is, no one makes games the way Kojima does, the story, the complexity, the emotional elements, the sacrifice, the sad yet beautiful unfolding....every thing, every little move, every little weapons, wall, grass, step... nothing can be more perfected than his game. therefore, I gave my biggest Salute to him. (from Big Boss!!!)
and I believe in this article matter, he is again planning something big.

i really enjoyed MGS4, still one of the best ps3 games!
i wish it would go back to the hardcore stealth ways of old though.
the sneaking through corridors, using a million gadgets, destroying security cameras, hiding bodies, & if you get seen you instantly fail.
now THATS a stealth game!

i reckon that should be on a harder mode so those who want that can do that, but those who just want to enjoy it (which usually on my first play through is what i want) can just enjoy and not spend hours on one bloody level because some knob keeps seeing you.

i would very much like to see a review for it here.
anyways, i love the mgs series. great series. i have very fond memories of mgs1. it had a great story, and all the dialogue gave the charcters a lot of depth. there weren't a lot of games that had that much voice acting at the time, and it gave the game a lot of charcter.
