DICE Has Learned Their DLC Lesson With Bad Company 2
In order to keep the shooter fans satisfied, the developer needs to continually offer fresh content. It seems to be a rule of the new generation.
And in retrospect, DICE believes they didn't correctly support last year's stellar title, Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Now, Battlefield 3 executive producer Patrick Bach says they have "a lot of really interesting plans" to keep their new title relevant. In speaking to Game Informer, Bach had this to say on the subject:
"We have a big focus on sustaining the game. To be honest, Bad Company 2 was a bigger success than we anticipated. We did not account for that. We sold a lot of copies and don't feel bad about where we were, but looking back, we should have released more, bigger content earlier.
The challenge is to build a game, and then have more people coming on before the project is done to start building extra content because it takes a lot of time to get stuff out. Even if you're done with something it takes another one-to-two months to get it on the net so to speak. We've learned our lesson now, and have a lot of really interesting plans for how to keep the attention of the players. We can do better in that area."
The first piece of DLC for BC2 didn't release until three months after the game launched, but it seems clear DICE won't be repeating that mistake. Is it too much for us to hope that some of that bonus content will be single-player-related? Oh, I know...nobody cares.

Then I might actually purchase the dlc. Make the single player 20 hours of really good awesomeness and give 10 different mp modes with 20-25 maps, I'd be happy for 6 months easy.
But no, every fps is the same, 5-6 hours sp, 4-5 mp modes with less than 10 maps and most maps only playable on 1-2 modes.
Dlc never includes sp or even mp modes, just maps and they want too much money for me to play the same game in a different map.

The other problem with DLC maps for online shooters is that as soon as they release you fracture the online community; You have one group that buys it and another that doesn't and then you have the people that were originally online not playing in the new maps.

only developers who actually give a f*ck about the PC community!
still pissed there not releasing mods for the game, but at least this time we get a proper PC game instead of the crappy PC ports we have had shoved at us for years!
tis why people say PC gaming is dying, because 1 we have to put up with crappy console ports, and 2 its just a pain in the a$$ getting the games to work!
bulletstorm for example, 3 drivers later and i still cant get the game to play in 3D.
someday Nvidia will learn how to organize themselves, and release profiles on release day not weeks later!
god, there almost as bad as sony!

COME ON, Ben, not this Crap. I don't, REALLY don't understand why people support this kind of "strategy". Why someone important like you (honestly, for Me you are an important people in this business) don't realize that paid DLC (10 or less months after release date) is like steal.. why?
