Fifth Resident Evil Movie Scheduled

So anyway, they're making another one.

They've made four but as each one keeps making people money, a fifth was perhaps inevitable. "Resident Evil 5" has been confirmed for a September 14, 2012 release date. Unsurprisingly, it'll be available in 3D and although many thought they'd stop after each installment, the series continues to push forward. Besides, the fourth film - "Resident Evil: Afterlife" - scored big at the foreign box office, raking in over $236 million, which is nearly two and a half times the haul of "Extinction" and almost as much as the first three movies combined. "Afterlife" wasn't so hot in this country, generating just over $60 million, but it was still over the $50.6 million tallied by "Extinction." "Resident Evil 5" Will be here only two years after the previous entry, and that's the shortest wait yet for franchise fans.

Well, whatever. When are we going to hear about RE6, Capcom?

I'll do you one better and tell you that Silent Hill 2 really is happening. The writer and director have both been replaced by a bloke by the name of Michael J. Basset. He wrote and directed Solomon Kane, which has recieved fairly good reviews. It will be based on Silent Hill 3 and the filming is expected to be starting on Monday and run through until the start of May.

Silent Hill: Revelations 3D. I'm cautiously hopeful.

Guess I'm out of fate on that, I know he was let out once and screwed that up. But yeah they coulda got someone new.

If it's 3D then I'm very worried. I haven't seen a good movie that centers around 3D yet.

this entire series are just pure boring and very close the disaster. Let the Racoon city just sit with the game, stop forcing a movie out of game, this is NOT the way to go, stop making Uncharted movie too, and stop making DMC, all wasting human resources and funds, and ultimately ruin the game reputation....

I must disagree in a way since bad movies have yet to destroy their game counterparts. Game franchises don't die because bad movies were made from them, they die because game companies change them too much.

Resident Evil 6, the movie or game? o_0 Didn't take long for Hollywood to catch up.

I haven't seen Extinction yet, but I really enjoyed the first film, the others... not as much. I don't really have anything against the films, they're dumb fun, and Milla Jovovich is gorgeous. For that alone, they get a pass. And that sheila that played K-Mart in the third one... bring her back. >.>

But seriously, give us another Silent Hill... that was some creepy. Why not a Siren movie too, and a Dead Space live-action film, as long as they get the script writers for the games, or at least the animated films to do it, and a decent director.

The first film was decent but this Paul Wes Anderson dude has ruined these movies.

I think part of the reason Silent Hill was so much better was because it wasn't a HollyWeird movie. If I remember correctly the director and producers were French. I thought it was a great movie except for the end where they went a bit too far with the barbed wire shredding through the old ladies...yea...haha

I love silent hill. I also liked Hitman, I think they did the best that they could have with the type of story and gameplay the game has, but I would have went with someone different for the lead.

That being said I understand that the directors and writes want to put their own spin on a story but they should still stay true to the source instead of just doing their own thing, I mean if you are gonna do that then why even bother.

I won't say I hate Anderson because I think he has the ability to put together a good movie, i mean Event Horizon is one of my favorite movies, but he should stick to his own ideas.

Event Horizon was okay but one decent movie a great director it does not make. His Alien vs Predator movies are a travesty and these Resident Evil movies are just as bad. I wish Capcom would stop asking him to direct these movies.

Just watched Event Horizon on netflix, it was better the second time around. Kind of a mix of Dead Space and In the Mouth of Madness.

K-mart does return in Afterlife, but I dunno if its the same girl. I don't like the Claire Redfield from Extinction and Afterlife but the actress for her in Apocalypse was HOTTT.

Claire wasn't in Apocalypse, so I'm not sure where you're coming from with that World. Jill was though.

I quite liked Event Horizon... didn't know that it was the same director, but AvP just leaves a sour taste in my mouth every time I hear about it. Talk about abuse. What they put the Xenomorph through by putting it in those movies...

And just looked up the director, he's scheduled to release The Three Musketeers later this year. I just died a little inside.

Was it Jill? I can't keep em straight. I guess I thought she was replaced by Ali Larter cuz I remember she opted out of Extinction to do some failed fantasy movie. You're right though, now that I think about it they musta been two different characters.

RE mythos was never my strong suit. I just like zombies.

Yeah, Christophe Gans directed Silent Hill. He did one of my favorite films ever--Brotherhood of the Wolf. It's an awesome French film--part period piece, part monster movie, part kung fu pic...all awesome!

Brotherhood of the Wolf is an amazing movie definitely high up on my list! The last RE game I played had a scary mansion, save ribbons, and very little ammo. The last RE movie I saw had a frightening little girl, a lot of splitting up, and Michelle Rodriguez. LOL out of the RE loop I guess.

Aeron did a great job describing Brotherhood, it really is a great commentary on the brutal hunting of killer beasts by people in power that are overthrown with science and native american kung-fu (I just threw up a bit) but well done though well worth a look!

So the games are of the horror genre, which is supposed to instill fear and that on edge heart stopping feeling.

The only scary thing about the movies is that they make them at all.

dead space 2 perfect example, ive seen scarier shots of my nan in stockings!
torture porn i like to call them.
shame horror has taken such a slide, there were so many movies & games not even 10 years ago which could make me redecorate my pants.
now days, well the last movie that was paranormal activity, and the last game that did that was doom 3.

Yes games are different. Many horror games do use gore as part of the production but that doesn't mean they rely solely on that for their position. Silent Hill can have actual creep factor to it, but it depends on the mood your in really.

If you're playing Dead Space 2 on a bright Saturday morning while your family flitters around behind you you might miss the subtle nuances of what's taking place in the game.

creepy does not mean horror, anything can be creepy, anything can be suspenseful but very few manage to be scary.
dead space prime example its creepy, every time the ghost appears especially when she tries to stab him.
not scary though, nothing in that game makes me jump.
i found bioshock 2 scarier then dead space, and thats not even suppose to be a horror game!
almost every "horror" game relies on gore for gores sake, F.E.A.R, dead space, silent hill homecoming, SAW, condemned 2.
all those are suspenseful, but thats not exactly hard to do, brutality lends itself to that.
but none of them are a true horror game in the sense they actually scare you, there especially not the horror games that make you remember things.
doom 3 for example, ill never forget the first time i faced the massive dog, i literally repainted the whole house!
i could never play that game with the sound turned up at 4 in the morning, DS2?
no problems!

"horror" movies are in much a better state then horror games.
"horror" movies still at least have psychological horror, ghosts and the supernatural.
games dont though, there constantly relying on gore with supernatural themes like F.E.A.R but never leveraging the horror off ghosts for example.
only game we have had this gen which did not rely on gore for gores sake is alan wake, and thats not even a horror game.
fantastic game, but ive got teddy bears who scare me more then that game!

I heard the 1st two resident evil actually somewhat followed some of scenes from the games but after that 2nd one they into straight action movies no horror in the mix at all. Believe it or not I don't know why but I actually thought those movies were ok yet kinda cool in their own right, not necessarily good, but not all that bad either, I liked them at least I guess because I've never really played any of the games I'm so sure I'd feel different if I did, but thats just me I'm allot people would obviously disagree that the movies or god awful as some of you like to put it & that's evident with the fact that these movies make more money with each sequel so there are a bunch of people who like them otherwise they would have stopped after the 1st.

always enjoyed the RE movies.
just good old fashioned action!
cant remember which one it was, but i remember the part where someone entered the laser room and ended up getting diced, them small cubes off his face start falling off.
never laughed so hard in my entire life!
well, up until this morning in bulletstorm where i kicked one of those orange things onto ishis head then he started running around trying to get it off.
or kick one of those onto a enemy, then kick them into one of the rebar fence and get the scarecrow skill shot.

Maybe they are matching the number of games in the series... not really.

They aren't good but for some reason I keep going watching them. Kinda of like the bad Chinese takeout place conveniently close to my house...quality is horrible, but for some reason I keep going back for more.

this sucks. I tried to like the RE movies after the first one. I could even take the second one. but after that I found myself trying to convince myself I liked them. I am also one of the rare ones that actually thinks the chick that played claire is way hotter that mila javwhateter.

not a fan of blondes personally though lol. anyway, yeah the only reason i will watch this is because my family owns a vide and gaming rental store so its free. theres no way id go to the theater for that.

If he's worked with Whedon, he's fine by me. Actually, just hire Whedon to direct the Uncharted movie. Love some of the work he's done, and it'd almost guarantee either Boreanz or Fillion the role.

Is it just me or could the leading lady of these Resident Evil movies play a spittin' image of Lightning from FF XIII? Wasn't her name Claire in the RE movies? Hmmmm.... who else was named "Claire" in FF XIII?

Mind you, I'm not actually saying that I agree with the notion that a FF 13 movie should be made.

Back to topic: I liked all the Resident Evil movies...but the more they make the less I like of the latest movie. Extinction was...well CRAP! But if they wanna keep going fine with me just stop the madness with the Uncharted film...COME ON!
