Next GTA Is "Rush," Contemporary Los Angeles Setting?
We're sort of hoping the next Grand Theft Auto goes international, but might GTAV return to a familiar region...?
Web-surfing sleuth Superannuation may have located some evidence concerning Rockstar's next entry in their most heralded franchise:
It began when the site dug up an actor's resume that featured a since-deleted mention of mo-cap work for "Grand Theft Auto V." Now, this came from a casting call involving an "interactive project" called "Rush," that supposedly refers to a "contemporary LA-set GTA game." The casting call began on December 6 and sought actors for motion capture and voice work for "8 additional principal characters" on that project. The personas they were seeking included an "annoying, wise-cracking, highly successful FBI agent" and a "Welsh monk, cult leader, yoga teacher" type. Then there's the "weed evangelist," "swinger, mellow California divorcee," and the "publicist for an actress known as America's newest sweetheart." Lastly, pro wrestler Robert Esparza Tweeted- "Got body scanned for my role in the video game "Rush," coming out on Rockstar Games."
So is that enough? Are we talking about GTA or something entirely different from Rockstar? It seems they may be leaving the idea of a period piece behind; Vice City and San Andreas were set in specific periods and places in American history (1980s Miami and 1990s LA/SF). But GTAIV was "contemporary" and set in Liberty City (i.e., New York), so maybe it is indeed time to return to the West Coast. What think you...?

But if we really want a new place to have crime in. Europe is ok, but I don't care much for it. Tokyo is already done by Ryu ga Gotoku so it's alright.
How ABOUT SINGAPORE FOR A CHANGE!?!

no, seriously, i doubt will see this anytime soon because R* north are hard at work on agent.
not to mention were still waiting on max payne 3 and the rumored and definitely in production RDR2.
i want a GTAV more then the next guy, IF they do it right, but i doubt we will be seeing it anytime soon.
not to mention R* always do spin offs before a full increment.

they have no studios left!
plus, you cant announce LA Noire, max payne 3, agent, all but confirm RDR2, and then announce GTAV without releasing a single one of them!
plus GTA is one of the most popular series of all time, so announcing that would be so self destructive!
announce that, and watch the interest and hype for LA noire, max payne 3 and co sink faster then the titanic!
once all those games are out, then announce GTAV.
till then, theres no point, and i doubt 2K are that stupid!

plus, you refuse to consider announcing GTAV now would completley destroy any hype 2K have created for any of their other games!
its like bombing your own building, why would they announce this and completley upstage their own games?
wait till there out, then announce GTAV.

Whatever it is, I hope that R* get their ar*** into gear after the release of L.A. Noire and start telling us about Agent. Feel free to announce this Rush alongside it and hype them both, just throw me a bone damnit! They must be working on more than just Max Payne 3 and Agent, and I want to know about them!
As for the setting, I hope it isn't L. Ehhhh... I just realised something! San Andreas was L.A., yeah? Well, using some slightly broken logic, does anyone else think that this may refer to GTA: San Andreas Stories for the NGP?
Whatever, I'd rather not see them go back to area that they've already done. Give us Washington or Detroit. Hell, why not Alaska or Texas? There are still plenty of places they could go in America, but I can't deny that I'd love to see London, Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.
Peace.

San Andreas had really nice countryside areas, a whole freakin' mountain, little country towns and 3 whole cities!!! AND the gameplay was deep and the story was long.
I hope Rockstar go the way of the previous gen GTAs, GTA III and IV being the simple design city with concentration on tech over content, but future entries (ala Vice City and San Andreas) taking those established mechanics and tech and simply adding gameplay content.
Going back to GTA III after playing San Andreas and Vice City was NOT a pleasant experience. I'm hoping the same goes with this next GTA. So much fun and so much content that GTA IV feels boring and lame next to it.
Again, location, don't really care. As long as it looks good and is fun to play in.

I'd play GTA in any city, and a London/Europe game would be fantastic. It would be nice to see Rockstar do a satire of a city/country that WASN'T America, too. But I won't complain at all if we get to go back to San Andreas.

overall, i'd have to say san andreas was the best game in the series so far. i trust r* to deliver no matter the setting.
i know it would be hard to pull off, but it would be cool if we could travel around the world with stops in say europe or tokyo.

If they follow the freedom and robust array of activities that they had in San Andreas, then it may be a fun game! But I'm not holding my breath, and if I get the itch, I'll just throw in Just Cause 2!
