Tasty Resistance 3 Multiplayer Video

If you're anxiously anticipating Resistance 3, you probably want all the footage you can get.

And for all you future Chimera slayers, here's five solid minutes of some great R3 gameplay. We get to see multiple weapons, including the Bullseye, Shotgun (freshly overhauled for this new installment), the good ol' Carbine, and the Sniper Rifle. It all seems super fluid and very sharp; the visual upgrade in comparison to Resistance 2 is obvious, if not drastic.

You'll also notice that level up part; Insomniac has talked about the enhanced depth and character customization, and we get glimpses of that in this video. We have little doubt that both the single-player and multiplayer elements of Resistance 3 are going to be well worth your attention.

The animations in Resistance always look so stiff. Movement just doesn't feel right. Especially after playing Killzone 2 and 3.

Looks like they fixed the cross hairs. Which is good. I never understood why Insomniac chose to put the cross hairs above the gun instead of letting you actually look down them like in other shooters.

Maybe its cuz I have an older monitor but the visuals didn't look much different than R2. It's okay though, I'll still have it at some point. I'd like some see some KZ quality death animations though.

My girl likes those homing bullets :) kinda looks like a twitchy MW2 clone to me sorry to say. I never got into Resistance and this isn't convincing me to change from BC2 although the different weapons and invisibility do look rather cool, maybe worth a rent.

It looks like a frag-fest to me brotha, I don't want to upset anyone but the kill bonuses and level ups look identical. That's why I stick with Battlefield because it seems there is a lot of strategic things to do - personally, I go down the list when I play BC2 1. Take out the tanks 2. Take out any air units 3. Drop any important cover the enemy could use against my team 4. Hit up the snipers 5. Kill anything that moves comin over that hill - rinse and repeat. When I played MW and BO it was all about fragging, no strategy, that was my experience anyway. I know this is just one small video of one small game-mode but it looks similar and that means I'm not buying it, but maybe renting just to try that invisibility...

Well, Resistance is pretty much a frag fest anyway. I enjoy the atmosphere, guns, and critters myself. It isn't aiming for much of a military vibe like your battlefield games. No harm done there if it isn't your thing but R1 would give you a decent idea of it and you could find it cheap if you are so inclined.

I have to admit.. i was a lil disappointed when I watched this video.

maybe after all this time I was hoping for it to blow me away, but it just looks like something made two years ago.. may be the footage is that old?

Is the video sped up because it seems as if the characters have no weight at all.

It's safe to say I won't be buying this for the MP, I buy games almost solely for the single player or co-op campaign.

It looks like it's 60fps, i didn't see any screen stutter or anything, it looks flawless. The graphics look amazing though.

World is correct. But neither of the 2 games had a heavy feeling to it, and R3 also doesn't seem to have a weighty feel as well in the videos game play.

meh, seems pretty mediocre. I don't think I'll be trading any KZ time for this game. I'd rather Insomniac hang up the Resistance series and stick with Ratchet (Crack in Time was fantastic) or start up some other franchise.

I should come clean and admit that I thought R2 was a pretty big let down so my hopes are relatively low for this one.

please prove me wrong insomniac, but this is looking to be the disappointment of the generation!
police academy 7, godfather 3, matrix revolutions, RE5 all will look like pure gold once this is done!
i always said insomniac dont know how to make a bad game, they came dam close with R2, but looks like they have blown the bottle with this one!
i really want to believe this is just a coincidence, and it has nothing to do with their deal with EA.
but................ well, as i said, it is a little too coincidental.

i said could be, last time i checked that does not mean they will be.
im almost positive R3 will be a disappointment.
no online co-op, limited MP compared to R2, coward story, hale dead, how could it not be?
im sorry, but the best news i have heard about R3 is that the weapon wheels back!

I never like watching multiplayer videos. Ever since I played that session of CoD:BO, it's left me with a bad taste in my mouth of people running about like chickens with their heads cut off, a really bad load-out (I was on a friend's system and he had a sniper rifle by default. I couldn't work out how to find a weapon I could actually use!), campers and a more than a few knifings that simply shouldn't have happened.

P'raps I simply sucked. Either way, this reminds me of that madness, which makes me glad that I'm picking it up for the single player portion, which is actually looking quite decent based on what I've seen of it and heard about the story (Still not happy about no Hale though).

P.S. With Deus Ex: Human Revolution today announced for an August 25 date (in Aus, 23rd for you lads/lasses apparently), who's ready to blow through it in two weeks before tackling the Chimera? Or who's going to hold off on either the one or the other?
If I have my way, I'll just be starting to play catch-up at that point, but I think R3 will come first.

I took some of your guys' advice (Ben in particular) and went out and bought Resistance 1 yesterday for $10 at gamestop.....to try and get caught up for this game. Good GAWD, this game is showing its age...especailly compared to the video of R3, and after playing hours upon hours of KZ2/KZ3.

Oh well, I'm just going to plow through it and get Resistance 2 sometime this summer to be all caught up.

I was echoing pretty much what everyone has already said, including yourself that the series has come a long way based on the quality of this R3 video and that the killzone series runs circles around the first two resistance games (granted I haven't tried R2 yet.)

Anyone besides me think that Teleporting move was pretty cool? I wonder if you can use it to go onto higher areas with it or not, but i can just imagine the things you can do with that in the game.

Lookin good! Never played the second one; I didn't like the demo very much. But the multiplayer for this one looks pretty solid. Those characters were moving pretty fast though, crazy; like sliding on ice. lol

When does this come out?

Wow, I think I'm the only one posting on this article who actually liked R2 (at least from what I can gather from everyone's posts).

Anyways, R3's looking great. The graphics are far improved over the 2nd game's (which were good for the time, but have definitely aged), and the gameplay looks like a good cross between R1 and R2 (and a little bit of CoD with the killstreaks, but as long as that's where the similarities with CoD end then I'll be okay). The running does look a bit odd at first, and so does the reload animation for the Carbine, but I got used to it by the end of the vid.

Also, for those saying this game looks mediocre, it may not have the graphics or realism of KZ3, but that's why Resistance is great: its always completely unrealistic, yet fun as hell. Both games are great IMO.
