Rising Director: PS3 Version "Better Than Other Versions"
While Metal Gear Solid: Rising is coming to multiple platforms, the die-hard fans are thinking it might be best on the PS3.
There are multiple reasons for believing that, but perhaps they're right: according to a new interview with Rising director Shigenobu Matsuyama, the PS3 version will be better simply because it's the more powerful piece of hardware. The translation is broken but Matsuyama's intention is relatively clear, and he finishes as follows: "So it is natural that the PS3 version is better than the other two versions." One could assume it's all because of the PS3's capabilities, or one could remember this particular team is likely comprised of individuals who are much more familiar with Sony's hardware. Granted, Kojima is only a figurehead - of sorts - when it comes to this project; he isn't directly involved. But just about anything MGS from Kojima Productions just has to be best played on the PS3, yes?
It's all the worse for the other two platforms (Xbox 360, PC) if they're planning on ports. We're actually hoping they make the game from the ground up for all three platforms; nobody likes shoddy ports. But either way, if you have the option, it seems Metal Gear Solid: Rising for the PS3 is the right choice.

Anyway, MGS is a PS series as far as I'm concerned, like Tekken, so I'll be gunning for the PS3 version.

It's not really a secret that Microsoft has a tonne of money and they aren't afraid to throw it around and give developers incentives for timed DLC, exclusive content, and other things of that nature.
When a company like Microsoft is flashing money around and has the PR power that they do, a business would naturally be inclined to give them a little extra attention.

i can only think of 2. ff13, and castlevannia los. i do trust kojima to deliver on this promise, unlike so many other developers. ubisoft saying ac2 on the ps3 looked just as good as the 360 version is just a flat out lie.

Isn't that what everyone thought before the PS3 launched? Has that reasoning always been a clear indicator of a "better" multiplat game?
When the rubber met the road clearly there were more variables in play that affected multiplatform quality outside of "power." If anything it's a lack of effort on Sega's part (Bayonetta), Tryearch's part (Black Ops).
So please don't confuse my post with a reason to attack Kojima team, and I clearly declared that the PS3 version would be my platform of choice.
I too have confidence that MGS:Rising will at least be as good as the 360 version. I suspect the team will make few programming concessions for the game like many multiplatform devs do when factoring for the 360.
and btw, I doubt Kojima touched a line of code in LoS as Mercury Steam a euro team developed it.

Like I said, this isn't 2007 anymore and the differences in games is negligible. If Kojima Pro says Rising will be better on PS3 there is no reason not to believe them unless you have an axe to grind which it sometimes seems you do since you are the one constantly reminding us "how much better" multiplats are on the 360.
And you know as well as I do that we don't need "superior" multiplats to prove the PS3 is superior hardware. PS3 exclusives have already proved that point.

I'm not trying to prove the power of the PS3, it's already common sense here isn't it? That's not the question.
If Kojima's help was highly involved right down to programming the lines of code, so be it. I doubt it, but I don't have any evidence their to know for certain, so I'll leave that point alone.
But why is it so difficult for you to wrap your mind around the idea that because the PS3 is so much more powerful why do we still see multiplats that come up below 360? The reasoning Shigenobu Matsuyama is using doesn't explain this phenomena. I say it's easier said than done because this generation, as a whole, has proven that as far as multiplats are concerned, it's easier to say PS3 multiplats are better, but obviously it's not so easy because there's so many PS3 under performers out there.. You just tried to narrow the scope of that statement towards Kojima Team alone where that was not my intention. Nice try =p
Oh, and btw, I think yours and Covertron's conspiracy theory can be logged in the book of weightless mythical accusations as far I'm concerned. And with any known evidence I can infer upon, both Sony and MS pay up money to make enhanced versions of multiplats (see Batman, see CoD map packs).
I'm not going to keep spinning my wheels so you can keep pace, Jawknee. I think I'll let you make your argumentative quips and I'll just deal with it because I'm getting tired of wearing these "kitty gloves" around your sensitivities.

Here we go:
Temjin001 according to Jawknee:
The panty wearing, arrogant, "self appointed gurus of game design" worshiping, Fox news idealist, who sounds like a rep from MS that plays with ninja toys and needs to grow up.
'thumps chest with fist'
I'm feeling it right here, man.

This is why you need to relax. Here, I'll be nice. Sweet dreams cutie pie. :)
Oh, and...I never called you a Fox News Idealist. You're confusing me with someone else. I happen to think Fox does a decent job most of the time. O.o I also never called you a "self proclaiming guru of game design." I was talking about DF.

Isn't that Fox News's mantra?
"self appointed gurus of game design" worshiping"
see the "worshiping," Jawknee? That's a verb. Think about it.
*sigh* yeah, I'm correcting you again ;)
and, ah, thanks for the goodnight kiss, sugar.
thanks for the volley of banter today, too (it was just a little fun ;)
I'm sure we gave some of the readers a nice show tonight ;)

So as for the waiting part...well believe or not I actually already knew that. What I said was an simply an expression of my excitement for these games that I would like to play THIS year, but I know neither is going too release no later than next year.

I also liked Lords of Shadow quite a bit. More than I thought I would. I will likely be getting the DLC for it as I need a reason to go back to the game. :)
EDIT: I must apologize to you too. In rereading my post I can see how it was easy to think my comment was meant towards you. :)

What bugs me is that PCs can be more powerful(Ok, PS3 is a beast but 2000$ hardware can top it) so maybe they somehow admit that it won't be a smooth port.

I hope that it is true what they say. The announcement that MGS:Rising is coming to Xbox 360 was a huge let down for me. A watered down game for PS3 is almost in every case an inevitable consequence. Maybe the prove otherwise.

Well, it's good to hear that Kojima has indoctrinated his workers with the PS3 superiority mentality, and I hope that they can succeed in pushing the system as far as they can, while keeping it within the working limits of the 360. Multiple DVDs FTW! Or maybe we'll just get some longer cutscenes. >.>
I'd really like to know what Kojima himself is working on.
Peace.

@ justalongnamewithnumbers- if you liked any of the other MGS games, you will like MGSIV. The story is great, ties up alot of lose ends. The gameplay is phenomenal. And the graphics are tight. And the octocamo is wicked sweet. That's about as many different words as I can come up with to say that the game is worth it!!

Not expecting anything near MGS4, but it is sure to be incredibly fun.
I have a PS3 and 360, I just prefer using the PS3. I'm glad to hear the best version is on the PS3.
