PSN Exclusive Rainbow Moon: A Lengthy Strategy/RPG

The PSN is getting some love from the people who brought you the Soldner-X games.

SideQuest Studios has revealed Rainbow Moon, a strategy/RPG that utilizes an isometric view, for the PlayStation Network. Set to release in Q4 2011, you can check out some early artwork and other info - most of it "Coming Soon" - at the game's official site, which just opened. Running at a beautiful 60 frames per second throughout, this game will offer 6 playable characters, a 25-hour adventure (which goes over 100 if you include all the side-quests, missions, etc.), and a "sophisticated grid turn-based battle system." See, we're liking that part. Also featuring "unique action and puzzle elements" in over 20 dungeons and 50 quests, this one should get you a ton of bang for your buck. It seems that our favorite mechanics of the past have been relegated to the land of portable software or digital downloads, but provided turn-based still exists somewhere, I think I can survive.

I'll be very interested to see Rainbow Moon, that's for sure. Strategy/RPG aficionados everywhere should be intrigued.

I'll definitely be watching this one. I loved both Soldner games so this has great potential.

grrr. I mean, thanks for the effort guys. Personally I'd love to see some turn based rpgs show up on PSN that don't use the strategy grid. That thing annoys me. These days it would cost like four dollars to make a game as great as the old PS1 RPGs so where are they?

No strategy grid? So no FFT-like games?

World..., that's just like saying that turn-based rpgs should not change screens and put you into an unmovable battlefield like in the old FF games.

Grids are very important in strategy rpgs.

I like the grid, personally, but I get what World says too. A good example of turn-based gridless strategy RPG is Growlancer Generations which released for PS2 and contains Growlancer 2 and 3.

Good games!!

WOAH, I'm not saying none for anybody I'm saying me myself personally would like to see some non grid stuff. Big difference. The PS2 arc the lads did it well.

Sorry Ben I'm as big an FF guy as you but FFT was a no go for me.

I expect there may be a trial version for which you can unlock the full version.

Looks interesting, definitely have my eyes on this.

Is it just me or are strategy rpgs becoming the good rpgs? They actually have the good storylines we're looking for.

I haven't played a good turn-based RPG since Valkyria Chronicles.

Why are they releasing it on PSP only!?!?!?

I miss the good ol' days of Final Fantasy VII - X being the highest rated and considered the greatest RPGs of all time.

But hey, at least we have them on PSN (cept FF-X) and there's always my PS2 to hook up whenever I feel like getting my FF X or XII fix. Or even my Time Crisis 2 and 3 fix. Or San Andreas fix. OR SSX Tricky, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, MGS 2 Substance and 3 Subsistence fix. ICO and Shadow of the Colossus fix. Or Devil May Cry trilogy and Silent Hill 2 fix. Or Resident Evil Code Veronica and 4 fix. Or Timesplitters 2, LOTR Return of the King or Fahrenheit fix.

... I loves me PS2 collection!!! XD

BTW, didn't include Sly Trilogy or God of War 1 and 2 since I have 'em on PS3. Gotta love those HD remakes!!! And this wait for the Team ICO HD Collection is just AGONY!!!!

Awesome, these are the types of games I love to hear about. Lengthy rpgs of the turn based variety. Thank you sidequest studios.
