Mass Effect 2 Final Chapter Arrives Later This Month

Some people just can't get enough of Mass Effect 2.

BioWare has announced the final mission for the award-winning RPG: Arrival. Available on March 29, this expansion content will feature three new Achievements/Trophies and a chance to play as protagonist Commander Shepard one more time. An undercover operative may have evidence of an imminent Reaper invasion, and returning in this last chapter is fan favorite Admiral Hackett, who is voiced by legendary sci-fi actor Lance Henriksen ("Alien," "Terminator"). Said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer for the ME series:

"All year, we have been extremely honored and humbled by the reception we have received for Mass Effect 2 from players around the world, including our post release DLC. Mass Effect: Arrival is an exciting extension to Mass Effect 2 and will show players just how close the Reapers are to returning and completing their deadly harvest."

The press release we have is European so the price is listed as £5.49 on PlayStation Network, and 560 Microsoft Points.

Awesome. I've been pleased with most of the DLC put out for ME2 so I'm not worried I'll be disappointed with this one.

So ps3 owners had to pay $60 for a 1 year old game, being told that it comes with all the old content, that's why it's full price.

Except that at release their were new add ons you had to pay extra for and now here's some more.

I read that their is another add on coming out other than this one. Called "The Arrival"

I thought they were working on Mass Effect 3?

It did come with all the story element DLC, the extra stuff was purely that, extra. This is The Arrival as Sven and Gohan pointed out, read the article. And yes they are working on ME3, again, as previously stated.

Man this DLC crap is annoying, but I can't help but feel the need to buy a $20 PSN card so I can get this and ACBrotherhoods DLC. I guess I have to give in as I loved both games, but still. Seriously though, I loved ME2 so this is a no brainer for me.

While the DLC was mostly good. Project overlord,and Shadowbroker were my favorites. This new DLC looks epic. Lets hope we can play as Hackett.

if its anything as epic as Shadowbroker and Overlord(not including the hammerhead vehicle part in overlord, that crap annoyed me) im down for it. hell, who am i kidding, i have all of the dlc for the game so far, including the weapon packs, whats another 7 dollars? *not many games id say that about*

I dig the game (trying to juggle it with Dragon Age II) but I don't think I can spend even more money on it with Mortal Kombat and Duke Nukem coming. Whatever the ending to ME2 is will have to be good enough for me until ME3. I don't much like this idea of DLC that you kinda need. I wanted the Witchhunt for DA:O but with DAII right around the corner I didn't wanna pay for that too. DLC is a sensitive issue ya know.

As far as I'm aware it's not a necessity to have for the story but I loved the game that much that anything added to it is a bonus and I will likely buy it. Shadow Broker was great.

... So is there anything more after the Hammerhead missions? Oh man, I thought that was it! So I didn't bother finishing that friggin annoying level with the islands in the lava (if I remember correctly).

Other than that, if every dlc was like these ones for ME2 then I would have no rejections against dlc at all. It's a world of difference between adding "mini-stories" like these to a game you love and those dlc packs that basically are features or maps that could (and should!) have been there with the main product.
Like the DLCs for Red Dead Redemption, paying for those left a very sour taste in my mouth (still, I "had" to buy them cause of network play and buddies having them. Rockstar know exactly what they are doing).

Just the excuse I need to start that fourth play through! I'm a bit ambivalent about the whole DLC thing too, but in the case of truly first class games like ME2 I see it as an extra "thank you" to the devs in buying these things. Nothing at all to do with my being an obsessive completest or anything...

really want to give this another playthrough because i really want to get a ending where no one dies.
dont think i can though, at least with this save because i pissed jack off and i think thats why she keeps dying.
i just know TIM is going to betray you in ME3, just the look he gives as you walk out looking at the collector ship.
never trusted him!

well depending on your ending in ME2, if you didn't salvage some of the collector/reaper hardware, you break off from Cerberus and he gets pissed. So, in no way will I be surprised if he tries to get me back ;).

I pissed Jack off too but none died for me. Is it even possible *not* to piss her off?
I think it simply is a matter of collecting all the ship enhancements and get all party members loyal prior to starting the final chapter.

i think it is possible, in my first playthrough i had her loyal to me and Miranda normal i took jacks side.
then the 2nd playthrough i decided to do it the other way around because shes with cerberus and has allot of contacts, plus shes in high terms with TIM, so it seemed she would be of better use then jack for ME3.

ah, thats the thing, by pissing her off i meant i took Mirandas side instead of jacks.
i did all the loyalty missions, but no matter what you do you always get one character not loyal, depending on whos side you take the other person goes from loyal to normal.
well, no matter what i do thats how it turns out.
it will be interesting to see what happens, i ended up doing what he wanted in the last level, so i cant understand why hes so pissed.
i think they just did one ending video no matter what you did to save time and money.
anyway, will be interesting to see how that changes what happens in ME3.
TIM wont kill you, your too important and, well, to be blunt the human race, and cerberus is f*cked without you and he knows it.
i dont trust him in one bit, but i doubt hes going to bite back at you because if he does, you will refuse to help him and, well, he would effectively be shooting himself in the foot.
so cant wait to find out what happens though!

Oh yes that picking-side thing, that came *so* without warning and was one tricky choise! I actually ended up just like you, defended Jack first, but then I regretted it and went back to a save prior to the choise (I always got 5-6 saves in circulation on these games), and defended Miranda.

I can't wait for me3 either - I hope I will be able to kill TIM! He's just one annoying prick, never liked him.

And it can't be one ending video cause Jack survived, they all survived, for me! Everyone did, the video was like one happy family, glory glory hallelujah. I even imagine Jack still being loyal, but I have to go back and recheck that.

did you use her for any part of the final mission?
i did not, i left her back to defend the doors with the rest of the group, and at the end when shepard asks if everyone made it back joker says all the survivors are on board, then i get a cut scene showing jacks dead body, then i leap aboard the normandy.

Looking forward to it. Have thoroughly enjoyed this series since it first launched. Though it is funny to see all the love this game is getting from the PS3 players now when before a majority didn't care that it was coming to the PS3. Anyways, Bioware needs to add a ton of RPG goodness to Mass Effect 3 to make up for all the shortcomings of Dragon Age 2.

And even tho I had a 360 for some reason I didn't buy it at first XD Just recently bought it on PS3 because I didn't want to go through number 1 and preferred the comic option and all the dlc.
