Red Faction: Battlegrounds Hits April 5, Free For Plus Members
How many more incentives do you need before you finally spring for that PlayStation Plus membership?
A reader has forwarded us an e-mail they received from Sony; it was sent to certain Network subscribers and contained release information on THQ's new downloadable title, Red Faction: Battlegrounds. They confirm the game will arrive on April 5 on the PSN with a price tag of $9.99, and there's a big bonus for those Plus peeps: if you've been a member since before March 25, you'll get Battlegrounds for free. Now, we're not sure if this applies to absolutely everyone, or just those who got the e-mail, so don't get too excited just yet. However, we'll just make the optimistic assumption and remind you that the latest RF adventure should be great for all multiplayer aficionados: mechs, tanks, rovers and other vehicles will meet on the battlefield and offer different game modes (Survival, Annihilate, and Flag Frenzy) for up to four players. Those four players can compete either locally or online, if you need to know.
Even if you didn't get the e-mail and even if you aren't interested in the game in question, we'll still recommend that Plus membership. It usually pays for itself in the first month.

If you have to pay for plus, why are we now required to have payed for it so long in advance before a game is released? This better not become common. No one is going to want plus if you are required to have it a certain amount of time to receive the perks.
