PSXE Poll Update: PSXE Videos To Stick With Commentary

We're not about to travel blindly down the YouTube video path without valuable reader feedback.

We asked you what you'd most like to see on our new YouTube Channel, and the majority have opted to keep things simple: just stick with the video commentary. While a fair amount wanted stuff like podcast media and Q&As, it seems obvious that we should remain focused on our video reviews. Or, to clarify, our video commentary: as a reminder, what we've produced for Killzone 3 and Dragon Age II are not "video reviews;" we are sticking to the text (yeah, sorry, you have to read) for the formal reviews. The video aspect is just added commentary for the bigger titles, and if you have a suggestion, let us know. We do plan on doing a few other things on the YouTube Channel but don't worry, it will always be game-related and it'll never steal the focus away from what we've always done. It's an addition; an elaboration, if you will.

This week, we want your take on this whole Crysis 2 fiasco. Crytek talked a big game leading up to the launch of the game this week, and although the demo didn't go over well, many are now claiming the PlayStation 3 version is plenty solid. Do you believe Crytek? Or do you think PS3 owners got screwed again? Or maybe you just don't think Crysis 2 is all that great, regardless of platform... Let us know.

I really want Q&A in some form. My take on Crysis is that I believe the ps3 version is inferior but I don't know that for fact so I'm going to wait for reviews and see. I still want the game but not if it's crappy.

Well Ben's pretty good at reading the comments a replying to questions and whatnot, but perhaps they could add a question tab on the side of the page or something and Ben could pick a few to answer during the weekly review.

I really thought a Podcast of sorts would be cool, a roundtable if you will for all the news of the week. Something I could carry around with me and view anytime would be a nice addition. Not only that, it would be a chance to be a little more personal for us readers, being to not only be able to hear your voice but see your faces as well. You could also have some of your guest appearances on the show. perhaps it could even replace the week in review one day. Just some thoughts.

Before a whole lot of people say, "but I wanted-!" let me remind you that we're working on something else, something that will deliver a lot of what we won't normally do on the YouTube Channel. :)

I won't be getting Crisis 2, but it's never good for the PS3 to get poopy multiplats. Apparently that isn't the case, but Crytek gave no reason to think otherwise for many months.

I think the youtube channel should accept video game music videos created by PSXE members. Those are always fun.

I am with you World on that "poppy multi-plat" comment... Crysis may well be in a crisis! I tried on Sunday to give it a whirl on my North American account, and the multilayer demo couldn't connect. Quite poor.

I like Dragon Age II and I'll definitely beat it, but I don't love it like I did with Origins. I gave DAII an 8.3

Killzone 3

Can't wait for the surprise Ben. Haven't been as active as normal, but this is still my number one source for Playstation info. Heck, only site I actually trust in terms of facts, thoughtful discussions, etc.

Again, Crysis fails when put next to KZ2/KZ3.

just watch the vid its clearly better looking than the demo, but im still not fully convince it looks as good as crytek still saying it is on the ps3. ill just wait till what the reviews say about it, than rent it to see if its as good as the review say it is, only if the reviews are good of course. straight up crysis 2 the console version got nothing on kz3. when uc3 comes out crytek will see what real visuals look like on a console and pc.

Most know I'm no fan of fps and what I've seen and read of Crysis 2, I've no desire to play it.

Sorry but it's mediocre to the people who actually like it, I've no desire to play it, ever.

I don't really care about Crysis. I need to get around to picking KZ3 up first, and that won't be for months yet. Then I've got Resistance, Deus Ex and then Bioshock next year. There's just no time for a regular FPS that I have no vested interest in.

As far as I can tell, that's the last I'll have to say about Crysis for quite some time, so don't bait me.

i remember reading a article from a dev a while back saying we cant do betas anymore because people bi*** and whine how broken it is instead of helping identify bugs and fix them.
first did not believe him, but this whole fiasco had proved him right!
i just cant understand why people got so worked up about it, i mean who the f*ck cares!?
if yous were so heffed up on the best performance possible you would all be on the PC.
you know, my game designer teacher once told me ps3 fanboys are so anal.
told him he was crazy........... turns out he was right!

i care about the ps3 getting inferior multiplats. i think that has done a lot of damage to the ps3, and i just want it to stop. people say the ps3 is the more powerful console, yet we get these multiplat ports at lower resolutioins and with frame rate issues.

i give a lot of credit to me2 for not pulling any tricks on the ps3 by lowering the resolution. i hate it when i hear of games doing that on the ps3 like rdr, and gta.

i never bought into the crysis2 hype, but i was kind of hoping the cryengine would be more ps3 friendly so it would even things up on multiplat front. things are a lot better than the were, but it's still not quite where it should be.

I really thought all the ideas you offered for youtube were good ideas, and I would have chosen all the above if I could have. But having to pick one, I decided the game videos would be best.

It is good you are looking into "other things" though.
