Kojima Set To Announce Two New Projects At E3?

All his fans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of his next project...or should we say, projects?

The last time we heard from Hideo Kojima, he was showing off the power of the NGP (Next Generation Portable) by presenting a demo of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. It was sort of like a "look what this portable unit can do" situation, and it was nifty. But now, a new rumor has placed the Metal Gear Solid creator in the spotlight once again: according to PSM3 (as noted by PS3Center), Kojima might announce not one, but two new games at E3 this year:

"MGS maestro Hideo Kojima's got some big announcements for E3 in June: one a quasi-logical step for an existing game, the other... well, we'd be shocked if MGS5 wasn't on the table at some stage. Or under it. In a box."

Yeah, we know some of you are desperately hoping for Zone of the Enders 3, but Kojima has stated several times that ZoE3 is on the back burner for now. MGS5 does seem like a possibility but we'd also be interested in seeing an overhauled high-def remake of Peace Walker for the PlayStation 3. But whatever Kojima announces at E3 will be sure to garner plenty of attention and generate a ton of excitement.

Definitely a NGP game and probably a ps3 game? MGS5, it's about time!

Whatever it is can't wait to see how he wows us, Kojima knows how to make stuff that always wows you so I expect no less.

Don't you guys remember about 3-4 months back when Konami registered something along the lines of: "Next Generation Metal Gear Solid." Hmmm...well I wonder what that could possibly be, and what console that could be for?

As for his other game, I'll expect it to be amazing just as every other game he has made and makes.

whatever it is, it will probably be multiplat. that's okay i guess becuase kojima will make sure the ps3 version is the best. i absolutely love the metal gear games. so many great memories playing the 1st game on the ps1. the story, and all that voice acting really pulled me into the world of metal gear. there really wasn't anything quite like it at the time. it cast a huge shadow over my other games, and made them all seem inferior somehow.

i share your guys hopes that mgs5 remains exclusive, but i don't see how konami can ignore the 360's marketshare. if there was one 3rd party title i'd like to see sony fight for this would be it. it's a proven system seller.

They aren't ignoring the 360's market share. They are releasing Rising. It's not unlike Kojima to try and figure out ways to stay loyal to Sony. You could tell just by the look on his face he wasn't all that excited about being on the MS stage to announce Rising. He was much more enthusiastic about Peace Walker the following day when he announced it would be coming exclusively to the PSP.

yes i remember that appereance vividly. i shared his pain, and just thought to myself how did it come to this. the fact that rising is on the 360 leads me to believe that if there is a mgs5 it will be on the 360 as well. the only way mgs5 would remain ps3 exclusive is if sony tries to lock it down somehow. that kind of goes against their philosophy, but i can dream. ps3 peacewalker exclusive would be nice with 2 analog sticks.

btw guys, there is a crysis 2 multiplayer demo up on psn. i'm downloading it now to see what all the fuss is about. it may be psn plus only, though.

Or....Maybe Kojima could make the game too big for 360 like he did with MGS4? Remember he complained the even the PS3 wasn't big enough to realize his full vision for MGS4. There are ways. He seems to have enough leverage over at Konami to possibly get things done the way he wants. He's one of their top board members if I remember correctly. Well see though friend. Have hope! :)

Jawknee has a good point. The 360 really can't handle the SIZE of Kojima's games. But then again, the Xbox has shown that they aren't afraid to put multiple discs in the box....since they had to do it for freakin' DS2, there's no telling how many discs they would need for a MGS game.

By the way, Otacon's joke on swapping discs in MGS4 was awesome!

There are quite a few Easter eggs. I used a guide to find them all. :)

In order to get all the goodies for doing the Big Boss Emblem challenge you need to beat the game following this criteria.

- Complete in under 5:00 hours

- Have 0 continues

- Use 0 health items (Rations, Noodles, Regain)

- Have 0 Alerts

- Have 0 kills

- Use of special items (Stealth/Bandana) is forbidden.

- Complete on The Boss Extreme mode

It's quite a task but it's achievable. I managed to do it my first try. Completed it in 4 hours and 57 minutes.

For doing so you get the Big Boss Emblem, the Boss's Patriot Weapon from MGS3, Big Boss FaceCamo and the Big Boss iPod song.

thank you for the info. it's nice there is a user review, but why is there no main review? you would think a major psp release would be covered here. surely, it deserves a review just as much as prinny:operation panties dood!

btw the crysis 2 demo won't connect. i knew it got pulled in europe, so i was kind of surprised to find it in the psn store here. from what gameplay i did see i wasn't very impressed. everything looks washed out.

I wouldn't mind a new Metal Gear Solid announcement, but it would have to be for the NGP. Announcing another one for the PS3 would just draw attention away rom Rising, and I doubt that that is something that he wants. It would make PS3 owners forget about Rising, allowing the 360 to have the maximum market share and would make Konami think that they're more appreciative of the series, and force the newest title to go multiplatform. Or not.

I still think MGS needs to rest. So, how about one is that 'taboo' project that he kept yarning on about last year? While the other goes to the NGP. Or 'Taboo' and ZoE, or Castlevania: LoS2?

i believe castllevannia 2 is already in the works. let the 360 have rising, as long as we got an exclusive mgs5 that would be awesome. risiing is more of spin off, anyways. i'm not so sure a main mg title would spoil mgs rising sales on the ps3. mg fanatics will get it regardless, and surely there are more mg fans on the ps3.

i will try to hold out hope that if it is mgs5 it will remain ps3 exclusive. the only thing that worries me about that is how japanese dev covet the u.s. market. right now there are a lot more 360's in u.s. than ps3's.

Whatever it is I hope it's exclusive to the PS3. Not because of some fanboy selfishness, I just don't want the game to be limited. I was blown away with MGS4 in 2008, just imagine what he could do now. I would love Peacewalker on the PS3, I'm not into handheld gaming anymore. I said before that MGS4 ended the series perfectly but I trust Kojima, MGS5 would be ok with me.

Whats sad is that we have to add a "not for fanboy reasons" disclaimer to comments made in regards to wanting certain games to stay exclusive.

Some people are far too sensitive and haven't realized yet, for what ever reason, that certain games need to be exclusive in order the get the attention from the developer they deserve. Making games for one console without having to worry about another is always better for the end product. Allows the developer to exploit the hardware for all it's worth. :)

I agree. I'm coming from the terrible Gametrailers forums and guys get super pissed if you use the word exclusive and PS3 in the same sentence. I would love for the 360 to have a lot of quality exclusive games to justify owning one, there's nothing better than having multiple platforms that all have their own unique library of games.

An PS3 exclusive game is bound to be superior just because of its technical prowess compared to the 360.

If Kojima Productions could make MG5 just as good on 360 without hindering the PS3 version, I'm all for it. The more people that get to experience the game the better.

However being in the situation we're in, the 360 owners only have themselves to blame. They chose a technically inferior console.

i have absolute confidence in kojima to pull off a mgs5 no matter how it seemed things ended in mgs4. no on the snake's apprentice idea. kind of did that with mgs2, and people were most unhappy. who was it here that had the idea for mgs sunny addidition? that really cracked me up. i know they were joking, but it still made me laugh.

I really do love the MGS series, but yes I'm one of those who desire a 3rd Zone of the Enders, quite desperately. The good thing is, I'll be happy either way. As long as he's aware there's definitely a following for a 3rd ZoE...enough for him to actually mention it..., then I'd say it's a good chance we'll be seeing it in the future.

I really don't want an MGS5. As awesome as it would be, and as good as the story could be, I see no reason to extend the story past the ending of MGS4. MGS4 ended the series so well that no sequel, IMO, could ever follow it up, no matter how good it is.

I don't even really want a PS3 version of Peace Walker that much. Its already as good as it can be on PSP, no trophies or HD required. As for an HD Collection of the first three MGS games, I'd be more open to that. Its been a long time since I've played any of those, and to re-experience them in glorious HD would be something special.

However, as much as I'd like an HD Collection, I'd much rather have a new IP from you Kojima, or possibly a sequel to some of your other series (ZoE3?). Put your creativity to use in other things, and let MGS rest as one of the greatest series in gaming ever.

Whatever he does decide to do, I have no doubt it'll be great. I'm just hoping he decides to do something new.

Maybe he will, maybe he won't. But where's the headliner for Crysis 2, that has received rating 90+ from all reviews but one (Playstation Universe, 8/10) so far? Isn't that worth a headliner too? Since it's the topic of the current vote and all?

good point. the crysis 2 reviews are surprising. psxe can be a little slow getting out headlines. that cage headline about owning the genre was on the sixth axis for a week before it got here. we sure have got our share of cod headlines this month, though. classics like hey hollywood where's my cod movie. god knows we don't talk about cod enough.

a kojima headline just makes me feel better about gaming all the sudden. a breath of fresh air.

Keep in mind though, that an MGS5 doesn't necessarily have to take place AFTER MGS4. Snake Eater and Peace Walker both take place before the original Metal Gear.

I was just thinking though, if it is MGS5 and it DOES take place after 4... will it be the same without Snake? Sons of Liberty didn't have Snake as the main character, but he was still there.

Metal Gear without Snake might be a bit odd at first.

Ah, well, I'll just push the action button and move on.

Speaking of Metal Gear, did anyone else catch the awesome MGS reference in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow? And I don't mean the headband and Solid Eye.

If there is a MGS5 that takes place AFTER MGS4....it WILL feature Snake.

Raiden has his own game now, so it wouldnt be based on him. The only other thing, would be a new character, and to be honest that is a good possibility.
