Quantic Dream: Sony Has "The Best Studios In The World"
It's no surprise that Quantic Dream boss David Cage thinks highly of Sony, and it's encouraging to know he has no plans to sever that partnership.
After the tremendous success of Heavy Rain, many have asked if Cage and Co. will start developing games for the Xbox 360 and other platforms, but the answer is clear: no. In speaking to CVG, Cage said Sony "trusted" his team from the start and thus far, the global electronics corporation has never let them down:
"Being a part of a company with what are probably the best studios in the world is something really pleasant for us. We're happy to continue this relationship and create content for the PlayStation brand. But they fund our projects, so we're staying exclusive to PlayStation.
I am very loyal in general - or I try to be. I know that trusting me is always a big risk and when people do, I feel like I owe them something. It's not just because I want to thank them, though. We have a relationship that works, we're excited by the platform - we think it's the best platform out there. We're glad to continue to work this way."
He also said they routinely talk to other Sony-exclusive studios like Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Guerrilla, and Media Molecule. "We talk about technology, best practice, how we do things - we share experience and expertise. I think that's of real value for everybody." For our part, we're fairly certain Quantic Dream can utilize their talents best on the PS3, so we're fine with this decision.

However, the ideal scenario would be that every game console had top AAA quality exclusives. As well as having it's core base actively supporting such games.
Since this will only help the home console market remain as the MAIN market in the gaming world.
Because at present, a lot of the attacks are not merely a result of in-fighting between fanboys from the console market. But instead they're coming mostly from the mobile gaming world and the industry/media that is in bed with Apple and Facebook.
During the last Game Developers Conference, the point was made that mobile/social gaming was currently dominating the scene.
And some even hinted at the possibility that the home console market was becoming irrelevant. Since devs had a better chance at making a profit on mobile devices and Facebook.
Thus why the point was made that cheap disposable social games were the 'IN' thing now.
So we gotta be careful about who we consider enemies in a war that not only involves consoles. The days were the fight involved only 3 sides are def over.

Perhaps the biggest war is not between the 360, ps3, and wii like many believe to be so. Maybe the handheld market and casual market are the greater competition.

Seriously, what happened this gen that we can't even declare exclusives to be the cream of the crop without a bunch of rabid exclusive haters jumping down your throat accusing you of insulting their great and almighty Xbox. Xbox has some okay games. They just seem a bit generic to me when compared to Sony's and Nintendo's top notch projects.
Anyway, looking forward to their next game. What ever they make is a day one buy for me.

To me its all in the marketing. Flash enough lights in peoples eyes and they are yours to control. What I find strange is the level of loyalty the Xbots have. It is like a drug. I own both and clearly see which is the better product.

That said, I have no ill will towards Insomniac for starting a new multiplat IP, but if they took Resistance multiplat I might not be so happy ya know.

I wish all the studio's had this mindset, I'd rather every dev wanted to make the best game possible regardless of console. I just want my games to be the best they can be and there seem to be so many devs who just don't care about quality. They just want to shove their games out so they can make a quick and easy profit.
I'll be looking forward to QD's next game and I know there is a very good chance I'll buy it quick.

Radical Dreamers
Timothy Leary isn't remembered for his contributions to video games. The controversial pop theorist's body of work consists of exactly one game and a handful of prototypes.
For Leary, the trouble with making finished products was a matter of self-restraint. Leary had lofty ideas about the role and function of games. He wanted them to be intimate experiences. He thought they could exhibit the ultimate potential of the mind. As a result, overambitious ideas sunk most of his projects before they ever got started.
Once, during a seminar on Mind Mirror, Leary's one and only finished game, which was published by Electronic Arts in 1985, an attendee expressed disappointment with the outcome. Leary promptly apologized, explaining that "the next version will feature such dimensions as psychic sensitivity, telepathy, psychedelic excellence, mastery of your own brain, the ability to jump levels, inter-neurological gymnastic skills, and, oh yeah, the erotic."

do something different, a crime thriller would be nice.
maybe something like LA Noire or condemned 2.
or a supernatural psychological thriller like alan wake.
i love games that play with the insanity card, have events happen then question there reality.
thats one part i felt DS2 fell well short of, they could of really pushed it allot further!
