Mortal Kombat: Roster And Trophies
The hotly anticipated Mortal Kombat reboot isn't far off, and we're willing to bet the fighting followers are getting antsy.
Well, it seems we may have the full roster list along with all the Trophies/Achievements. Provided you don't mind a little spoiler or two (it's a fighting game; let's not get our panties in a twist), you should head on over to ModernGames 101 to check out the info:
As you can see, all your favorites are here, including Kung Lao, Liu Kang, Jax, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Kano, Cyrax, Kitano and more, and as for the "suspected characters," they list Kabal, Smoke, Human Sektor, and Scarlet. The latter isn't actually a rumor; game producer Han Lo already confirmed her existence as a downloadable character. Getting all the Trophies seems borderline impossible unless you spend the next three months playing...there's "The Krypt Keeper (Unlock 100% of the Krypt), "Arcade Champion" (Complete Arcade Ladder with All Fighters), "There Will Be Blood" (Spill 10,000 Pints of Blood), and "You've Got Style!" (Unlock All Alternate Costumes), just to name a few.
So who's ready for this bad boy? MK has never looked better and provided the gameplay is sound, we can't imagine a poor product.

If for some reason Raiden isn't playable then That's a huge let down. He's been a staple of the series!

I'm pretty impressed by some of these iPhone games, btw.
Infinity Blade can be pretty incredible. I can't believe it's a phone game.
I also have to give big props to Real Racing 2. It's quite awesome, too. Only after you learn to turn off the default "auto-accelerate"

When you have a game where the only selling point is the violence how can the gameplay be sound? Take away the violence and all you have is an empty game devoided of the need for skill but in the end is nothing but a button mashing fest.

I don't need to play the demo to know what the game system haven't really changed.
"Button mashing has never worked in MK and it will get you nowhere in the reboot as well."
I know of many people who play fighting games on a high-level(e.g. competitive players like myself) who would disagree with you.

Some games, like Tekken, can have button mashers be fairly successful against relatively mediocre players, but not against experienced players and beyond.
Also, Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios have been working hard to make this MK game balanced. It is getting Evo representation; that's a good sign.
Also, depth hasn't really been MK's issue; instead, it's been balance issues.

Imports are likely to be seized over the coming months, so might have to either wait it out and import when it's no longer a big issue, or wait for an R18+ rating to finally hit Australia.
The Attorney General meeting in June cannot come soon enough. Fortunately, the Federal government has sworn to take over the case should the AGs not come to an agreement. From what I'm aware, about 6 out of the 8 states in Australia support an R18+ rating in video games, 1 state AG is unsure and the other is against it.
I'm hoping the Victorian AG is talked into it, allowing for a full agreement to implement R18+, draw up rules and regulations for it, followed by finally putting it in place by the end of this year or early next year.
Should Mortal Kombat still be in print next year, hopefully we Aussies will see it on our store shelves then.
Again, it sucks being a hardcore gamer in Australia, the land of sport and booze.
