Aussie Board Confirms Burnout Crash?
After pumping out Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, maybe it's time for Criterion Games to return to the esteemed Burnout franchise.
And if the Australian Classification Board can be relied upon, the developer is indeed cranking on a new entry. The board reveals EA seems to be preparing a game called "Burnout Crash," a new multiplatform racer that should carry on the name of the well-reviewed, high-octane series. The filing offers no extra details, but it wouldn't be surprising at all to see Criterion back in the Burnout saddle. The most recent installment, Burnout Paradise, remains one of the more popular titles of the generation, and don't forget that you can nab it off the PlayStation Store. We should also mention that Criterion may be the king of downloadable content, as Paradise received more DLC than most gamers knew what to do with. That's a good thing, though.
And besides, Hot Pursuit proved they still have what it takes to produce a polished, entertaining game. Can't wait to hear about the next Burnout.

I enjoyed Burnout Paradise, but I much preferred Burnout Revenge's formula. The different modes, split screen multiplayer, 4 player Crash mode and fighting for that high score (largest amount of costly damage).
Paradise was one step forward and two steps back in my opinion. It still had Time Attacks, races, Road Rage, but Crash mode was replaced with Showtime, and it just didn't seem as much fun to me. Sure, there was now an open world to drive round in, but I preferred Revenge's and Burnout 3's stage based formula. Not EVRYTHING has to be open world, you know!
If Crash brings back the old formula of B3 and Revenge with HD graphics and awesome over the top crashes, I will definitely be placing this on my wishlist.

I sure hope Crash will be just as good if not better. I will definitely buy it then.

And I must say that I'm liking it. I enjoyed Paradise more than the PSP versions, but that isn't to say that I'd be averse to a new Burnout game with that style. For some reason though, I kind of get the feeling that maybe it'll be a downloadable game, rather than a full retail release. It seems plausible given that the first we're hearing about it is from a ratings board.
Peace.
