Mortal Kombat Strikes Gold
Even the most faithful are a little antsy until a game reaches Gold status; the "no turning back" plateau that says, "yep, it's definitely coming."
Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios have announced that Mortal Kombat has officially gone gold for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It will launch on April 19 in North America and April 21 in the UK; feel free to check our news archives for all relevant information. This reboot marks a "triumphant return to the series' mature presentation and a reinvention of its classic 2D fighting mechanic." Featuring an all-new graphics engine, the Fatality and character-specific stages have returned, along with new features like tag team, a deep Story mode, and stereoscopic 3D (exclusive to the PS3). Then there's the Challenge Tower, which is 300 steps long and will tax your abilities to the limit! MK fans have been waiting for such a game; it pays homage to the good ol' days while being a definite upgrade at the same time.
Come on; April isn't exactly jammed with games...this one should be near the top of your priority list.

I liked the slight RPG feel that the game had with SC3, your character creator and leveling system combined with the individual adventure element of the Chronicles Of The Sword was extremely playable and far, far more satisfying that the annoying tower of Souls. I got within about 6 floors of the top and can get no further thanks to the incredibly cheap AI.
Both have their plus and minus points. SC4 shines graphically and by offering online play. SC3 did everything right in terms of the solo experience. Combining the two would produce a near perfect SC game.
5 thumbs down for saying not my cup of tea, but each to their own? Wow. Odd trends around here right now.

MK I find to be one of my favorite fighting games when done right, but fighting games are near the bottom of my list of games to purchase. Right above music games and fps.
However I know how the MK fans feel, I hear people say they don't like White Knight and I wanna smack em. =)

And while I can play GoW and MK with all of their blood and gore just fine, I can get pretty grossed out by some animal meats sold in stores. The other night my wife asked me to pick up a pork shoulder from Walmart. While I was in the meat section I saw some pretty disgusting looking meat stuff that nearly made me want to puke. Anyway, what I'm saying is that video game gore and real life gore has a completely different effect on me.

As and interesting aside I noticed the only billboard that begins the list of platforms on the bottom with "PS3" is the Portal 2 one, weird huh?
