Sonic Turns 20 Soon, Sega Teases "Something Big"
There was a time when this news would've been some of the biggest of the year. ...my, how the mighty have fallen.
But we always have this tiny spark of hope that Sonic the Hedgehog will once again become part of an elite game. Maybe they'll do something special when the fleet-footed icon turns 20 this summer:
Sega has revealed that "there's something big coming this week to the Sonic Facebook page," and the company will begin celebrating on "Thurs 7th April." Okay, that's tomorrow...if there is an announcement, will it have anything to do with the mysterious Sonic Generations websites? Superannuation found 'em earlier this week and we'd love to know what they're all about. And these days, Sonic isn't really in dire need of resuscitation; he's been doing better this generation, with a few nods to the past and better mechanics. It's still a far cry from the Genesis but then again, everything now is a "far cry" from that period.
We're hoping that whatever Sega wishes to unveil will also cater to those outside the Nintendo universe. Sonic on Nintendo...man oh man, that triggers some arguments back in the day about which was better, the Genesis or the SNES. "Yeah, well Sega has Sonic!" ...things have changed.

I loved Sonic games at one time, but now it would have to be a lot different for me. Side scrolling doesn't hold me for more than a couple of minutes anymore.

I used to love Sonic. Back in the days of the Master System. Maybe they'll announce the rest of Sonic 4. Sega are doing fairly well lately, and I do like their games, so I'm hoping that whatever this is is worth both their name, and Sonic's. To think... the blue blur is as old as me. Wow, I feel... young.
Peace.

With the great reception Sonic Colors has received, Sega only needs to continue the magic it delivered within this title and expand it to HD. Simple as that.

The Wii is a great console, but I still feel like the truly hardcore games just don't/can't sell in the West.
I bet it sold well in Japan. But for hardcore games to actually catch on in the West they have to come out on the current-gen consoles.
I feel bad for Donkey Kong Country Returns because it could have sold so well if Nintendo's console wasn't outdated (catered to casuals).
I'll try to get Sonic colors as soon as I can though. Thanks for pointing it out.

Sonic 4 Ep. 2 might be an announcement. And that deserves hype. Sonic has been good again lately.
Happy birthday, childhood maker.
