White Knight Chronicles 2 Makes The US Summer Better

Okay, we don't have an exact release date, but it's good news nonetheless.

Role-playing fans will be happy to know that D3Publisher has announced they will bring White Knight Chronicles 2 to the U.S. this summer. Available exclusively on the PlayStation 3, this follow-up effort to the original title "seamlessly blends the interactive multiplayer co-op experience with the cinematic storytelling of a single-player RPG." Developed by the talented Level-5 team, WKC2 will offer over 400 weapon and armor choices, new fan-requested features, and what is known as the Incorruptus: a unique knight for your own avatar. This can be used for online multiplayer quests and the Incorruptus customization system has also been upgraded. Perhaps best of all - especially for those who missed the first title - this sequel will include a "complete and remastered version of White Knight Chronicles: International Edition," which means this $60 package easily offers over 100 hours of gameplay.

Stay tuned for more but in the meantime, just revel in the fact that yes, White Knight Chronicles 2 is indeed coming to a store near you.

ROTFLMAO!

I have invested a bit over 300 hours into finishing the first twice, rebirthing the full 4 times and finally guild ranking up to level 8 (all solo).

I can't even begin to contemplate platinuming this monster. Hopefully WKC2 won't require a significant chunk of my actual life to platinum it...

I figured it was the story NPCs, that's great, I have a better 'connection' to them than any random NPC anyway.

If it takes just as long to platinum this game, that will simply be another game I'll play to death and never get close to platinuming.

I hope they made the SP mode better, longer, and perhaps some kind of replay value, but even more important, I hope they make MP FUN this time around, might get some people to stick around this time.

ist not longer is teh same length of the first one... but since ist teh second part of teh same game if you but both games together then you have the normal length 40-50 hours SP rpg experience

Phoenix, not sure what you mean. The multiplayer is extremely addictive and fun. It gets tedious later on since you start to not get enough Guild Rank points and just repeating the same quests 200 times. But normally and for a long time it's extremely fun.

Story mode is good for me. It takes a while to really get good, but when it does you really start to care about the characters and world (lore) around them.

I don't mind if part 2's playthrough time is the same as the 1st. The 1st felt fulfilling and well told. I expect the same.

Wow Highlander, if that's true that's gonna be sweet! Sometimes you see some really cool looking npcs and you wish you could recruit them. If it's true that you can get them in your party for quests this game will be perfect... Choices are always great.

I'm sorry, did we play the same game? WKC MP was just a huge grindfest, you had to grind for ingredients, money, and for gp... my god did u have to grind to hell and back for that, not to mention that this grindfest took place on the same quests over and over and over.... ugh. But dont get me wrong, WKC MP was fun with friends, I just want something FUN to do other then grinding GP, perhaps some 4v4 pvp or something, maybe have spectators to bet money on the winning team, I dunno, just need more to MP then grinding.

I agree with both of you here. WKC is far too much of a grind. I decided I wanted to ribirth the full 4 times to max out my abilities and level back up to 50 ready for the new game. Getting Guild Rank 8 was needed for the GR8 equipment. the next significant 'jump' requires 3 more guild ranks, and after the grinding I put in to get where I am now, it's just not happening.

One of the things that is included in the new game is that for multi-player quests, you don't have to party up with a bunch of strangers, you can drag a gaggle of AI driven NPCs with you, although I don't have much detail on that, it sound like it's exactly what the doctor ordered. I mean in the original game you can solo all the GR6 and below quests without any hassle, at GR7 there is a massive leap in difficulty with the larger critters, which makes it darned near impossible to solo. So if you are late to the party and there's no one else to team up with, or you just prefer a solo game, you are completely out of luck past GR6/7 quests. That makes what is a bit of a grind even more of a chose since you basically spam the same two or three quests dozens of times to rank/level up.

If they fix nothing else, fixing that is a major win.

it is a grind but you said the key word "playing with friends" if your entire group has mics and your all goofing around and talking while you play time goes by fast and it feels more liek fun than a chore..... which is why i can platinum wkc1 but not come close to every trying star ocean 4 (which requires the exact same amount of time invested) why? because SO4 is a single player grindfest in which i could never torture myself with 500+ hours of that kindda boredom... if WKC was single player as well then yeah i wouldnt have tried at all lol

I'd have to agree, playing with friends with mics was a blast, really didnt mind the grinding too much, but it was still a problem, as I started to see less and less of my friends playing, to the point where I was playing with pugs...which was ok for a while but after rebirthing several times, hitting GR11, I just couldnt do it anymore, the game really just lost any kind of fun factor for me sadly.

This is why I hope they put some FUN events/quests in to lift the dark vale of boredem that will no doubt drop upon this game should they choose to not add anything of the sort. Dont think it will happen? it did with WKC1, maybe not everyone's friends left, but you cant deny that as the weeks rolled by after launch, the online community was dying rather quickly.

Edit: I am looking forward to this game, but I'm going to wait and see how they improved multiplayer first.

How they improved multiplayer? I can answer that.. they have seasonal events now, the weather changes.. you can use your knights online now, your avatar gets his own knight and its customizable just like he/she is.. parties are 6 man instead of 4 now (unless you do the old wkc1 quest then theyre 4 man still) you have a sprint button so you can run around faster, theres new storyline quests where your avatar is the main character and theres an official guild system where you can make your own guild and earn points to which your guild will get certain perks/benefits...

new skills and abilties added and some taken out (which is why you get sent back to level 35 and have all your SP given back to you so you can redistribute them, the max level is 80 now and the max GR is 30... also getting to GR15 is a joke in WKC2.. you can literally get there from GR1 just by doin all the sidequests on the way to beating WKC2 singe player.is that enough or do you want me to keep going? :p

I knew about this for awhile.

Since hearing of it, it's made me question Europes release in May. We got a date, but that was given to us via a comment in the comments section by someone who was in a marketing position, but no publishing details were given and surely that would of made the press release. And since then, no more details....well, i did hear trailers and other media are incoming, but May is so close now. Is Sony only publishing it in Europe? Or is D3 doing it all? In the latters case, Europe should get it same time as America....hmm.

PSX ran a story on the May date before, but it was never confirmed at the time who would be handling the publishing, nor was it confirmed that the May date was definite.

Still, one wonders about the PSp version as well. If that comes out in Europe aligned with WKC2 and both ship in May, perhaps I will have to import. I need to go back and look at D3 and see whether they are handling the PSP version as well.

Yeah, i commented in it.

I'm hearing SCEE are doing WKC in Europe with Dogma Wars still, among the community.

Last official comment on the Europe release was on March 11th by James Gallagher (Europe PSblog) that said "This is the place to get official news. The ‘May’ that is quoted is still on course.".

Pegi (Europe equivalent of ESRB) hasn't got WKC 2 listed yet and they usually have product reviews up 2-3 months in advance.

It seems like a muddle at the moment. I wouldn't mind if it was anything else, but this is WKC!

F it, if it comes out in May in Europe I'm importing. I've waited too long for this game.

D3 doesn't seem as committed as SCEE so I'll reward SCEE for their efforts if they indeed get it to us earlier.

I still can't believe SCEA isn't handling this in the US...

Friggin sweet ! Thank you sweet baby jesus !

Every time I read or hear about this game I get effin stoked. I'm glad we have some kind of time window for this game now. Although last I read, I think here as a matter of fact, I thought someone involved with wkc2 said something about this game possibly releasing in may.

Or is may part of summer? I never really paid attention to when the different seasons start, I always just tell by how things look. Pretty ignorant on my part I know. But I'm just stoked that we are finally gonna be getting this game.

Looks like I've got some saving up to do so this can be a d1p for me. And on the plus side ill be able to completely focus 100% on the single player story as apposed to the multi player (which no doubt will also be amazing ) because I unfortunatley don't have internet yet... but ill be able to play through 1 and 2 without worrying about questing so much.

I guess that's a 50/50 good/bad thing.

Summer starts in June so let's hope it's sometime in June and not close to August

Having no Internet could be good, you can fully enjoy the story and gather items/armor without worry and then go in packed with good stuff when you get your Internet back.

Top 3:
-WKC2
-Dark Souls
-Uncharted 3

No particular order.

But goddamn I would be lying if I didn't admit the fact that I'm actually more excited about this game than the other two. I loved the 1st one to death. Part 2 will be perfect, this alone is enough to make me spend 200+ hours on it

"WKC2 will offer over 400 weapon and armor choices, new fan-requested features, and what is known as the Incorruptus: a unique knight for your own avatar. This can be used for online multiplayer quests and the Incorruptus customization system has also been upgraded."

My own incorruptus, 400 weapons..., and lots of quests? Oh and now you can venture out in adventure with 6 players? This game is perfect in my book.

But why Summer? Wasn't it supposed to be May? If the Europeans get it in May I will have to import it. Only reason I haven't imported the Japanese version was because psxe reported the "May release date" when I was about to import it...

And why is D3 publishing this and not Sony? wtf? First they let Demon's Souls get away, now WKC2? Something's wrong...

I almost dropped my laptop as the explosion of joy nearly made me jump out of my chair and scream, "Hooray" at the top of my lungs.

I'm calmer now, whew, excited as all get out though. WKC is my favorite ps3 game, waited for 2 years for it to come out and it did not disappoint.

This is easily for me the best news of the year. I'll put several more hours into WKC before WKC2 releases and when it does, I'll load my final save game and start WKC and play through with the new mechanics and then dive into WKC2. I can't wait.

YAY! A date. Kind of. I still hope the Euro date is set for May... I can't load the Sony site to check. Actually, I don't think I'll end up picking this up before I go. I'm torn between picking up Yakuza 4 tomorrow, or waiting for SOCOM 4 week after next. Not sure if I want to get Y4... My backlog is annoying enough, but I certainly don't want to miss SOCOM.

Damnit, I hijacked a WKC thread. I SHALL get this game. Just not sure when.

Xenosaga 4?

*sigh* Unfortunately, I don't believe that will ever happen. We're more likely to get a remastered version of Episodes 1-3, and the likelihood of that is <1%. Xenosaga 3 pretty much filled in the entire story as originally planned, they condensed everything from the planned 6 games, that wasn't in episodes 1 & 2, and crammed it into episode 3.

Yeah, unfortunately. Just wish the concept could continue in some way even if it was another saga based on someone else's story from the games. I still think that the scenerio scripts for xenosaga and xenogears alike are just too good to just put to sleep.

well for those of you wondering about the grind this time "yeah I would think so, if you are starting at GR 15. I just got to GR 23 and the points needed were only 6 million. Quests at this level are running 120,000-182,000 depending upon what you run. DiP 2 is the grind quest and that gives 149,000-150,000 per run, taking 10 minutes a run. GR 24 is 7 million. In WKC 1 the highest point total you could get was from Research Assistant 3 and nobody ran that for points. Mostly you ran either Big Red III or Station II and Station got you around what, 54,000? "

supposedly if you play regulalry you can get highest rank and even platinum in a month on wkc2... boo that sucks lol
