White Knight Chronicles 2 Makes The US Summer Better
Okay, we don't have an exact release date, but it's good news nonetheless.
Role-playing fans will be happy to know that D3Publisher has announced they will bring White Knight Chronicles 2 to the U.S. this summer. Available exclusively on the PlayStation 3, this follow-up effort to the original title "seamlessly blends the interactive multiplayer co-op experience with the cinematic storytelling of a single-player RPG." Developed by the talented Level-5 team, WKC2 will offer over 400 weapon and armor choices, new fan-requested features, and what is known as the Incorruptus: a unique knight for your own avatar. This can be used for online multiplayer quests and the Incorruptus customization system has also been upgraded. Perhaps best of all - especially for those who missed the first title - this sequel will include a "complete and remastered version of White Knight Chronicles: International Edition," which means this $60 package easily offers over 100 hours of gameplay.
Stay tuned for more but in the meantime, just revel in the fact that yes, White Knight Chronicles 2 is indeed coming to a store near you.

I have invested a bit over 300 hours into finishing the first twice, rebirthing the full 4 times and finally guild ranking up to level 8 (all solo).
I can't even begin to contemplate platinuming this monster. Hopefully WKC2 won't require a significant chunk of my actual life to platinum it...

Story mode is good for me. It takes a while to really get good, but when it does you really start to care about the characters and world (lore) around them.
I don't mind if part 2's playthrough time is the same as the 1st. The 1st felt fulfilling and well told. I expect the same.

One of the things that is included in the new game is that for multi-player quests, you don't have to party up with a bunch of strangers, you can drag a gaggle of AI driven NPCs with you, although I don't have much detail on that, it sound like it's exactly what the doctor ordered. I mean in the original game you can solo all the GR6 and below quests without any hassle, at GR7 there is a massive leap in difficulty with the larger critters, which makes it darned near impossible to solo. So if you are late to the party and there's no one else to team up with, or you just prefer a solo game, you are completely out of luck past GR6/7 quests. That makes what is a bit of a grind even more of a chose since you basically spam the same two or three quests dozens of times to rank/level up.
If they fix nothing else, fixing that is a major win.

This is why I hope they put some FUN events/quests in to lift the dark vale of boredem that will no doubt drop upon this game should they choose to not add anything of the sort. Dont think it will happen? it did with WKC1, maybe not everyone's friends left, but you cant deny that as the weeks rolled by after launch, the online community was dying rather quickly.
Edit: I am looking forward to this game, but I'm going to wait and see how they improved multiplayer first.

new skills and abilties added and some taken out (which is why you get sent back to level 35 and have all your SP given back to you so you can redistribute them, the max level is 80 now and the max GR is 30... also getting to GR15 is a joke in WKC2.. you can literally get there from GR1 just by doin all the sidequests on the way to beating WKC2 singe player.is that enough or do you want me to keep going? :p

Since hearing of it, it's made me question Europes release in May. We got a date, but that was given to us via a comment in the comments section by someone who was in a marketing position, but no publishing details were given and surely that would of made the press release. And since then, no more details....well, i did hear trailers and other media are incoming, but May is so close now. Is Sony only publishing it in Europe? Or is D3 doing it all? In the latters case, Europe should get it same time as America....hmm.

Still, one wonders about the PSp version as well. If that comes out in Europe aligned with WKC2 and both ship in May, perhaps I will have to import. I need to go back and look at D3 and see whether they are handling the PSP version as well.

I'm hearing SCEE are doing WKC in Europe with Dogma Wars still, among the community.
Last official comment on the Europe release was on March 11th by James Gallagher (Europe PSblog) that said "This is the place to get official news. The ‘May’ that is quoted is still on course.".
Pegi (Europe equivalent of ESRB) hasn't got WKC 2 listed yet and they usually have product reviews up 2-3 months in advance.
It seems like a muddle at the moment. I wouldn't mind if it was anything else, but this is WKC!

Every time I read or hear about this game I get effin stoked. I'm glad we have some kind of time window for this game now. Although last I read, I think here as a matter of fact, I thought someone involved with wkc2 said something about this game possibly releasing in may.
Or is may part of summer? I never really paid attention to when the different seasons start, I always just tell by how things look. Pretty ignorant on my part I know. But I'm just stoked that we are finally gonna be getting this game.
Looks like I've got some saving up to do so this can be a d1p for me. And on the plus side ill be able to completely focus 100% on the single player story as apposed to the multi player (which no doubt will also be amazing ) because I unfortunatley don't have internet yet... but ill be able to play through 1 and 2 without worrying about questing so much.
I guess that's a 50/50 good/bad thing.

-WKC2
-Dark Souls
-Uncharted 3
No particular order.
But goddamn I would be lying if I didn't admit the fact that I'm actually more excited about this game than the other two. I loved the 1st one to death. Part 2 will be perfect, this alone is enough to make me spend 200+ hours on it

My own incorruptus, 400 weapons..., and lots of quests? Oh and now you can venture out in adventure with 6 players? This game is perfect in my book.
But why Summer? Wasn't it supposed to be May? If the Europeans get it in May I will have to import it. Only reason I haven't imported the Japanese version was because psxe reported the "May release date" when I was about to import it...
And why is D3 publishing this and not Sony? wtf? First they let Demon's Souls get away, now WKC2? Something's wrong...

I'm calmer now, whew, excited as all get out though. WKC is my favorite ps3 game, waited for 2 years for it to come out and it did not disappoint.
This is easily for me the best news of the year. I'll put several more hours into WKC before WKC2 releases and when it does, I'll load my final save game and start WKC and play through with the new mechanics and then dive into WKC2. I can't wait.

*sigh* Unfortunately, I don't believe that will ever happen. We're more likely to get a remastered version of Episodes 1-3, and the likelihood of that is <1%. Xenosaga 3 pretty much filled in the entire story as originally planned, they condensed everything from the planned 6 games, that wasn't in episodes 1 & 2, and crammed it into episode 3.
