KZ3 Steel Rain DLC Set For April 12

If you need an excuse to keep playing Killzone 3 online, that excuse will be ready next week.

The previously announced downloadable pack, Steel Rain, will be available on the PSN on April 12. You can check out a couple preview videos over at the PlayStation Blog; the new pack includes two new multiplayer maps (inspired by locations from the single-player campaign). We'll get Junkyard for Guerrilla Warfare and Stahl Arms, a "uniquely styled Warzone map." You can engage in the all-new multiplayer fun for only $4.99 and if you need more incentive to become a PlayStation Plus member, remember that Plus subscribers get this for free. In looking at the cost of a membership, it seems that most people will make that investment worthwhile within only a month or two. As for KZ3 online, we're big fans, even if we still say Guerrilla Games should've kept more of the weight from KZ2. Are we the only ones...?

Oh, but Plus members: Steel Rain will only be free through May 10, so make sure you take advantage soon.

I checked out the 2 trailers on their site, and they were looking awesome.

Just wish I could hit the lotto for $500 so I could get back to my PS3 gaming & buy a new Plus subscription.

erm... you sure its not out for you guys yet? we got it in the UK and EU Weds just gone.

its pretty good, the nice thing about it is that theres plenty of jetpacks for everyone... but so far everyone is using them... and because they come with a machine gun attached if you dont have a jet pack, youre just fodder.

mech suits are very very cool, as always!

Plus Membership has actually proven to be worth the money. I have all of these games that I keep on meaning to play, but Sony keeps on dropping these great exclusives!
Smart move to give PS+ members all of the map packs for free.

I miss my custom music too! AAAARRRGH now I only have LBP to play music on....in my pod or when creating a stage.....thats better than nothing....guess PS3 cant do EVERYTHING....but damn near close

Yeah, so that means everytime I click random matchmaking for Warzone...it will take me directly to Stahl Arms if I download this. I deleted the Retro pack for a reason...damn game kept taking me to Salumen Market everytime and you don't even get a chance to change the map at the end of the game. Pretty sure I won't be buying this for that sole purpose. Even though I want a new map, I don't care to buy a $20 PSN to get this. Why wasn't this included with the game...the disc is big enough right?

Ummm..I thought that was issue for me as well in regards to going back to the Market repeatedly..It's not the DLC you have to set your match preferences before you start and that fixes that issue.

Trust me man..PS Plus is worth the money..

The extra maps for Killzone 2 were quite good. They had a lot of different environmental effects that changed the way you had to play.

That said, I expect the maps for Killzone 3 to be just as high quality. I believe strongly that they will be even better. More maps is always a good thing in my opinion. I already paid for PS+ and I'm grateful that I can keep "updated" on Killzone 3 multiplayer without spending more money on maps.

This is the kind of incentive structure that will do Sony as great deal of good. Not enough people buy the DLC anyways, so why not package it all together as a perk of the monthly PS+ subscription? At least that way, the community is united. Over the long term, it could help long term sales of Sony exclusives, but also PS+ Memberships. I have no intention of keeping my Xbox Live Gold subscription after it expires, but I DO intend on extending my PS+ subscription.

I actually like the Vetka Cruiser and the map with the bolt gun (the name slips my mind for the moment.) i have high hope for the new maps, expect nothing less than greatness from GG.

I've never bought maps for a shooter. How does the matchmaking work?

Will I be put into a lobby where everyone has DLC, or do the people who don't have it simply get dropped when a DLC map is voted?

5$ isn't bad at all. I still haven't gotten into the multi player on KZ3 yet. So if I can get these two new maps somewhat soon I'll be even with everyone else online, in terms of map layout anyway.
Steel rain seems like a very appropriate title considering how steel like the graphics are.

I don't know if it's just me but I feel that KZ2 maps were better for MP. Too many games to stay stuck on KZ3 MP but with this new map pack, I'll be back asap

Anybody here played/playing the game with the Move? Wondering how everyone else likes the melee finally being mapped to the controller itself.

For me: WAY easier to melee someone RIGHT there. IMHO I think that was the biggest disadvantage to using the Move (Minus the sharp shooter, they are all SOLD OUT in my area ranging from Gamestop, Best Buy, Wal-mart, Target, to Nebraska Furniture Mart)

Maybe its me, but even to this day I dont use the "auto tracking" feature with the Move. Didnt even know you could "lock on" until I heard someone b*tchin about it. At least they limited the lock time to 1 sec now, but IMO that shouldn't even be allowed online.
