Twisted Metal Trailer Reveals October Release Date

We haven't heard much about Twisted Metal in 2011 and while the game isn't exactly grabbing headlines, there is one new development:

A release date. Oddly enough, the date wasn't included in a normal official press release; no, it's found at the end of a bad-ass new trailer. After watching the video below and becoming super-crazy psyched for the return of the ultimate Twisted franchise, you'll notice "10/4/11." ...yeah, October and November are already stacking up.

It's likely that a boatload of games will come out in October so it'll be interesting to see the competition for Twisted Metal. We know Batman: Arkham City arrives on October 18, but that's a decent gap, and some of the heavy hitters don't drop until November. So maybe it's a perfect time.

And by the way, in terms of PlayStation 3 exclusives, we're liking the separation: Resistance 3 on September 6, Twisted Metal on October 4, and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception on November 1. Now we just need Final Fantasy Versus XIII in the first week of December. ...'cough'

I was waiting for you to post this, Ben. Very excited for it. TM 2 and TM:Black were the 2 best car combat games out there. Reliving this and Socom this month bring me back to all the hours I spent playing their predessors on my PS1 and PS2.

My sentiments exactly! Twisted Metal 2 and Black are absolutely the BEST! So many good games coming out this year. Damn it feels good to be a gamer *Office Space reference*

This is gonna be one of those games like MK and Socom 4 (also dropping soon) that take me back. I'm really excited for this game. TM was always one of my favorite franchises.

Methinks its got online splitscreen action with separate PSN ID sign in just like resistance 2!!!!! :)

Not being a rpg fan i'd personally like to see the ico collection drop in december instead of FFV13

I'd prefer to see the ICO Collection drop sooner, personally.

Insanity is on the menu!
This ****'s gonna be crazy. Car combat games are PERFECT for online play. I can already see guilds forming for this thing.

Damn, that trailer really shows how insane and fun this game will be. Blowing stuff up, running off of buildings and launching missiles at everything.

October is perfect for this twisted game

I'm liking the spacing in-between each PS3 exclusive title, too. With that being said, I'd MUCH rather see The Last Guardian arrive in the first week of December over Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a title that'll most likely just continue the trend of disappointing all the life-long FF fans out there.

Well, I have to say that I am not overly thrilled with the ammount of push this game is getting. Twisted Metal is the reason I started down the PS path. I am wondering why, with the history of this game, and with David back at the lead, this isn't being blown up like Ho-Tep. I am definately buying this game, but my purchase is going to be based on the fact that I am an old fart that was gaming back when the fitst one hit. I don't see the push to bring in the new gamers, and that is what is going to be needed if we don't want to wait 10 years between sequels.

I read David Jaffe's blog as much as possible. He seems like a really smart dude. Anyways, I don't think he's blowing up the game because he really doesn't have to. Plus he doesn't seem like that type of guy at all. He strikes me as a modest type of fellow and not one to hype the crap out of his own work. Since the game is dropping in October, there is still plenty of time to market the game. That being said, what he says about the game gets me super hyped for it!!! It's going to be great, i'm sure of it.

There seems to be something a little wrong with your statement. You claim to read Jaffe's blog frequently, and then go on to say that you find him to be a "modest fellow". Well dear sir, if David is a modest fellow then Charlie Sheen must be a "swell dad".

That was one decidedly bad-ass trailer. And now we have a date to go along with it. Although it's a shame you weren't allowed an exclusive release date announcement, given that you kept the secret for so long...

Yet another game that I simply can't wait to take for a spin.
Peace.

@ whothedoc- And... Why don't you read his blog instead of making stupid remarks. Tell me what you get from what he says. You can be modest and have a blog. It's not Sacreligious or an oxymoron. If you did read his blog then you'd see that he usually only posts about updates to his game, a couple of other subjects do come out every once in a while. You'd also see that he's intelligent and quite a deep thinker. Your comparison to Charlie Sheen is just horrible. What are you, a mod at Ebaums. LOL. Grow Up! And to say since he has a blog, he isn't modest is pretty stupid. It's the age of the internet!!!! Everyone has a blog. My F'ing Grandpa has a blog!!!

Hey dude, lighten up. I wasn't coming at you. For your information, I used to shortcut his blog on a regular basis. I eventually quit visiting because the vulgur language was way above my threashold. I wasn't saying that his blog wasn't good or infomative, I was just saying that his dilivery method wouldn't be described as "modest". The ammount of F bombs and vain references to God were not to my liking, that is all I was saying. The main reason I hit PSX first for all of my PlayStation goodies is because this website doesn't allow people to go off on obsenity filled comments. There is definately something to be said for choosing your words carefully. I love what Jaffe does for the video game community, I just don't always like his way of saying it.

FFVsXIII is coming out in 2012 as predicted two years ago by me. Having it come in December wouldn't exactly be a cherry on top of that Sony exclusives cake we're getting anyway so what's the rush?
