Mass Effect 3: More RPG Elements, No Multiplayer
As some of you already know, the new Game Informer sports a wealth of information for one of the year's most anticipated RPGs: Mass Effect 3.
The game landed on GI's cover for the current month and although we won't post all the details, we couldn't help but gather up a few highlights. Firstly, it seems we can expect more RPG elements and mechanics this time, with more complex skill trees and a longer evolution of powers. Weapon modifications will be increased and all weapons can be used by all classes, even though certain missions will restrict the number of weapons that can be utilized. As for story, we don't want to spoil anything, but here's the basic gist- after the Arrival DLC, Shepard is on Earth, so that's likely where he'll start. Liara and Garrus will be playable characters and we've heard both Wrex and Mordin will show up at some point, too. The last little tidbit is that BioWare has no plans to include a multiplayer option. ...good.
Along with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and several other big RPGs this year, fans of the genre should be quite satisfied, yes?

Considering Dragon age has apparently gone this same route as well with the sequel I'm not to optimistic...

I have played thru ME2 several times and continue to play it as totally different versions of Shepard. I have never been inclined to play a game over and over before this one with the exception of Assassins Creed.

For instance for the battle system they should have the solid action features of ME2 combined with the tactical requirements in battle from ME1. They should also make less cover objects as the amount of conviniently placed barricades in ME2 made the gameplay too habitual to taking cover all the damn time. Though perhaps they found it necessary; I did die alot in ME1.
They should include the findings of space treasures / elements and exploration of the MAKO in uncharted planets including it's beatiful planetary preview designs in ME1 combined with the planet probing of ME2, which then the research of probing would go towards ME2's upgrade system COMBINED with the finding of new gear and weapons of ME1.
The limitness in weaponry sounds good - it must mean there will be less limits on individual biotic / tech / soilder abilities. Mass Effect 1 had less characters, but each character had a much bigger set of skills - evens out I guess. ME3 should basically have the same amount of characters in ME2, with a imaginative shedload of new diferrent bracnhes of abilities, so you'll get a variety and complex set of different skills to decide on, mix n' mash.
One thing, ONE thing they must do is quit with the loading screens in ME2: it makes every level in the game feel so disconnected. In Mass Effect 1 they practically joined everything they could, especially in the Normandy & the Citadel. For instance the Citadel area & it's features [other than the shops, the shops rule] in ME2 sucked balls compared to ME1. In ME1 those elevator rides may have been long, but it actually did the trick in making the entire section feel like it was connected. That helped the result in the feeling of limitless and broad exploration within the Presidium and Wards. Plus some funny conversations would occur during those rides.
Finally the story should be fascinating as ME1 and keep up the character depth and development of ME2. AND PLAY FAUNTS - M4 PT.II AT THE ENDING CREDITS.

Basically all of the above and improve on it by tenfold. That should just about be possibly teh best game ever made. We have a new composer for this game but he's pretty trusted to deliver so we'll see what atmosphere he can bring to the table.
My 2 cents.
