Captivate 11: Capcom's New IP Is Dragon's Dogma
Hey, you know something? Dragons are cool.
We had heard Capcom would announce a new IP at their Captivate event today, and so they have: it's Dragon's Dogma, which is described as a "unique action experience that blends exciting and fulfilling combat with the freedom to explore and interact in a rich, living and breathing world." Well, that sounds pretty good; almost like a cross between Demon's Souls, The Elder Scrolls, and Devil May Cry. In fact, you may find both DMC and Resident Evil influences in the trailer below, because producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi and director Hideaki Itsuno were directly involved with several DMC and RE iterations.
The game is built with an upgraded version of Capcom's MT Framework engine (used in both RE5 and Lost Planet 2) and it looks awfully promising. Dragon's Dogma is coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and currently has a tentative release window of "early 2012. So, what do you think?

Oh and the whole FPS gamers have ruined the current gen of gaming is crap. I've said it before, if its not one genre it's another. There used to be racing/kart games coming out every week. Before that it was platformers. FPS games/gamers haven't ruined anything. I'm sure if you ask anyone on here, they'll say they have plenty to play still. Most have a huge back log of things to play!!! Most of them not shooters. Also, a lot of people don't have enough money for all the games they want. Most of them not shooters.

What's inferior, is stating something as mal-researched and subjective about FPS crowd ruining this gen. FPS's aren't my first choice. Mine is RPG's. But I like all kinds of genres.
But the DJ's right... whatever is popular at the time is what saturates the market. And of course, the people who don't favor that type of genre will complain. Aside from that, there is still lots and lots of variety to keep non-FPS fans happy. I play them too, but it is my least favorite. (Although there isn't a genre I despise, nor is there one I won't play)
Anyways, if you remember PS1 days, shooters existed, but RPG's were king. Each genre will have their day.

However, I really do like Killzone 2.

Most video games that revolve around this sort of fantastical, mythological atmosphere are more influenced by Dungeons & Dragons than Lord of the Rings, even visually. Especially visually.
I'd daresay that even the Peter Jackson films were heavily influenced by D&D. A lot of art has been done for that particular RPG over the past four decades that has pretty much formed the way a lot of people -- especially games developers -- view fantasy and fantastical things. D&D and Frank Frazetta.
...that's the long winded way of me saying that this game reminds me of D&D...

I also really like the physics based direction they are going, climbing on a griffons tale and getting picked up by a harpy is just awesome. Hopefully this is a game mechanic throughout the whole game and not just for a couple special enemies. I want to be able to climb anything that is above 10 feet tall :)
As for the Vidius person saying this looks like a wii game...get your eyes checked? This looks like an original game I don't see how your bashing it all of your points contradict each other. You like killzone 2 which is a good shooter but honestly basically the same as any other console shooter(I've been playing shooters since they were conceived). Then you say the FPS crowd ruined games but right after tell capcom to scrap a game that is not only the furthest thing from an FPS but tell them to make RE6 which even if it is like RE4 is closer to a shooter than a game where you slay hydra and climb up freaking griffins backs and hack its neck with your sword.
This is right now on the top of my most anticipated list for 2012 right beside Kingdoms of Alumar: The reckoning which RPG fans should check out btw

Dragon's Dogma
