Shadows Of The Damned Pushed Back A Couple Weeks

Well, it's probably better not to directly challenge inFamous 2, even if the latter is only an exclusive title.

Grasshopper Manufacture's Shadows of the Damned was expected to release on the same day as Sucker Punch's highly anticipated sequel (June 7), but EA has just confirmed a delay for Shinji Mikami and Suda 51's new project: it'll come out a couple weeks later on June 21. At that time, we can take on the role of demon hunter Garcia Hotspur, who travels to hell to save his one true love, Paula. He'll be accompanied by a cool, semi-evil skull named Johnson who will morph into weapons for Garcia. And with the likes of industry veterans Mikami (Resident Evil 4, Vanquish, etc.) and Suda 51 (No More Heroes, Killer 7), we figure this dark game has a ton of promise. Hopefully, that added flair will set it apart from other third-person shooters on the market today.

Yeah, multiplatform titles usually aren't intimidated by exclusives (unless they're called Halo or Gran Turismo or maybe God of War), but even so, June 21 sounds better to us. ...gotta have inFamous 2.

Smart move for EA to let the heat die down. Though two totally unique gaming experiences, InFamous 2 would surely hurt Shadows sales.

So, they're now releasing it a week after Alice? It should set itself apart, though the premise sounds a hell of a lot like Dante's Inferno. I'll pick this one up after a price drop. It's interesting, but with iF2 dropping in the same month... it's ain't that interesting.
Peace.

This game won't even touch the awesomeness of Dante's Inferno :)

Speaking of, I picked that up on Monday for $25. I'm wondering whether I should tackle it or Yakuza 4 first. Suggestions?

I always play my shorter games first, you can rage through hell and deal with Satan and his terrifying large dong in about 8 hours give or take. But don't forget to sit back and take in the great backgrounds from time to time. Say hello to Pontius Pilate for me down there :)

Then you'll be ready to take on the streets of Japan and enjoy some time in a hostess bar or two at your leisure.

Just as a sidenote: The Splinter Cell Trilogy also releases on the 21st (17th for Euro, YAY!). This definitely plays second fiddle to that. Also, there's apparently another SC iteration in the works at the new Toronto studio. Let's see how that goes.
Peace.

P.S. Thanks for the advice World. I'm just looking at the games to play... and there's a lot of long ones: Nier, DA:O, 3D Dot Game Heroes and Majin, as well as Yakuza, the PoP quadrilogy and finishing up the Sly Trilogy. And I'm supposed to have all that done before the next onslaught begins with L.A. Noire? Yeah... not gonna happen.

Sounds interesting. Haven't heard much about this game, but it sounds good enough that I'll be looking forward to seeing some review scores.

Might be a pretty good bargain bin purchase.

i believe my cash will be going to sucker punch!
Although a 3rd person shooter set in hell sounds nice.
I miss killing demons with a chainsaw ala doom!

My interest for this title died when I learned it will be coming to the Wii.

Where'd you read/hear that? It was originally planned for release on Wii and PC, but unless I'm missing something, those projects were scrapped.

Lawless is right, those projects got scrapped, but I wonder if any work done on Wii will show up as graphical degradations in the PS3 and 360 versions.

It's running on the Unreal Engine, so I'm not expecting great things visually anyway. Although the Wii version of games is usually developed separately, so odds are it won't have en effect. However there is a downside. No possibility for Move compatability. This could be a fun game to use with it.
Peace.

Oh wait it's using the UE3? Never mind, forget what I said about bargain binning it.

A triple A game on UE3 is decent, a back burner game on it will be less than appealing.

Looking like a solid 7, which means a late low price buy for yours truly.

I'm guessing closer to 6. Was not what the creator initially intended. I'm thinking this game has a decent chance to bomb.

looks really cool, but your going to have to be jesus christ to sell well in june!
normally the months crowded, but with the release of infamous 2 and red faction armageddon that more then fills up the month!
this has not exactly been getting much media attention, and we all know what that means!

this game is going to flop big time, and continue suda's curse of delivering games that don't sell. hotspur? wtf kind of name is that for a charcter? sounds like a name you would give to a horse. giddyup hotspur.

i did enjoy vanquish for the short time it lasted.
