EA Sports Subscription Service Details
EA is one of several publishers that charge a $10 online pass for those who purchase their games used, and another subscription option appears to be on the way.
According to a survey and a document that has been circulating, EA Sports is planning a subscription service for those who often purchase their sports titles. As you can see by the pasted document through the link, those who sign up will be entitled to some cool benefits, such as:
-- Discounts on downloadable content
-- Full downloadable versions of games before they come out in stores
-- Ability to transfer paid content from current titles to future title versions
-- Free and exclusive EA Sports downloadable content for participating console-based titles
There are a few other perks, too, but that bit about being able to grab digital versions of games before they're available on store shelves is sweet. On top of which, the fans are definitely going to like being able to transfer paid content from one year's iteration to the next.
There's no price attached to this yet, so the question is: how much would you be willing to pay for this service?

It's an interesting idea and one that a lot of sports video game fans will problem utilize, but I'm kinda hoping it doesn't take off. Mostly due to the
"Free and exclusive EA Sports downloadable content for participating console-based titles"
deal.
I don't want my rpgs, platformers, and puzzle solvers, to start requiring monthly subscriptions in order to get all the "exclusive" items.

As for me, I don't buy sports games, and I don't play them unless I'm at someone else's place. They just don't hold that appeal for me. If I want to play sports, I'll do just that.
Peace.

Anyhoo, this move by EA doesn't surprise me. It's their way to try and get back what they lose from the resell market.
