Browns Back Peyton Hills To Grace Madden 12 Cover

This is just plain weird.

There are a whole lot of NFL stars that have household names, and any one of them could have ended up on the cover of Madden NFL 12. EA ran a tournament where fans voted on the athlete they wanted to see grace the cover of this year's Madden, and the winner is...Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis. You know, in looking at the initial field, we would've figured Hillis would be a long-shot, but after five weeks and almost 13 million votes, the Browns back won in a landslide. He beat out Philadelphia's Michael Vick in the final showdown by a count of 66% to 34%. Now, not to take anything away from Hillis, but we have a theory- with all the bad luck cover athletes have suffered in past years, fans of their favorite teams and players were petrified of voting for their man.

That's just a theory, mind you. But hey, it's a nice surprise, isn't it?

Seems like this is the only thing the Browns can actually win.

Hey, somebody had to say it.

It comes to show how good of fans Clevland has. I live up in Washington but a Browns fan. But a die hard Seahawks fan. I also like the Broncos(hope Tebow starts this season) and a bengals fan(will lose WR Chad Ochocinco and WR Carlson Palmer)...

Yay! So proud, he may not have deserved it compared to some other guys but you see he has the support of Browns fans worldwide.

Draft tomorrow, hoping we can land AJ Green, if not I'll take Julio Jones.

He absolutely deserves this, Hillis was the Breakout star of the '10-'11 season.

lol take it in stride clevland. after losing bron bron, having a crap basketball and subpar football season, cover athlete payton hillis comes to save the day. I will say he's one of those sleeper athletes that deserves it as much as someone like vick. He's a brute in the backfield. Man the bronco's really screwed up in letting him go.

110% GradeA BS. No way this guy deserves to be on the cover of Madden over Vick. Vick had more impact on his team, took them to the playoffs and even in the running for MVP...this dude at best had 2 highlight for the season. Corey Blount* was a better running back than this guy and he only played half of the games for the Bucks.

The real reason Vick didn't get it was because of his past...I mean come on people, Vick did his time so stop knocking him. Because we wouldn't want people always bringing up bad things we did in the PAST! Especially when we did the time for it

Dude I Totally Agree With You! Me And My Homeboyz Was Talking About That Earlier, I Think Vick Really Did Win But E.A Probably Knew It Was Gonna Have Some Backlash If They Had Vick On The Cover So They Lied And Put Ol Boy On. Thats Just My Opinion Though

Agree as well...Hillis...umm no...He didn't have anywhere close to the type of season Michael Vick had..

I mean come on..how do fans vote Peyton Hillis when Jamal Charles and AP are better and had better seasons

It's not about who had the best season states, super bowl win or who deserves it. it's about the fans voting for there favorite guy. Them Cleveland fans are the best. The 12th man(Seattle) are amazing but I have to give them props for sticking with there teams trough the loses. 80% of fans give up on there teams...

Vick doesn't deserve anything. He shouldn't of even been in the running for the cover.

All the 32 teams had a player in the run! Except Seattle, they had the fans(12th man) for the cover vote. :) Every team has a chance to make it on the cover. This just shows that the Cleveland fan base is the strongest.

I'm sorry but Michael Vick is not what claim. People make mistakes and sh*t happens. Served his time and that's good enough. Hate when people try to make an example of the man for what he did...yet human beings die everyday or are starving everyday and nobody says anything..nobody cares...hypocrites..

Um no one said Vick should go back to prison or be executed. He just shouldn't be celebrated by gracing the cover of a game millions of people play (and a $125,000 bonus), How about instead of trying to defend a convicted felon, you try to help those human beings dying every day?

@Dlte

Umm I never said anybody said Vick should go back to prison or executed. Why can he not be celebrated is the real question? Because he made a mistake? That's BS. He owned up to it and paid his price.

You sit here and say he shouldn't grace the cover of a game that millions of people play..Yet millions of people watch him play football. Millions of people bought Vick jerseys last year.

Has nothing to do with him being a convicted felon..and the felony he was convicted of had nothing to do with what he did. Look it up. It's about the view of our society. We crucify a man over animals and it makes national news. Somebody dies and it's treated as just another day in America.

Homeless people on corners asking for monetary help and the majority ignore them. Their poverty isn't nation wide.

Personally I give what I can to the homeless. I talk to young men in my neighborhood everyday to deter them from making bad decisions. Maybe you should open your eyes and your mind instead of saying it isn't right for someone to get recognition because they're a convicted felon. Maybe you should help out others instead of bashing/hating on a man who did something wrong but has been doing everything right since then...

One thing that blows my mind is how badly Vick is seen by the public for fighting dogs, while so many other players are connected to human crimes, like domestic violence, shootings and other crap. They are slapped on the wrist and forgotten about.

I'm not saying Vick didn't do anything wrong, but others have done worse and suffered less.

Michael Vick deserved the cover just as much as Peyton Hillis. Michael is a changed man, he is an amazing man now. he is a really great player and person now. You act like he still does it? He will lead the Eagles to the playoffs again.

I'm happy for Hillis. Good for Browns fans for getting behind him to vote him on. I have a soft spot for Cleveland fans, they've had it sh*tty for the past 40 years or so.

imo if its football (team sport) why not put the entire team on the cover or just their logo. im tired of this singling out one player its gettin old. Hillis deserves more then this low achievement.

As a proud Ohioan I am curious how it is possible for a Cleveland sports team to be on the cover of any game. Oh well, hopefully the Indians don't trade off everyone again, we could have a good team again.

This cam to a huge surprise to me, every week was. How does Peyton hills take out Charles(Chiefs RB), Ray Luis, Aron Rodgers(Superbowl MVP) and then Micheal Vick?
I was voting for Hillis starting day one, but never thought her would make it passed Aron Rodgers. And then Vick. Crazy. I was surprised by the Cleveland fan base stepping it up for their team.

Now for the game it self... It needs a lot of work. What I've seen so far for the improvements is good but it needs a lot, I mean a lot of improvements. I ant making my decision until the Demo.

I love football! I just wish EA sports didnt extend their NFL contract so ESPN NFL 2k and games like Backbreaker to pick it up as will. Once the contract is up in 2013 I hope all three or more get the NFL licensing.

GO SEAHWAWKS! - 12th man
