Director Commentary For Bayonetta
We often hear directors talk about their games, but how many get super involved with their product after it's out the door?
Well, Platinum Games Hideki Kamiya is one such dedicated individual. After heading the team that produced Bayonetta last year, he has been playing his game and recording his time. You can watch some of it over at the studio's blog; you can listen to Kamiya's commentary track "on the inspiration, creation, and intent" behind the critically acclaimed title. Everything's in full English, too, so feel free to watch it; there's some really great commentary, and it's especially interesting if you're a big action fan. It's true that PS3 owners sort of got hosed due to an inferior port by Sega, but for those of you who played the Xbox 360 version, you're well aware of this game's top-notch quality.
Thankfully, Platinum didn't make the same mistake twice; Vanquish was almost identical on the PS3 and 360, and it ruled on both.

I'm also eager to play the 360 version of Bayonetta with a PS3 controller. What you say?
That's right. I ordered a Chinese PS3/PS2 to 360 controller adapter and it works like a charm. Now I can use my HRAP3 arcade stick and DS3 with any of my favorite 360 games.

Loved the music though.
That said, I still think Platinum is capable of something special. I haven't seen it yet, but I'd be willing to give Bayonetta 2 the benefit of the doubt and a chance.

If those few issues are addressed with the sequel, I will most likely pick up the sequel Day 1!!

But when it was released i thought i'd give it a whirl, especially considering it was from the same man who gave us the original Devil May Cry.
After the first few chapters i was hooked, imo it has THE best & most stylish combat system around, the fact that a newbie can literally mash buttons at random only to have a massive heel stomp everything from the sky makes it instantly awesome to play. Don't let the whorish cover art sway you, this game is a masterpiece & it's true beauty lies within it's deep combat system.
It's good to see the main man enjoying his work. Now where is my freakin' sequel!?

It's for the person who would recognize the almost limitless combo and overall combat possibilities and ridiculous diversity (which is absolutely unmatched this generation), and focus on attempting to be as masterful as possible. That's why I never finished it. But I knew how silly unbelievable that stupid in-depth fighting mechanic was...I just couldn't do it very well.

ninja gaiden or devil may cry are made for the hardcore, the games which require direct perfect timing instead of just mash square as fast as you can to win each battle!
IF it had the anal precision that ninja gaiden requires it could of been really cool!
but sadly it does not.

With that out of the way, it's refreshing to see a developer go back over his own production a year after release. I'd like for this sort of thing to happen more often and for the devs to give their thoughts on the game in retrospect, as well as how well they think it's held up against other games since release. It'd be an interesting look at both the development process, and perhaps it could inspire them to do better. Or not.
Peace.
