Rumor: Modern Warfare 3 Official Announcement Soon?

Although it hasn't been officially announced, most assume Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is inevitable.

And although he wasn't specific about the title, the voice of Ghost has dropped some hints about the possibility of a MW3 reveal this month. Craig Fairbrass, who has lent his voice to the first two Modern Warfare games, told talkSPORT about his recent trip to LA, where he's "working on something that's going to be announced in May." Said Fairbrass:

"And I've just been out in LA doing something that's going to be announced in May... I've just been out there doing some bits and pieces and one of it's to do with... I can't say too much."

Modern Warfare 3 is rumored to be a joint effort between as many as three studios: Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, and Raven. And as far as the project itself, Fairbrass was impressed at the size and scope of the development:

"You do like five, six, seven sessions and they record it in this great big studio in Los Angeles, which is absolutely mental. I was out there from January to the end of February [and] Activision took me to their hub, I was a guest for the day, and they took me all around and they showed me the game - you know, these games are like $200 million to produce.

It's incredible. This place was like the size of 10 factories, there was all these people working."

We figure if you can make a billion freakin' dollars from one game, you can spend a few hundred million to make the next one. That sounds about right. At any rate, we fully expect to hear something official soon.

Even though I was disappointed with the Modern Warfare 2 multilayer, as well as the length of the campaign, I am kind of looking forward to see what Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, and Raven could come up with together.

The story in mw 1 & 2 was top notch in my opinion and spec ops was great fun splitscreen and online.
But after the epilepsy inducing, brain numbing turd that was black ops i'm gonna pick up mw3 from a bargain bin.

To be fair Treyarch did CoDBlops. Most people prefer the Infinity Ward games, but then we know Infinity Ward is now a shadow of its former self so ya gotta take that into account too.

I liked the stories to an extent. They were ok, nothing fancy. What I like about the COD games is the action sequences. They are far more enjoyable than most any other FPS. They are just portrayed and more importantly, played out so well. Normally what you would experience in a cut scenes in most other FPS, the COD games make them playable, and interactive! Very very good choice in my opinion.

But they need to step it up. They are losing some of the flair they once had dispite sales. What I mean is, make a long, good campaign, and go back to what made the mp fun!

They just make you think it's better by adding action around you that isn't actually happening on the playing field. They do a good job of making it feel intense, but when you can actually stop and stand there as explosions and fake bullets whiz around or go take a leak and nothing actually happens, you can see that it's all smoke and mirrors in the cod games.

Yea... No. I'm not sure what your reffering to. I'm talking about all the slo-mo action sequences. The cliff jump at the end of the snowmobile level in MW2, the running across village rooftops to escape an abundance of enemies with no weapon or back up, the rappelling down a cliff side on a tie line and silently killing the enemies below, or even to quote Ben, in his Black ops review- "My favorite moment was when I broke through a window off a zip-line, entered that slow-mo mode, and took down everyone in the room." even in black ops theirs a mission where at the end you have to free fall off a cliff and you narrowly miss the rocky edges below. That stuff is fun to see on screen, but the plus is they give you control of it! That's what I'm talking about.

Those types of sequences don't happen in most other FPS which is why I say COD does te over the top Hollywood type action, the best. It's both engaging and awesome to experience from a gameplay standpoint.

In my original post I said I was disappointed with the LENGTH of the campaign. I love the campaign to both Modern Warfare 1 and 2. At the end of 2 all i could say was that i cant wait for 3. I hope they make the campaign a little longer than 2 but I think 3 will be really good. I also hope multiplayer is more balanced, I was very disappointed with the balance of the multiplayer of 2, such as all you had to do was use your kill streaks then you could get a nuke.

I'm just shocked that they spend so much money on these games and they never do anything new or get any better. You've got these huge teams working with all this old tech and it can't even come close to what what a nice medium sized studio like ND, Insomniac or Visceral Montreal produces.

I loved the first two modern warfare games. I'm really skeptical and apprehensive about MW3, though. Without the original IW team masterfully developing this one I really don't know what to expect, quality wise.
I suppose it's a little reassuring that Activision is throwing tons of money at it. I can at least expect spectacular moments and exhilarating "wow" moments.

Show me something worth while is what I say. I want to see something new and different. Call of Duty has gone down the drain..The campaigns are hit and miss if you ask me with the original Modern Warfare still being the best..

Even Multiplayer wise the original is the best. All these killstreak rewards are ridiculous and over power the game. I've said it before..not buying CoD just to play with friends this year..show improvement and innovation if they want my cash.

I might consider it if, and only IF, the following criteria are met:

1. With so many developers on board, the campaign had better be long this time. I want at least 9 hours of story driven goodnees, none of this 4-5 hour crap.

2. The campaign better have some variation to it. Multiple vehicle missions, skyhook pickups, manning a cannon from a satellite imagery plane like in COD 4, more than 2 sneaky missions and camoflage missions, fistfights, less gltiches, THE WORKS!!!

3. Fix online so newcomers or noobs like myself have a place to go without being headshotted at every respawn point. Makes the game far less fun.

4. Vehicles!! I wanna drive or fly something awesome!!!

5. Some environmental damage please, even just wooden stuff breaking apart or bullets travelling through thin materials, it just adds to the realism.

Honestly, most of the stuff I've requested is all available in Battlefield 3. HA!!! I know what FPS I'm picking up in November. (Uncharted 3 in a no-brainer BTW)

I think you're asking for a reboot and not so much a sequel, dancemachine. I wouldn't hold my breath on a few of your requests for MW3.
MW CoDs are straight up linear military themed arcade-style action FPS games. I wouldn't imagine them changing up their successful formula as it would betray their already massive audience.

Problem is the fly or drive mechanic can fail spectacularly if not done right. Hopefully Battlefield 3 will show how it should be done properly!

While this game may please the hardcore COD boys. The rest of us will probably just pass this one up. Blops was a major letdown and my last one. If ppls want a good FPS they should just get K3.

$200 million dollars... Somehow, I think not. I mean, GTA IV cost half that, and the production values were ridiculously better than what I've seen from BlOps so far. Don't get me wrong, I can see the quality of the game, but so much of it just feels cheap, rather than difficult. Maybe I'm just not good at FPS games, but I don't care. CoD remaains on my do not want list.

P.S. To the mods, I'm having troubles with the site. Whenever I load a page, it refuses to load the comments. The workaround that I've found is to disconnect the internet and reload it, and this causes the entire page to display. Not sure what's going on there.

You know, if I had that much money being dumped into my studio for just one game, I'd think about updating the engine from last gen before anything else. I'd also work on all versions of the game being equal graphically and performance-wise, and oh yeah, I'd spend a little more time on the Q&A department to iron out all the glitches. And with that much money it can't be hard to hire someone who knows how the hell to balance a multiplayer, or someone who can make a good long story for single player.

But hey, why take "risks" like these when your formula is so successful, right?

Another blurry graphically impaired game to avoid like the plague.

Most likely it will look just like the last 6 games which means it'll look like an early ps2 game.

Sorry, milkers. I got my eyes set on Battlefield 3 and I hope you can learn somthing. You all been using the same engine for four years now and you havn't done anything to the game other then add Zombies. I hate Zombies!

These budgets are becoming too big. I think we will end up with plenty of consolidation in the industry. Studios who go triple A and don't quite make it will close outright and not have much of a second chance. Its a make it or you go down World now... things have changed so much in the last decade!

cant wait to see what bungie, insomniac and respawns new games are!
