inFamous 2 Demo "Definitely Planned"

Before the PSN went down, some of you got a chance to sample the inFamous 2 beta.

But most have yet to lay hands on Sucker Punch's hotly anticipated sequel, which is why so many are pining for a playable demo. Well, with the game only a little over a month away, we're all wondering- are the developers planning to release a single-player demo? And if so, when and how? The good news is that according to European source PSFocus, Sucker Punch's Kenneth Schramm says they're definitely planning a demo:

"Yeah, we've got a sample for you. It's coming out within a few weeks. So yes, a demo is definitely planned."

Sweet! Just don't package it in with a crappy movie; it gets on the nerves of many a gamer. At this rate, we're just hoping for the PSN to return this week and maybe - just maybe - the inFamous 2 demo will be one of the first new pieces of content to hit the resurrected Network.

Yah, maybe I'd look into these Infamous games if it wasn't for the vastly superior Prototype games.

Same here!!! But I'm not gonna lie... when I got into the Beta, I realized I had nothing to play and I actually messed around with it for about 10 minutes before I realized I had waited enough time already that I could wait a month more.

I haven't really clicked on any videos, or articles, I just want the whole thing to be super fresh. I made that mistake with Killzone, Uncharted and Resistance. By the time I played those games, I had seen so much footage on them that certain parts were ruined because I had already seen them in action and knew how they went down.

yeah I applied for the beta and probably wouldn't have been able to leave it alone, but I can skip a demo. Unless I have to do a hands-on preview, which I don't wanna do for this reason.

Ahhh, wasn't the beta or demo for resistance 3 or uncharted 3 included in the 1st run copies of infamous 2?

Some of you guys or waiting for e3 for sony, I'm more curious about nintendo. Geez, N announces a handheld last year that bests their console.

Now, there announcing a console that's rumored to be way more powerful than the ps3 and xbox 360. To be honest, until the announcement in April i think, I NEVER saw this coming.

M$ and Nintendo Console only live for 4 or 5 yrs.

Sony's Console's have a 10 year life cycle.

how are we going to be able to get the demo if the store is going to be down for 3 weeks or more? i guess its gonna have to come out post game launch or real close to launch.

most demo's don't come out until the week before a game releases anyway. Some don't even come out until the week of or weeks after the release.

Kiryu, I kinda want sony to release it second, but i really want it released dead last to best both consoles. By besting, I mean steal or create something better than their competitors. (As if nintendo or xbox wouldn't do the same.)

You know, sony could release all there games in 1080p, they just have to put it on multiple discs like xbox. That is, if the wii2 is a graphical powerhouse as they say.

why would sony have to put 1080p games on multiple discs? Disc space has nothing to do with their games not being 1080p.

Most ps3 games are only using a fraction of the space available as is.

Uhh, if GT5 can be done in 1080p on a single disc with the ridiculous amount of options in that game, then it hardly seems likely that disc space is an issue. It really comes back to the time that the devs have to produce those high-def visuals, as well as financial difficulties associated with games development.

There's more to it than appears on the surface.

You guys do realize that game graphics aren't stored on disc like movies are, right?

With very few exceptions, pre-rendered FMVs are no longer used, so even the "cut scenes" are rendered in real time by the GPU (etc.).

So, as Kraygen said, disc size has very little effect on resolution (e.g., 1080p).

The reason games aren't usually in 1080p is that developers choose to spend the processing power on other effects rather than on producing more pixels per second.

Fair point Fane, but doesn't the pushing of more pixels mean more processing power being utilised by an increase in the amount of code being forced to run simultaneously? And because more code needs to be written, does that not take up disc space? As I've mentioned before, I'm really quite clueless as to how it all works.

im getting more and more excited about infamous 2 the more i replay the first game. I will say my one criticism, looking back on it, the first infamous' facial expressions were really spazzy. Hopefully the character movement will be more fluid like uncharted. other than that. Im thinking that with my original dilema of choosing between this or R3, im really leaning toward infamous 2. Im a bit shooter'ed out right now so this seems like a good chice.

I'm not too worried about the demo. I didn't get to make any levels for the beta, but you can still see a few of the powers and run around and what not.

I can tell you it's going to be uber awesome and I can't wait for the game.

Don't give a damn about the demo, but I can't wait for the game. inFamous 2: My most anticipated game of 2011. Oh yes, even more than Uncharted 3, and if I haven't finished L.A. Noire before release, it's going to become the first time that I've stopped playing one game to start another without playing both intermittently (Not counting GT5, because it's impossible to finish that game).

But DAMN!!!! we haven't got an official release date yet. WTF Sony?! How can you do this to me?

Australia... Sorry, I keep forgetting to mention that. And we assuredly do NOT have an official date from Sony on any of them. But it shouldn't be too far from the US releases. It's not usually more than three days apart. Never know though.

i hope they open up the beta too im dying to get into the level creation tools!
cant believe $ony have not given us a release date yet!
typical, they release the US date months before release but AU have to wait till weeks before release!
i hope its before the 7th that way i get a few days to play and enjoy it because once DNF is out the rest of june is going to be occupardo!

DNF over inFamous? Are you insane? That's like taking Harry Potter over LotR. It may be to the taste of some, but the majority know which is really better (or so I hope... sometimes I don't even have that much faith in the intelligence of people).

Alright! I'm glad I can get a little taste of the game pre-launch, since I never got to play the beta.

I just hope they got enough feedback from the incredibly short beta to make the user-generated content aspect of the game up to stat.

I have actually heard little about and shown little interest in Deus Ex. So far the way that game's pre release marketing is going imo is pretty bad. I hear it mentioned around here sometimes, but i have no knowledge about it other then when it is mentioned by word of mouth. As far as my decision, yea, im getting infamous 2. Its a done deal. Too good of a game to pass up
