Tomb Raider: Inspirations, Puzzles, Innovative Camera
Crystal Dynamics is pulling out all the stops for their Tomb Raider reboot.
More details continue to arrive, and the latest will pique your interest: taken from the Spanish publication Hobby Consolas and cited at Segment Next, the following gameplay information for Lara's new adventure has been discovered: firstly, the team took inspiration from the movie "Batman Begins," and they say Lara "will undergo the same transformation as Bruce Wayne did as a protector of Gotham City."
Secondly, there will be three types of missions: Survive, Rescue, and Escape. Thirdly, we'll have to return to base camp in order to learn new skills or grab new tools. Fourthly, the puzzles have been inspired by Half-Life 2, as the player will have to deal with the physics of water, currents, gravity and weight of objects. The cool part is that every puzzle in Tomb Raider can be solved in a variety of different ways, and we'll get the help of Lara's "survival instinct," which highlights objects she may find useful for the puzzle-solving.
Lastly, there's mention of an Innovative Camera Frame, which will allow us to determine Lara's mood based on her "facial expressions, fear and blurring effects." ...so, does that mean she could be running around with a big ol' silly smile plastered across her face? No, probably not. But we like this mechanic's potential.

how can you hate batman begins?
one of the best, if not the best Bman game ever released!
i wish WB would do a HD remake of that game, was such a classic!
one of the very few times a movie game turns out good, and the very first time a movie game turned out better then any other game in that series!
arkham asylum was good, but it did not have the stealth and gadgets begins emphasized on.
AA felt more like a brawler then a stealth game.
did not have enough detective parts either, i mean come on the caped crusader is the best detective out there!

The Innovative Camera Frame thing just sounds like they're trying to catch up to Uncharted in that regard, but the rest sounds pretty cool. Provided they can fix the camera and make the combat a bit better too, they could finally have a good TR game again. But only time will tell if that's the case.
