L.A. Noire Launch Trailer: The Wait Is Almost Over

Hey, did you realize one of the most anticipated games of the year is less than a week away?

It's true. L.A. Noire will launch on May 17, which is the upcoming Tuesday, and Rockstar is celebrating with the official launch trailer. We've already seen plenty thanks to their gameplay series videos, but it's always nice to have the promotional trailer that will be all over the place. ...well, we hope it'll be everywhere; gotta advertise this one.

The idea of an interactive detective thriller never gets old in my mind, which is why I have nothing but the highest expectations for L.A. Noire. Right about this time last year, I was anxiously awaiting Red Dead Redemption (which launched on May 18, 2010) and that turned out really, really well.

Damn that's looking sweet. Too bad I have to wait another fortnight before I can get it. :(

GotY contender for sure and beyond a shadow of a doubt my third most anticpated release of 2011. I hope it doesn't disappoint, but with the backing of R*, I really don't see how that's even possible. They blew us all away last year, and it seems that they'll do it again with this guaranteed gem from Team Bondi.
Peace.

Yes! I read the Brink reviews and was so disappointed I returned it without even opening the package from Amazon. Turned right around and preordered LA Noir! I am so happy right now! :) I hope they release the extra cases on PSN later down the road.

they have already said that the dlc will be available and we wont have to wait a year for it like we did with red dead redemption. i dont expect it to be right away but within a few months.

I only hope that they don't cost five bucks a pop. Twelve cases and you've bought the game over, even though there's supposed to be double that number on disc. $2.50US each? That's cool.

Brink severely disappointed me as well, mainly because the friendly AI on your side in the SP is crap -_-
I'll return it and immediately pre-order the special edition of Infamous 2, I would've gotten the Hero edition if it wasn't 130 euros here o.O
which is 185 dollars :O I don't understand the price difference, they used to just replace the dollar sign with the euro sign...

Can't wait for this game ... honestly. I just have one gripe. Heavy Rain was an awesome game for me. However, for some ... not so awesome.

Now, I am seeing nothing but glowing remarks for LA Noire and of course they may very well be deserved, but ... hasn't this revolutionary ground kinda already been covered in terms of drama, story, excitement and realism? I'm not talking about developers or critics (well most of them anyway) but the hordes of people who were like ... "Where's the game?"

Heavy Rain probably had a much bigger impact than a lot of people would care to admit.

You can't expect that level of innovation and revolution to hit every year. Heavy Rain is almost more of a once-in-a-generation phenomenon.

I don't expect anything completely new in L.A. Noire, but I do expect it to be like Red Dead Redemption: a fantastic gathering of great gameplay features.

The game looks pretty action-packed. Seems like my type of game. By the way, Amazon increased the Video Games Credit on this game from 10 dollars to 15 dollars so don't forget to pre-order it!!!

Plus, every pre-order still comes with a code to unlock the Broderick Detective Suit. Sweet deal for gamers.

Action-packed? Team Bondi has included an option to skip the action sequences. I think it's pretty clear that the focus is on the story and detective work, rather than combat and driving. But I'm cool with that!

"R* Y 7 minutes ago
It is a good mix of several key gameplay types. Each of the main story cases is a blend of crime scene investigation, interrogation and action but the mix will be different from case to case. The game is definitely going to ask you to think a lot more than a more action-heavy game, although unassigned cases are small, bite-size street crimes that you can also take up, and they are almost always action-based."

Bah, and I won't be able to play it until some time after mid June. By then Infamous 2 will be waiting for me as well. Maybe I'll have my wife mail it to me while I'm in California. I'm going to have Infamous 2 and L.A. Noire to complete before I leave to Europe. Going to be tough.

I'm going on a month long tour with my band. We're playing a bunch of different countries including the UK. You should come out if you can. I'll send you the date and location to your PSX inbox when the venue and date is confirmed in case you want to go.

Ha, I will if you really want one though it will be soggy and nasty by the time I get there. The best burgers here come from a restaurant called Cheddars. That I know of anyway. :)

Wow, I'd heard you mention you were in a band but had no idea it was a big successful type that tours abroad n'such. All the very best of luck with it!

With the ban on work over here I can barely afford to fill the car up, so I wouldn't make it unless it was in Hartlepool - which it isn't because no one comes from America to Hartlepool. Seriously though mate, I hope it goes really well.

Don't worry about the burger. You'll have enough to carry.

Heart attack with buns. lol. In NY there is a great secret place that I know of that makes burgers some would kill for. Heart attack ain't the world. One of there burgers has its own pulse.

American burgers are their own region, with area code and everything. If you had a line of them stretching from East coast to West, you would have approximately 7 burgers.

Ha, yea that's what I meant. Cheddars is the best place to get a burger near me. Though I am sure there are other places in the US that have just as good or better burgers.

And thanks RadioHeader. I'm sure will have a lot of fun. I'll post the details in the forums once they are all confirmed. Anyone who lives in Europe is welcome to check it out. Oh, and were not huge. Ha, this tour is mostly self funded. We're pretty a D.I.Y. band as of now.

Getting this game. Just don't know when I will be getting INTO this game. Time is very precious nowadays.

Also, Ben and PSX staff. I've been meaning to mention this. When I am at the PSX homepage and reading the headlines with the small intro to the story. When I click thru I never have to reread that intro. No other website that I know of does this. It is refreshing. I just wanted to take the time to thank you guys for that. It's the little things.

Im a fan of Goodtimes. Its cheap, fast food, but really fresh ingredients (they have their own slaughterhouse... jk) I like Red robin, also In n' out is awesome too but i rarely get to go there since there are only a few restaurants in the country. Btw have any of you heard of that burger thats basically a beef patty slapped betweed 2 kryspie kreme doughnuts? I need to try this... Us americans and our disturbingly unhealthy food creations.

@ Emax
It seemed like u were trying to compare heavy rain and LA noire. They are likely to be completely different. Both are crime dramas, but they have different time periods, game mechanics, ones sanbox i think too... LA noire will be way different, but probably very similar in gaming style to GTA and RDR
