Modern Warfare 3 To Be On A "Much Larger, Epic Scale"
It still isn't official but hell, it might as well be.
And the details are starting to flow freely. Various sources - who have seen the game in action - have given Kotaku plenty of information: first up is the story, which will be a direct sequel to the plot found in Modern Warfare 2 and it'll be "bigger," too. It's also likely that many recognizable faces will return, including Captain John "Soap" MacTavish and Captain John Price. But the biggest change seems to be the overall size, in that MW3 "will take place on a much larger, epic scale." We'll follow the lead-up to a massive engagement between multiple countries that might be similar to a World War III scenario. The new focus will boast larger maps and destructible environments (hello, Battlefield) and that's a good thing.
We may be only days away from the official announcement. So, how many copies will this new mega-blockbuster sell?

Peace.
P.S. Hate to admit it, but it almost sounds as though IW is trying to play catch up to the announcements made thus far about Battlefield 3. I know that business is about emulating and outdoing your competition, but I'm not impressed.

For one, Modern Warfare's credibility has taken some damage due to the multiple problems/issues many gamers had with it, whether it's the maps, guns, Commando perk, Deathstreaks, etc. Many gamers don't like Modern Warfare 2 because of that, but I'm not one of those people.
Secondly, Black Ops is the highest selling game of this generation. That is a bold statement, especially nowadays. Modern Warfare 3 will have a hard time outselling Black Ops.
Last but not least, Battlefront 3 will be a major competitor. I'm no a big fan of the Battlefield series, personally, but many gamers are and choose it as an alternative to Call of Duty.

You must remember that CoD is the go-to game for casuals, regardless of the issues, and the Modern Warfare brand is just as strong, if not more so, than the main series because of the original smash hit. If I remember correctly, everyone was saying that BO would have trouble beating MW2, and look how that turned out. There may be stiffer competition this time, but that's not going to change a thing.
Jawknee,
I've actually been wondering about your username. How would one pronounce it? Jaw-knee (using the anatomical pronunciation), or Jawk-nee?
Peace.

@John, yea it's a given some would like Blops more or visa versa, my point is though Blops had just as many, if not more bugs, glitches, patches, the graphics regressed and people still ate it up. His assertion that people are jaded because the bugs in MW2 is just ridiculous. It will still sell ridiculously well and I wouldn't be surprised if it does outsell Blops considering IW has always done better CoD's than Treyarch.

Please point out where I said Black Ops didn't have any of those issues.
My main point was that gamers had a lot of issues with Modern Warfare 2, and now started disliking the game. That's why Black Ops sold so well, because people bought the game and went in thinking it will be so much better than Modern Warfare 2.
And now, since there are numerous gamers that have been disappointed by a Call of Duty game twice in a row (Modern Warfare 2 then Black Ops), why would they expect greatness from Modern Warfare 3? They're much more likely not anticipating the game or having low to medium expectations for it.

Lol on a more serious note, I predict another 20 million sales, at the very least, and if they manage to get the destructibility right, that'll be great but many hardcore gamers will know that COD is slowly but surely not getting any fresher (Black Ops was the most innovative in recent years, due to the Wager Matches, Split-Screen Online, etc.).

It would have been much better if they had actually seen the story to a conclusion in MW2 rather than distracting you and finishing the story on a side story and ignoring the overall direction of the game (If that finish [MW2] were to be the final part of the story then the idea of a direct sequel which follows the war between the US and Russia that had started in MW2 should not be happening).
In short, Infinity ward do not leave us with an open ending that blatantly calls for a sequel, it's just plain lazy.

Battlefield has had a handle on destruction physics for a while and BF3 looks to have the better presentation. I think whatever MW3 has will just be a wee bit of engine tweaking that allows a few corners of things to blow off.

In CoD's defense, World, there are only a few games in this gen, that have completely destructible environments. CoD usually has alot of random objects like computer screens, paper, and stuff that make some of the firefights seem more visceral. Still, an improvement on that would be welcome.

If my friends didn't play it, I wouldn't as well, but they do so I play online with them. I'm not sure about the new MW game yet, waiting additional information on what it has to offer.
I'm not sure if I'm plunging into this one yet.

And he was like "I don't want to do what the teenage kids do, I want my place to at least look a little grown up" (We are 30)
So I asked him what poster was getting this respectable frame at his place and he said "I bought this Black Ops poster on ebay the other day."
I love my friend, so I just smiled and said "Cool"

I don't just have doubts, I plain don't believe them. MW3 is going to be a re-plastered MW2 and everybody knows it. There really isn't any point to lie about it.
Those same 18 million people who bought the last 3 games aren't going to suddenly decide they don't want the new one. It's what they want and that's fine, no reason to make up stuff.

They may be stretching the truth with what they're saying, but to say outright that they're lying... Well, every dev has to try to make their game seem better so that it'll appeal to the masses. Look at some of the things that were bandied about with Homefront or Brink.
Peace.

I am gonna have to agree with killa on this one. I am going with Battlefield 3 for sure. I have bought every cod since waw and I have to say I am burnt out on the same game in a different package every year. It seems like IW has heard the chatter and is trying to play a bit of catch up on this one. Destructible environments is one of the many reasons I love BC2. (The dog-tags are my favorite lol )

With 5 separate DLC packs loaded with different tree-leaf colorization palette's to follow.
Only $14.99 each
(That will surly justify another 2 million new customers)

Its not skepticism if you have played every type of game on the planet including COD itself. There is no real reason to Hate Cod, in fact, the way they market the game is superior to most and the accessiblity is an angle it can hold over a lot of games.
(dont take offense to this) People who play multitudes of games besides COD can see that activison doesnt care about bettering the game, listening to fan responses (people are actually starting to get burnt out on cod madness... really its true). They never really have. Thats activison for ya and while cod was great originally. MW1 even MW2, its stale. Games continue to get better but cod remains stagnant. So my question to you is, is COD really worth dropping 60 bucks on year after year, when there is no real evidence that the game has evolved? In my opinion, Black ops didnt earn that money. Games like battlefield and uncharted earn every penny, and its developers like activision that give gamers a sour taste in their mouth when talking about COD. They continue to publish the same game Make ridiculous BANK while other devs dont get the dough they truly deserve. Can you really earn something if you dont put 100% into it all the time? Sometimes, but activision will continue feed that and your wallet and sluff off on games like COd that, lets be honest deserve a better developer. The COD fans deserve a better brand of game even if they dont know it yet.

Oh yeah, btw, still getting BF3. Screw CoD. Even with a bigger campaign, it'll still probably only clock at 6 hours (you know, 2 hours longer than MW2).
