PSXE Poll Update: Sony Fans Log Plenty Of PSN Hours
Our poll two weeks ago found that the vast majority of Sony followers were willing to stick with the PlayStation Network, despite the recent downtime.
But what do those results matter if we have a readership that doesn't really utilize the Network's services all that often? Hence, the second poll: and as it turns out, the majority of gamers are on the Network at least 3 hours per week, and more than 1/3 say they spend over 15 hours - i.e., the brunt of their entertainment week - on the PSN. Therefore, it really does seem as if the fans stuck by Sony through all of this, and the traffic spike after the Network returned in the past 24 hours is even more proof of their loyalty. Of course, one could make the argument that because it's free, it's easy to stick around. Yeah, well, consumers were plenty ticked off but it seems cooler heads prevailed.
This week, it's back to full-on gaming, and just in time, too. One of the most anticipated titles of the year lands on Tuesday: Rockstar's L.A. Noire. We can't wait to get started; how about you? Have you been anxiously awaiting it's arrival? Are you on the fence? Waiting for reviews? Just don't care at all? Let us know.

I wanted to mention it earlier, but you've been a welcome addition and I didn't want to be dickish.

This in from the PS blog....
Update on Service Restoration Rollout
Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media
We’re currently experiencing an extremely heavy load of password resets, and so we recently had to turn off services for approximately 30 minutes to clear the queue.
As such, a large number of people are attempting to change their passwords at the same time, it’s taking longer than expected for all those emails to clear all of the ISPs.
If you’ve requested your password reset, please give it a bit of time to reach your email. Thanks for your patience as we work to get everyone back online.

I'm hoping for a solid 9.2 average review score, but I just have a feeling that people are going to be surprised and it's going to fall flat and end up with an average 8.
Not that 8 is bad, but I have money set aside for Infamous 2 and White Knight 2, so anything else will have to prove itself first.

they have a post on the EU blog explaining this.
stupid thing is sony say some emails have taken 30 hours to be received.
but the link in them is expired in 20.
so what use is a expired link?
they know some instances have taken 30 hours, so they put a limit of 24?
oooooooooooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.
yup its confirmed, common sense is now non existent in this world!

It just ends up harming Sony's image more, which is what is not wanted. All this remains in the customers mind... long term effect rather than short term, especially when it comes to purchasing the next PlayStation...
Sigh... I hope it all goes well... I am still not able to get onto PSN!

The password reset traffic will gently fade and the short outages needed to clear the backlog will be forgotten.

Sony did the right thing. I havnt had any issues everyone I know hasn't. On twitter people from Europe were getting pretty irate that the PSN restoration went smoothly in the US, yet they hadn't gotten it up their yet. Prolonging it would make things worse. The types of problems people are having because of heavy traffic is the types of issues you get with every CoD game at launch. This is nothing big at all.

only use it for downloading demos, or sometimes downloading PSN games.
i get enough abuse at work then to sign on and have a 8 year old screaming in my ear and crappy RMB playing so loud my windows feel like there going to break, lord knows how his feel!
speaking of LA Noire it got pushed forward a day!
woot!
knew this would happen, games NEVER release on fridays!
in fact i dont think a game has released on a friday this gen, last game that was suppose to release on friday was ninja gaiden sigma but then that ended up being pushed forward to thursday too.
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cant wait to play LA Noire, after reading the GI review of it im even more excited to play it!
one habit thats been going on allot lately that i hope stops is reviews.
whats going on?
games use to get reviews weeks before release, hell i remember reading the enter the matrix review a good 6 weeks before release!
WTFs happened?
pretty much every single game released this year has had its review held back till the week of release, if not the day of release.
what gives?
are publishers that worried crappy reviews will hurt there sales?
well simple solution folks, dont make crappy games!
allot of people rely on reviews to base there opinion on whether they should buy it or not.
kinda hard to do that if the reviews come out on release date, especially here if you want to pick up a game you pretty much have to preorder it!
even with the 6+ stores around me, if i dont preorder a game good luck finding it within a month of release!
hell i was lucky to get BRINK, i went in on release day JB were sold out, EB were sold out, GAME were sold out, Kmart were sold out, target were sold out, bigW were sold out!
i was lucky though, i went back to EB to grab fallout NV instead and the manager told me a customer came in and did not want his preorder of brink so i could purchase it.
tis why i make sure i preorder my games at least 2 weeks in advance because if i dont good luck finding them!

u read the latest GI yet?
theres a article in there about the R18.
if its not passed at next months SAG, apparently there going to do it by state.
only bad thing is if they do it by state they have the power to remove the MA 15+ rating in there state.
so everything MA will become R,totally stupid!
imagine how much this is going to hurt game sales!
they dont exactly sell well as it is, but restricting what 80% of the sales to 18 and over?
not exactly a brilliant idea to boost the economy!

IMO assassins creed, GOW, GTA,MK, ect,ect are not suitable for 15.
a better idea would be to remove the M rating, and just have g, pg, ma, and r.
dont need m, bump pg up to where m use to be.
restricting games to a m or a r rating is just stupid!
oh well, if thats what it takes to get a r18 rating in, then so be it!
stupid thing is if they dont pass it at the SAG, then its up to each states attorney general to account it.
so QLD may not get it, but SA could, but NSW does not.
its just stupid, what one state has, all states should have!
this is just dividing up the country.

Plus they are a company that has shown us that even when they are down, they will what ever it takes to build back up. ei all do the critism in the start of this gaming gen and 360 getting a head start. Also this whole hacker issue with their online services. They have demonstrated precisely what a stand up type business should be doing to let their customers know they are a business that you can put your faith in.

She asked me to get it... I just stared at her... she is anything BUT a gamer. She said, "What? It looks like it might be fun like Heavy Rain!" I half-jokingly responded by saying, "I've never loved you more than I find myself loving you right now."
Obviously, I'm getting it Day 1 now. lol
