L.A. Noire Selling Out Quickly
Okay, either pre-orders are a lot higher than one might expect or Rockstar's L.A. Noire is super hot on day one.
Typically, huge releases see a ton of extra copies - beyond the pre-orders - hit store shelves. But in a regular perusal of the retail locations in this area, we've found that Team Bondi's potential Game of the Year candidate is sold out all over the place. Out of five GameStop locations, all but one had no copies for anyone besides those who pre-ordered, Best Buy was sold out, and Target had exactly two copies left. Interestingly enough, according to one GameStop manager, the game is selling much faster than anticipated, which may explain its lack of availability...did Rockstar actually underestimate the widespread interest in this game? That seems extremely unlikely but even so, the fact remains: if you haven't picked up a copy yet, you may have difficulty finding one.
We'll be posting our review within the next 48 hours (not sure when yet, exactly). I will apologize for the small delay, as I know the gaming community expects reviews on launch day, but I'd like to think our readers fully understand the amount of effort we put into all our reviews, especially in regards to the high-profile titles.

I have read some of the early reviews... they seem glowing. Tons of atmosphere. Well done RockStar, another star performance.
PSN still not up for me in Asia :(

I've been playing the game for most the afternoon. There are a lot of things I love about it. But I must be honest I'm not impressed with the hype the motion scan has gotten. The facial expressions are great no doubt, the lip synching is well done too. Needless to say I'm impressed with the technology, not so impressed by how much hype it received. I still feel like Uncharted 2 is top notch considering the development process compared to the motion scan. But again I'm not saying it's not good, it is very well done. I am loving the game though, it's pretty fun, kind of tedious, but entertaining. Its a lot of fun so far, which is far better than what I expected. I like most of what I've played so far not many complaints at all!
Also Im not sure, there must be some sort of weird demographic thing going on. I walked into Gamestop today not having it preordered, and they gave me the preorder bonus anyways, cus they have so many copies. I'm sure they'd be generous regardless. But even after the midnight release, when he opened the cabinet I'd guess they had at least 20 copies in there just for the PS3, and I'm sure more In the back. So either it's not a popular title where I'm from or my Gamestop overstocked.

And it's awesome to see that L.A. Noire is garnering such sales. A definite boost for the reputation of Team Bondi, which should act as a bit of a shot in the arm for the local games industry (*fingers crossed*), and also a bump for the intellectual gamers. I hope this persuades more devs to take an intelligent approach. Can't wait to pick this one up.
Peace.
P.S. Does anyone else think that maybe... just maybe Sony will approach Team Bondi to finish up what SCE London started on The Getaway 3, considering McNamara and all that? Also, did you know that both it and Eight Days apparently link to the Santa Monica Studios site (I haven't been bothered to check). Maybe that's what SM are working on...

If memory serves me correctly it's so good that LA Noire may end up being the second or third best release for the PS3 thus far this fantastic year, and the top game along with Portal 2 this spring.

shocked, i was not expecting this to be so popular seeing how its so different.
still really disappointed from the reviews, i mean come on in a game like this the story is EVERYTHING!
whats the point of having a game like this, if your actions have no consequences?
whats the point of being a detective, and locking up the wrong person has no effect on the story?
this is not a game, its a interactive movie!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My impression is that this is much more of a *game* than Heavy Rain ever was, it's more than just "an interactive movie" the way I understand it (and I sure hope so!).

It's pretty tough to catch on to the interrogation aspect of the game. I'm just a little over 50% right now! I'm tempted to start over again to apply what I've learned thus far...but I won't I'll just replay it after I finish the first one through. That is, unless my daughter takes it over!
There is quite a bit of action , and there ARE side missions to do , but, I'm not messing with those much in the first play through. The fighting is very Red Deadish with more of an emphasis on fist fighting.
The game is not a 10 imho because of a few issues I do not care for. The car controls are not very intuitive and it's difficult to drive fast and control the vehicles(steering is twitchy), gas is R2 and brake is R1 and that takes some getting used to. I've only messed up one interview and had to replay it you seem to be able to finish the case not matter how poorly you do on interrogations and you climb the ladder very quickly.
The ambiance will absolutely blow you away if you enjoy 40s movies, cars, and atmosphere.
I'll stop as I don't want to steal any of the review's thunder (as if I could ) or spoil something for someone. I just wanted to whet some appetite for this game. It's addictive! :)
