Starbreeze On Why They Aren't Doing The Darkness II
I was a big fan of The Darkness so when I heard the developer - Starbreeze - wouldn't be handling the sequel, I was a little peeved.
But sometimes, these things just happen. According to what Starbreeze CEO Mikael Nermark told CVG, the decision to take the new IP away was beyond their control. Thing is, by the time it was decided that a sequel should happen, Starbreeze was already working on a new project and so, The Darkness II went to Digital Extremes. Of course, fans of the first game shouldn't be too annoyed, as the latter studio has worked on both the Bioshock and Unreal Tournament franchises; hence, they know their shooters. Besides, it has been a while since The Darkness satisfied a few fresh next-gen gamers and most probably won't notice any small changes the new studio wishes to make. Some alterations are inevitable, right?
...just so long as I can still send out my demon arms and stealth kill dudes from afar. Don't take that feature away, Digital. I'll be pissed.
