Twisted Metal: Jaffe Dishes On All Things Multiplayer
Lest we forget, an iconic franchise will make its triumphant return this fall. And this time, it's coming with some bad-ass multiplayer.
Eat Sleep Play's David Jaffe spoke to the PlayStation Blog and talked about Twisted Metal's online offering, which consists of everything from team-based strategy to companion gunners to a much bigger arsenal. All sorts of awesome weapons will be featured, including returning favorites like the Homing Missile (the essential TM weapon!), Napalm, and Ice Blast, and we'll have new stuff like an alternate fire mode and the ability to freely aim projectiles with the right analog stick. And what's this about a motion-based combat mechanic called the Turbo Ram?
"If you have enough turbo, you can shake the controller forward and drill the crap out of an enemy in front of you. It feels almost like an uppercut in a fighting game."
Jaffe's ambitions are high but when asked what his number one goal is, he responded:
"I don’t have a number one goal. I have two goals. On the fiction side, I want people to fall in love with this dark, twisted, weird world as much as we do. On the gameplay side, Twisted Metal is a fighting game combined with a shooter. I want gamers to discover what hardcore Twisted Metal fans have known for a long time — that Twisted Metal is a great pick-up-and-play game, but it has a lot of layers and depth. To us, it’s in the same league as classic multiplayer games that build a community for years and years."
Yeah, we want it.

in fact last open world car combat game i played was full auto battlelines which was a ps3 launch title!
even that was not a full open world game, it had a few streets but you could not go wherever you wanted.
