Report: PlayStation Store Springs To Life Next Week

The PlayStation Network has returned but the Store remains down.

However, Sony promised to have all PSN services up and running before the end of the month, and the latest report is that the Store will resurrect next week.

According to a memo sent to developer and publishing partners, Sony says Store activity will resume on May 24. Furthermore, Sony restated their intention to produce two content releases per week until they're caught up; after all, they did miss three weeks worth of updating. The first round of content, set for the 24th, will include content that was originally scheduled to hit the Store on April 26, and then they'll push out more content - initially set for May 3 - on the 27th. They'll keep up the process until all the stuff they missed is on the Store and available for download, so yeah, better late than never, we suppose. Date adjustments may be required for certain developers but for now, such changes will take place on a "case by case basis."

It'll be nice to have the Store back. We've got a few PSN reviews that need to get done.

its weird because even though i can play online with friends, outside of needing to buy dlc the store doesnt need to be there to enjoy what we already have. obviously to move forward we need it back so i will be happy when it is up again. i miss being able to just go in the store and browse around, see what is there. it will be great to be flooded with content though.

Everyone wants the PlayStation Store to be back online so they can claim their free PlayStation games as part of the 'Welcome Back' promotion.

That's one reason I'll be signing on the instant the Store is back online, even if the Store is loading slowly due to the heavy traffic, I'll wait a few hours to download Infamous. (Was never lucky enough to play it before, so this is likely my last chance)

No one is going to get their free stuff.

This was a clever move on Sony's part because the world is ending on the 21st(Jerusalem time). So when the PS store comes back online the world will already be gone. So dont get your hopes up chaps. ;)

Good stuff!

Looking forward to the 'Welcome Back' package.

As well as that, I can finally start Dragon Age II. I didn't want to start without my Signature Edition DLC.

I will consider it a Birthday present. I already have most of the games on the Welcome Back list but I am looking forward to putting all this madness behind us. The Store will most likely see the heaviest traffic ever on that day so I expect a few hiccups and some more "OMG Sony is fail" comments and articles but were are making progress. I will ignore the ignorance.

I'm hoping when the PS Store is up on the 24th, that "D&D: Daggerdale" will be available.

It's slated for May 24th, but in light of the PS Store delays, I wonder if that date will still stick?

Awesome news, I miss my weekly demo's and the big psn fiasco happened only a few weeks after I managed to get my plus going.

Will be nice to see what is available, I miss the store more than online gaming, but then again, I rarely play online so that might have something to do with it.

LOL! Don't forget the Mayan calendar has the end in 2012, so even if May 22nd happens, we haven't really got much more than 7 months according to the Mayans.

Of course Stephen Hawking thinks that Heaven and related concepts are the stuff of fairy tales, so perhaps it's all just superstitious paranoia pandering to charismatic individuals....

lol

okok, so I'm not actually trying to make any point. Just wanted to make a Hawking joke. My cousin-in-law has his masters in theoretical physics and is near PH.D. status now too. His supervisor recently won a Nobel Prize aware, of who's work he was a part of!

Needless to say, he's studied much of what hawking has found, yet he would say there's no proof one way or the other. All we know for sure, is that there is a dimension beyond that of time and space that may affect the lower dimensions in minor or major ways. Trick is... how do you study beyond time and space if we are bound by it's rules?

It's fun to talk about!

Nice, I can't wait, that will essentially complete the reinstatement of PSN. Now, perhaps the folks in Japan can talk to the third parties Sony engaged to help with the re-design/re-implementation and testing - and get PSN back in action everywhere?

Yah, I can't wait! I really like FFVII, which I finished not too long ago on PSP. VIII from what I've read here and there seems to be hated on by some.

I still wanna play it though. People's opinions always seem to differ. Thanks for yours! =D

@Claire,

Well, I can't play past a certain point in FFVII, so it remains one of those games that had the potential to be a favorite, but for me personally is spoiled by one specific element. In explanation, I will simply say Aeris.

FFVIII lacks that obstacle, and well...I kinda sorta fell for Rinoa...

Yah! I teared up a little. I think it helps as motivation for the others' actions later in the game though. I do hope you finish it sometime.

PS: You like the Highlander movies or what? =D

Loved the first one, the second one was....hmmm... The third was an attempt to save it, but missed the mark. The TV series did a better job than either the second or third movie did.

As it happens, I am half Scottish in any case, and...really a 'highlander' as such.

I understand about the motivation bit in FFVII, I think it backfired for me the first time I played and that set the pattern for the other times I've tried. I still enjoy the game until that point though.
