Step Behind The Curtain On Naughty Dog's New Set
Okay, Team Bondi's MotionScan technology in L.A. Noire has thrown down the gauntlet, but you can bet Naughty Dog won't be easily outdone.
We already know the team plans to employ big-time Hollywood techniques to generate what should be the most amazing cinematic story experience of the year in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. But now we can go behind the scenes in a new Behind the Digital Curtain feature at the PlayStation Blog, where we learn even more about the effort behind the newest Uncharted adventure. It's pretty mind-boggling. As for motion capture, creative director Amy Hennig said:
"We’ve developed a unique process for motion capture and performance capture for games. We’re kind of ahead of the pack."
Well, we're not about to disagree. Hennig goes on to talk about the "humble stage" used for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, which was "outdated and uncomfortable," and suffered from "poor acoustics." But these days, things are a touch more refined...and of course, when it comes to casting, Naughty Dog won't skimp. "We cast very carefully, that’s step one in any project," said Hennig. "If you cast hastily or badly, you’re screwed forever. If you cast well, you can write any piece of crap and they’ll make it sound wonderful. Trust me, I’ve done it!"
The pictures are great and the read is well worth it.

Heh... I remember seeing that stage in the Special Features of U:DF and laughing. Don't get me wrong, it was cool that they had it, but it was just so simple. I don't know.
Anyway, she's right on the casting. Often I'll be watching a high-class movie, only to see an actor that is simply not giving the role what it needs, and it'll bring it down a notch. Video games are especially sensitive to this because of the general lack of any feeling outside of the voicework. It means that the impact is lessened even more. Can't wait to see how UC3:DD turns out. Should be gorgeous.
Peace.

I mean you need a challenge in the games or you'd be bored to tears ,but, the games that throw in that IMPOSSIBLE mission or two leave a bad taste in my mouth.
The Uncharted series is one of my favorites, but, these two battles I'm thinking of almost ruined it...for me anyway. I won't mention what the battles are in case there may be someone hiding under a rock that hasn't played these yet! :)
