Kojima: What I've Been Preparing For Became "Meaningless"
When Hideo Kojima is sad, gamers are sad.
We have no idea why the master has called the previous year "meaningless," but it's definitely worthy of discussion. According to a few recent Twitter updates from Kojima (as translated by VG247), something bad must've happened to one of his new projects. In two separate Tweets, he writes:
"I can’t take it anymore; this is unbearable, I can’t stay positive."
"The thing that I spent one year delicately preparing became meaningless."
So has a fresh Kojima Productions project been canned? And if so, what was it? It can't be Zone of the Enders 3 because that title hasn't even started development, and it really can't be his new NGP title, because he's all set to display it at E3 next month. But above all else, we hate to see one of the industry's brightest minds floundering and finding it tough to "stay positive." :(

The markets may have rallied close to a hundred percent from their death defying lows (some 2 years or so ago), but that is due to enormous amounts of money printing creating liquidity to try and fill up the trillion dollar holes left after the near collapse of the financial system; it therefore does not mean people have more money in their pockets... it just means bankers had more liquidity to "speculate" with to try and make more money out of "given money" - from the tax payers - to try and fill their gigantic black holes - after a spectacular night at the casino...
In the real world there is only so much money that people can dispose of on gaming and their hobbies. Maybe Kojima's project was too ambitious, or would cost to much for the publisher to risk making it, or at least start making it and then having to can it half way through. Maybe this is better; allow Kojima to re-think and see if the I.P. he was working on could be re-optimised, re-designed to fall within acceptable budget limitations and time.

A lot of people are experiencing "normalcy bias" right now, and they are ignoring the planetary wide economic crisis.
There are bigger things at work here, and the video game industry has been able to steer clear of the pitfalls for the most part. I believe what is coming down the road by the end of 2011 and all of 2012 will change a lot of things in this industry.

I'd like to know the whole story behind this sudden game downturn because this was the game he said he always wanted to do, but I'm thinking it wasn't turned down by his own production company, so that would only leave Sony, and I just can't see them ever thumbing anything of his down.
And the plot thickens.......

And now after this whole breach and stuff, maybe he's a bit frightened as to the things that might happen to his new MGS game for the NGP, with the PlayStation Network.
I guess the more likely would be something to do with Metal Gear Solid Rising. For he's producing it, but he didn't really have a say as to how the game will play.
