Infinity Ward: There Is No Lead Platform For Modern Warfare 3
The rule is always the same: if the developers create a game using one platform as the lead, buy the game for that platform.
But for most titles these days, it doesn't matter much because designers make games for both platforms simultaneously. This is the case with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, as noted by Infinity Ward boss Robert Bowling. On his Twitter page, Bowling confirmed what we already guessed: that there is no lead platform for MW3:
"We don't have lead platforms, we develop each version alongside each other. Xbox 360 is running at same as PS3."
Only the PC version can receive "unique optimizations," so according to this guy, it really doesn't matter which console version you choose. He also dismissed any talk of DLC right now as it's far too early (and we agree), and added that if you ever see a video labeled "beta," it's fake. No such thing exists just yet, although maybe it will at some point...
There are small hitches and shortcomings from Black Ops that we'd like to see erased in MW3. Regardless of lead platforms, such issues should be addressed, yes?

dustypotato,
You're old enough to know that what you're doing is a theft of service crime, right????
Plus, it's also the fastest way to also get your PS3 & account banned, right?????
Plus, trying to get entice other people to do it too can also bring secondary criminal charges of "aiding & abetting, along with conspiracy charges too.

As I already pointed out the PS3 is the superior hardware. Thus if what you say is true than that would mean they did not use the potential of the PS3. If they had, the 360 would not be able to run the same way.
And it actually is common sense to read that a game is running the same for both the 360 and PS3 and assume the PS3 was not the lead platform.

I'll pose it to you like this. Since when has a CoD game EVER used the potential of the PS3? As we both know PS3 is superior. So it's actually easy to lead with PS3 knowing the parameters that you must follow to keep it in-line with the 360 version.
Therefore it's very easy for the 360 version to run the same way. Being that all the resources for the PS3 aren't used to the maximum capability simply because they have to keep in mind that 360 has to be close to identical.
Simply put you can lead with the PS3 but doesn't mean your maximizing it to the point where you can't create the same thing on a inferior system

They can say the PS3 is the lead platform but I see no evidence to believe this.

In the beginning of this gaming generation I'd agree with you 100%. However it's 4 years later and developers have wrapped their mind around the inner workings of the PS3 so these days it doesn't matter..

Ps3 doesn't succeed in everything.
We fail at Graphics.
And by means of graphics I mean the graphics card.
Believe it or not the ps3 has a weaker graphics card then the Xbox 360. It's been proven.
However doesn't mean all of our games are worst in graphics.
The only reason why sony decided to make a weaker graphics card is because the CPU cell broadband engine can join and work witht he RSX to both produce graphics. SO it's a 2 in one working together, unlike the xbox which is only 1.
I just wished the ps3's RSX could have a unified core so it pushes out more pixils or something like the xbox 360 so we can get better framerates.

Can we than agree that while the PS3 may be the lead platform (at least in words) it in no way is a benefit for us PS3 users since development is being restricted by the 360 to insure both games are identical?
@sha4dowknight05
I'm aware of the PS3 hardware/architecture. I'm also aware of the fact that the PS3 has given us the best looking console games this generation of gaming. It's also well known that the 360's hardware consistently restricts development of PS3 games in regards to multiplatform games.

So, large companies using lead platforms for development does still exist.
And will likely continue to exist, in the interest of saving money by porting, I would imagine.

But that should read 'PS3 runs same as Xbox' for obvious reasons. the xbox wont ever run at the same rate as the ps3, it being the lesser console.

Yup, that was me, but I'm still 1/2 way too slow & rusty lately while trying to get back into the game all over again.
FYI, KZ3 is actually the very 1st game I've ever played online. And it's all to that great MP mode beta that I finally decided to join the 19th century(yeah, that's how late I've been, LOL) & jumped right into some MP.
KZ3 had me hooked, I wound up putting 66 hours into it with over 650,000+ XP, the very 1st week & 1/2.
But I've been out of the loop since March when my Phat Princess finally threw me off for good about 1/4 through my second marathon session & went into red light mode.
So now I've got to start fresh all over again, due to my Phat Princess(along her new 640 hard-drive destroyed with my KZ3, and well over 50 other games saved too) getting brutally murdered by some f*cking irresponsible knuckle-dragging USPS scumbag A$$HAT package-mutilating Mandrill.

Micro$oft has given Activision ungodly amounts of money to get exclusive first DLC, so obviously the 3-fix-me is the lead platform. It has been for all next gen Call of Dootys. They make most of there money from 360 sales because pretty much all that platform has is shooters.
Regardless, I'm not getting suckered into another lackluster wannabe FPS that all the trendy gamers like for some retarded reason. I am choosing to support real innovation that is Frostbite 2.0/DICE.
If CoD is your sort of thing there is nothing wrong with that but not all of us appreciate mediocrity. "Oh CoD sold this many copies!" Irrelevant. Its a casually developed shooter for casual gamers, cut copy and paste every November. Why comment on this article even though CoD is wack? My opinion. And Godslim, I enjoyed playing as the SAS in MW1, wouldn't wanna mess with those blokes.

All Bowling is doing is some crowd control. (fanboys in this case). Imagine what the internet reaction if he confirms the 360 as the lead? We all know the truth. The ps3 version will just be another port with horrible support.
