Russell Quits Uncharted Movie Due To "Creative Differences"
Naughty Dog has made it clear in the past: they don't want Hollywood to ruin their award-winning Uncharted franchise.
For a while, things appeared to be going well for the film adaptation, set to be directed by David O. Russell and starring Mark Wahlberg as Nathan Drake. But now, according to a recent Variety report, Russell has abandoned the project due to "creative differences" with Sony. Apparently, the split was "amicable;" it's just that Sony and Russell didn't agree on the movie's course. Now, though, they'll have to start from scratch with a new director and a new writer, so Wahlberg (and any other cast members Russell may have already nailed down) could be gone, too. The question is, what do the gamers think? Based on what we had heard in the past, maybe they won't be so devastated...
The details may have been sketchy and even downright inaccurate, but much of the info for the "Uncharted" film just didn't seem to jive with the game. Maybe we don't need a movie at all.
