Lara Croft Loses Over-Sexed Self, Finds A Gritty Heroine

For a very long time, Lara Croft has been synonymous with the term "curvaceous heroine," and that's being rather polite. The premiere sex symbol for a good portion of the industry's history, Lara's chest rather than her personality or adventuring skills always stole the limelight.

But when Crystal Dynamics decided to reboot this franchise, they started with the overhaul of the main character. And as outlined in a new summary citing a feature preview in Edge magazine, Lara is now grittier, more anatomically correct and in general, more of a human; perhaps even a sympathetic character as she takes damage and becomes physically harmed. The developer say she isn't "that Teflon character anymore," which may or may not appeal to the long-time fans.

From a nearly invincible heroine with a pornstar look to a far more vulnerable woman with a more realistic body and a face that will show pain and suffering, Lara Croft is a very different character in the Tomb Raider reboot. But how will this affect our feelings about her when playing the game? Will we indeed be more connected to her? Or should they have stuck with the comical yet familiar formula?

Although I'm used to the old Lara, I think I can deal with this. It's the way of the industry. She only looked that way because really it made up for the graphic portion of the PS1 days. It's like the whole Mario thing where he only wears a hat because they didn't want to draw hair. I'm open to a grittier and perhaps more mature (in terms of story and character development of course) scene to this game series.

I say move with the times.

The teenagers playing Tomb Raider way back when are adults now, and I sure as Hell appreciate the direction of this overhaul.

Not saying I don't like boobies...

crystal d & naughty dog should work out a deal that would see lara make a cameo in uc3 & nate a cameo in this new tomb raider. where its the same scene in both games. l mean exactly is that scene ties in to both games storys. i hope i explained that right

Lara was fine the way she was. I saw those GI screens and I thought the graphics looked like dated poo-poo.

I think read a line in there about how TR has been a victim of it's own success.
I say, bull crap. Just like how they don't need to re-boot Lara's image, they just need to make a real good high quality game to make the series more interesting.

She is still a sex symbol, expect with a different look and in all honesty it doesn't matter.

Lara was in need of a change. But the series is in more need of change. Hopefully this reboot will bring the series back to the forefront. From what I've seen, I'm liking all the changes made thus far.

If she can be the female Nathan Drake then good for her. Besides, she's still got a decent rack.

Idk. It looks like she still has the same rack, just a different overall look, with blood and wounds on her. If they can get her to be like a female Drake, I think it would also be really good for the franchise. Gamers would be playing it more for the action-type gameplay, and not just about checking her body out while she runs around.

Also, I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for this, but I don't like oversized racks in women, especially on an action hero-type character. It gets my attention in ways I don't like. Don't get me wrong, I'm straight. I just rather have
more-normal ones that is seen in other games like Uncharted, or the FF series.

So are you saying the one on the magazine cover is too small? It's at least a D. Lol, I just can't imagine 38EE on an action hero. Realistically, boobs that huge can be a hindrance with all that weight. At least that's what I've been told.

Nooooooo! Don't mess with her voluptous look, that's been Lara's signature since the begining. And if they mess with it, at least let us unlock a game skin of her normal huge self, lol.

I like the way she will look now. Before it was because of low pixelated graphics. Now you don't need the big boobs because of so much better graphics today. She will still be sexy for all you who care about that. I hope that an't the reason your buying it.
All though I know I was interested in the 3rd birthday for that very same reason,
Shame on me!
But sadly it didn't make it on the PS3. It actually sounded like a really good game. I would of liked too try it for the gameplay. But any ways Lora will be gorgeous no matter what. I'm excited for the re-boob, I mean re-boot.

This is seriously deja vu. Crystal Dynamics did exactly this beginning with their entry into the series. To be honest I don't even see much difference in the concept art other than a grittier, rambo like lara. The developers are talking exactly the same as they did before with Legend.

She hasn't looked like a pornstar for quite awhile, and even then it was only in marketing. In the games she always had intellect and prowess and used them.
