Rumor: Unreleased Tomb Raider CG Will Drop Your Jaw

While the few screenshots are pretty darn impressive, it appears there's even more in store for the Lara faithful.

There has been evidence popping up on the Internet concerning a currently unreleased Tomb Raider trailer full of stunning CG visuals, and a GameTrailers staffer apparently already saw it and was totally blown away. You can even see a piece of that supposedly amazing trailer right here; it may not tell us much but it does look promising. The only problem is that with such bold claims, one has to question, especially considering the unbelievable CG we've seen thus far this generation. While many have problems with Final Fantasy XIII, for example, it remains true that Square Enix is almost unparalleled in the world of CG. Heck, just look at their recent PSP work like The 3rd Birthday.

So can Crystal Dynamics really impress us that much when this trailer drops? ...thoughts?

As long as the trailer has a camera angle that focuses on a special body part, I too will be "blown away".

Apparently this tomb raider game is less about her ass and cleavage and more about a real character. I personally think its a good direction for the series.

Although I agree with you completely, I did expect for my comment to receive more "heck yeahs" from the guys on this site. I know what I said was rather sexist, so I apologize if I managed to offend anyone.

That being said, Tomb Raider, with or without the sexist content/themes, will still be an amazing game. It's the original Uncharted.

Agreed, it's the gameplay visuals that matter and not the pre-rendered cinematics. So I'm still going to wait and see until gameplay videos are available before letting myself get "blown away".

I have my eyes on this. I remember TR on the PS1 and even playing her on my Nintendo SP. So far it's sounding like it's going to be amazing. But it's a little, no, it's way too soon to say anything just yet. But I really want it to be a great game. Sadly.. it won't be a exclusive.. I just hope it doesn't hold it back too much.
Lora deserve to be rendered in PS3 perfection.

lol, this is gonna be the Dead Island trailer all over again. Great CG trailers and mock ups are fun, I really do love em, but they mean nothing when it comes to the game. I mean it is multiplat.

That said, I'm still looking forward to it.

I agree (also with Oyashiro).

Great pre-rendered CG just means a bunch of resources were spent on something other than gameplay.

Current game engines can provide everything necessary for superb storytelling. I don't see the need for CG anymore.

BTW, I'm not even into RPG's, but the CG I just saw for FF VerusXIII, blow me away.
Especially near the end where the guy looked so Deus Ex: Human Revolution'ish...

Colour me thoroughly unimpressed. Anyone can do stunning CG; what really matters is what the game engine is capable of. All CG does is take up precious disc space that could be better used to further flesh out the game, and considering that this is a multiplatform game... it's definitely cause for concern.

Also, may I just have a laff at CoD: Elite. I suppose a subscription based service was in the works... and anyone with half a brain will know better than to pay for it. But then, this is... NAH, leaving it there.

I have to be honest, I don't care about CG clips, I need to see gameplay of this reboot. I swear that is becoming one of the worst wordds in history, I don't dare say it out loud anymore.

im really looking forward to this, GI had some really interesting info on it.
i wish crystal dynamics would redo pandemonium though, by far the most underrated ps1 game ever made!

Why does anyone still care about CG trailers this gen? They show us absolutely nothing about the actual game except for some gameplay elements that are made to look cooler in CG. Its truly a lot of wasted effort that could have been spent on the game if you ask me.

The control on the last few TRs have left me pulling my hair out! IIRC I did not even finish the last one because of frustration with control issues...no not MY control issues! :)
