Dragon Age II Designer: We're Going To Fix Things For DAIII
Although we still liked Dragon Age II, we recognize that it had a few problems.
And just like any good studio, it's BioWare's aim to fix all those issues before providing fans with the next installment. In a new post in the official BioWare forums, DAII lead designer Mike Laidlaw addressed some common complaints regarding the recent entry. He cited "level re-use, the implementation of wave combat, concerns about the narrative and significance of choice" and in response said:
"I'm not only aware of the concerns, but I agree that there are aspects of DA II that not only can but must be improved in future installments. And that is precisely our intent."
He also tossed up a few pieces of original artwork for the new Dragon Age and added:
"I stumbled across a few images I thought I might share with you folks. After all, there's been a lot of requests to explore areas outside of Kirkwall, and I agree that seeing some more of the Free Marches would be cool."
Yes, please do whatever you can to keep Dragon Age III from feeling more like "RPG-lite." Your fans are hardcore, damnit. You know that.

I am just like you and did not really like the direction they took with DA2 but I am pretty eager to see the changes in the 3rd one. DA is a great game.

I'd gladly pay the same for a similar game again. I got more hours of fun in da2 than I get in 8/10 other games I buy, so who am I to complain, really.
That being said, I welcome changes to the concept but have faith in that BioWare change course accordingly. They have to release a *much* worse game than DA2 for me to loose faith in them.

Also, political struggles should only be a part of an epic story line, we also need an overarching evil to seek out and destroy.
And, yeah, I didn't like the action battle. It was unnecessary. DAIII probably won't be day 1 unless they can prove those things have been fixed.

If they can do all that (which it sounds like they might if this article is any indication), then I'll be happy and ready to be interested in DA3.

I really enjoyed DAO andwould like to see DA3 in a similar vein. There are no other options for my type of fan but if you think the stralining in DA2 was an improvement then there are lots of other streamlined games for you to go and play instead. Give me classic DA back.
that being said, the more I think about the story in DA2, the more I like it. it is't epic but then it's not meant to be. You're a refugee who's just trying to get by and gradually you get dragged into the bigger story arch which is initially hinted at. The gamer has no wider view of the end plot than the character they are playing. That's a good thing.

a RPG with poor combat is completley useless!
just gets repetitive and boring doing the same attacks for 20+ hours!
this is not heavy rain where the combat is just a bridge for the story, the combat is just as part of the game as the story is, so it needs to be just as good!

That's exactly how I felt when I played the demo, and thus, did not buy the game.
